The Biggest Draw of the Night

Lotto Texas and Powerball are worlds apart, and May 19th proved the point. The Texas lottery had a quiet night, what with there being no jackpot winner. But, the Pattern there was like a boomerang. You’ve tossed it, and you think it’s gone, but it comes right back.

As for Powerball, Saturday night was truly that lottery’s time to shine. A player in New Jersey is now $315 million richer, and five players in Florida, Texas, Minnesota, and New York will have $1 million more. Of course, that wasn’t all Powerball had to offer. We’ll get to that momentarily.

Given that there have been 1552 Lotto Texas drawings, this special play has occurred 14% of the time. For our long-time readers, the last time we saw an Australia Play was on May 12th, 2018.  This lottery has certainly become fond of Australia lately! With the notoriously hot and brutal Texas summer rearing its head soon, a trip Down Under may not be such a bad idea. Winter’s a comin’ down there.

And now for the show-stopper.

The numbers that gave five people the option to quit their day jobs were 3, 6, 9, 17, 56, and PB 25.

These six numbers made up the 56th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, which was also last seen on May 12th, 2018. This Pattern has played in 20.4% of the 274 Powerball drawings.

With fifteen appearances, the [3-1-1-1] General Order has played in 26.8% of the 56 drawings where the winning Pattern was {3-1-1-1}. This General Order has also played in 5.47% of all 274 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, we saw the [3-1-1-1] General Order on April 11th, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 20% of the fifteen drawings where [3-1-1-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 5.36% of 56 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 274 drawings, this Specific Order has played 1.09% of the time. The 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on December 23rd, 2017.

The One Where Uncommonly Seen Patterns Were Unearthed

Two things reached the stratosphere May 16th: The Houston Rockets and the Powerball jackpot. Nobody won the big prize Wednesday night, and as I write this post, the jackpot is now an outstanding $306 million. There was a winner in Lotto Texas, one who is now $30.2 million richer. Regardless of whether a winner came forth, a couple of rarities were unearthed, one for each lottery.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 20, 24, 27, 37, 39, and 41, the uncommonly-seen {3-3} Pattern made its 131st appearance.

Given that there have been 1551 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 8.45% of the time and was last seen in the April 14, 2018 drawing.

Now with 42 appearances, the 0 3 3 Specific Order has played in 32.1% of the 131 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 2.71% of all 1551 drawings. Prior to Wednesday’s drawing, this Specific Order was last seen on November 30, 2016.

Four-Number Combination(s)

In addition to a not-so-common Pattern, there were two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 20, 24, 37, 39 (Debuted June 10, 2009)
  • 20, 27, 37, 41 (Debuted March 2, 2016)

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Even rarer than the {3-3} Pattern in Lotto Texas is Powerball’s {4-1-1}. After Wednesday night’s drawing, the {4-1-1} Pattern has made a grand total of five appearances. The winning numbers were 17, 19, 21, 22, 51, and PB 19.

Fifth time’s the charm. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 273 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 1.83% of them. The {4-1-1} Pattern was last seen on March 17, 2018.

With three appearances, the [4-1-1] General Order has played in 60% of the five drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.10% of all 273 drawings. We last saw the [4-1-1] General Order on September 16, 2017.

Wednesday night saw the debut of a new Specific Order! The 0 4 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has now played in 33.3% of the three drawings where the General Order was [4-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 20% of the five drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.37% of all 273 drawings.

Will either of these rare Patterns make an encore Saturday night?

Pre-Mother’s Day Saturday Encore

Today’s post is going to start with a tribute.

Be they called “mothers”, “las madres”, or just plain “Moms”, without them we wouldn’t be. They nurtured us, comforted us, fussed at us (when we needed it!), and made sure we became functioning members of society. Mothers aren’t perfect, but dang if they don’t try. Even when the kids have grown up and have lives of their own, mothers are like artists: they feel their work is never done! As annoying as it may seem, we’ll end up missing that fussing and “worrisomeness” when their time comes.

And, in the spirit of Mother’s Day, May 12th was a quiet night for Lotto Texas and Powerball. The only rowdiness was a Pattern encore and a repeating Three-Number Combination.

This Pattern has played in 216 drawings. Of course, when the {2-2-2} Pattern played, that meant the 2 2 2 Specific Order was along for the ride. Given that there have been 216 Lotto Texas drawings, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played in 13.9% of them.

Will either Powerball or Lotto Texas see Pattern encores on Wednesday, or will other Patterns take the reins?

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern In All Its Encore Glory

It’s a stone-cold fact: some lottery Patterns just play more than others. The ones that don’t show up for weeks, months even, often break up Pattern streaks. These types are not the subject of this post. Today’s post focuses on the other group: The Patterns that are never gone for long. One such Pattern is never gone for long and thrives on Pattern streaks, And, as the title says, it made an encore in the May 11th drawing.

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of this past Tuesday’s drawing, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 158th appearance with winning numbers 14, 38, 40, 53, 70, and MB 22.

Great Lotteries Think Alike

In the past, we’ve seen Lotto Texas and Powerball play the same Pattern, and even have a “joint” Pattern streak. Although neither of those things happened May 9th, that night was a treat for playback lovers everywhere. In fact, the night was bouncing with not just playbacks but repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 9, 17, 30, 34, 39, and 51, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 215th appearance. These two combined make up that special playback we here like to call the Australia Play.

