End-of-Month Repeating Combination Blowout

Mega Millions was never one to pass up big plays. Instead of playing an extremely rare Pattern, or even a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore, another route was taken. For those of you who get a kick out of repeating Three-Number Combinations, September 29^th was your night! Friday saw a whopping six, count ‘em six repeating Three-Number Combinations. What triggered such a large number? We’ll get to that in a minute, but first, this general Mega Millions analysis.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 68^th appearance, with winning numbers 25, 51, 62, 73, 74, and MB 7.

This Pattern has now played in 16.5% of the 412 drawings and was last seen earlier in the month. More specifically, in the September 8^th drawing.

Now with 26 appearances, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in 38.2% of the 68 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 6.31% of all 412 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this General Order played in the August 22^nd, 2017 drawing.

Making its third-ever appearance was the 0 1 0 0 1 3 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 11.5% of the 26 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared, and in 4.41% of the 68 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 0.73% of all 412 drawings, and previously played on June 13^th, 2017.

And now for the repeating Combinations bonanza. Part of what made this night so full of repeating Combinations was that there was a repeating Four-Number Combination. Repeating Four-Number Combinations are no stranger to Lotto Texas, but in Mega Millions, they don’t come by very often. This Combination was 25, 62, 74, and MB 7.

Of course, with a repeating Four-Number Combination, there are four repeating Three-Number Combinations nestled within:

These Combinations, and of course, the “mother” Four-Number Combination, made their debut in the December 29^th, 2015 drawing.

These weren’t the only Combinations of the evening. In fact, there were two more repeating Three-Number Combinations:

25, 51, 73 (Debuted September 16^th, 2014)
25, 51, MB 7 (Debuted January 13^th, 2015)

Will Tuesday’s drawing see a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore, or will the not often seen repeating Four-Number Combination make another appearance?

Hopping Along with a Callback

Autumn, of course, is when temperatures start to cool down. The term “Cool down” didn’t apply to either Lotto Texas or Powerball. To commemorate the first full week of autumn, there was an Australia Play and a callback to a drawing from right before Harvey. Question is, which pattern saw what play the night of September 27^th?

Lotto Texas

The {2-2-2} Pattern bounded its way to its 199^th appearance. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 2, 6, 26, 32, 42, and 49.

Now, given that was an Australia Play, the 2 2 2 Specific Order also made its 199^th appearance. Both have now played in 13.4% of the 1485 Lotto Texas drawing, and previously played on July 15, 2017.