The {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have now played 20 times each. And, with 271 Powerball drawings, that means Powerball’s Australia Play has happened 7.38% of the time.  The last time this happened was in the April 4, 2018 drawing.

Interestingly, this Combination made its debut in the April 21st drawing just a few weeks ago.

Another interesting (and totally out of character) thing is how short this post was for Lotto Texas and Powerball analysis. With Mother’s Day (for the US/Canada/Australia anyway) right around the corner, will these lotteries be sweet and chill, or go nuts with Australia Play encores?

Just Another {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Tuesday

Tuesday can mean one of or any combination of the following:

  • One less day to wait before the weekend
  • Tacos
  • Mega Millions

On the Mega Millions front, May 8th was a quiet night. There were no encores, no signs of a Pattern streak, or anything earth-shattering really. Despite this, Tuesday night wasn’t completely calm.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 8, 15, 39, 64, 67, and MB 13, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 157 times.

Given that there have been 356 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 44.1% of them. As the title hinted at, this Pattern was last seen on a Tuesday. In fact, it was May 1, 2018.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, now with 36 appearances, has played in 22.9% of the 157 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 10.1% of all 356 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order played on March 20, 2018.

Now with seven appearances, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order played in 19.4% of the 36 drawings where the General Order of the evening was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 4.46% of the 157 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.97% o fall 356 drawings. Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance Friday night?

Cuatro-Uno-Uno

The (possibly) gratuitous Spanish is thanks to Cinco de Mayo. Whether to commemorate the Mexican army’s victory over the French or a day to go crazy with margaritas, it’s more than “just” a holiday. Mega Millions didn’t have the honor of playing on Cinco de Mayo (that was last year), but the May 4, 2018 drawing kicked off the festive weekend.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 4, 5, 10, 12, 18, and MB 21, the {4-1-1} Pattern played for the ninth time.

These six numbers had the 4-1-1. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 355 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has now played in 2.54% of them. We last saw this Pattern in the February 20th, 2018 drawing.

The [4-1-1] General Order, with five appearances now, has played in 55.6% of the nine drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order also accompanied said Pattern in the February 20th drawing mentioned earlier. And, out of the 355 drawings so far, the [4-1-1] General Order has played in 1.41% of them.

Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing saw the debut of the 4 1 0 0 0 1 Specific Order. This means that it has now played in 20% of the five drawings where the General Order of the evening was [4-1-1]. The Specific Order has also played in 11.1% of the nine drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.28% of all 355 drawings.

Will the {4-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance in Tuesday’s drawing?

May Day! May Day!

This title was brought to you by the month of May. Yes, May. A month for honoring spring, workers, children (Japan), mothers (US, Canada, Australia), and for the kids, the last month of school. At least here in Houston.

For Lottery Binge, May 1st meant Mega Millions. It had the honor of kicking off lottery analysis coverage for this month. Where we last left off, we wanted to know if the {2-2-1-1} Pattern would start the month with an encore. An encore wasn’t meant to be, but we did see a very special Pattern. So special that it’s known for its summer Pattern streaks.

General Lottery Analysis

May is also traditionally the start of the summer blockbuster season. Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern get the ball rolling with an encore Friday night?

Mega Millions’ Springtime Serenade

The chill is gone! Springtime is here to stay, and what with May right around the corner, it’s going to start feeling like summer soon enough. Before we get lost in dreams about tropical paradises, let’s focus on the April 27th Mega Millions drawing. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak got snuffed out, but the night was anything but quiet. This was also a pretty good night for those of you out there who love repeating Three-Number Combinations.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern had the honor of crashing the streak. With winning numbers 2, 29, 38, 63, 66, and MB 11, this Pattern made its 100th appearance.

With Friday night’s drawing, Mega Millions bid “Adieu” to April and is now looking ahead to May. In fact, it will have the honor of being the first lottery covered for that month! Will the month begin with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore or with a Pattern that is rarely seen?

With Their Patterns Combined

It’s Captain Lottery!

Okay, maybe not.

Lotto Texas and Powerball may not join forces to save the world, but they do provide entertainment every Wednesday (and Saturday) night without fail. Although this is a biweekly routine, anyone who plays the lottery enough (and has been following this blog!) knows that what happens is never routine. Some nights are bursting with a crazy explosion of Pattern streaks, repeating Combinations, or a mixture of the two, while others see nary a spark. April 25th fell somewhere in the middle, sliding more towards the “crazy explosion” side. Both lotteries saw their most commonly seen Patterns, and there was some encore action.

Don’t worry; you don’t need to binge on blog archives to know which Pattern saw the encore.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern’s secret to staying on top is by establishing Pattern streaks, or at least making an encore. Right off the heels of this past Saturday night, this Pattern made its 805th appearance with winning numbers 2, 5, 12, 26, 31, and 43.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Lotto Texas decided a {3-2-1} Pattern encore was sufficient. Therefore, no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Prior to Wednesday night, the 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order played in the October 25, 2017 drawing. That was exactly six months ago.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball saw two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

Lotto Texas and Powerball will see their last drawings for April this Saturday. As the month winds down and the summer countdowns start, will either the {3-2-1} or {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern show up again? Could there even be playback action?
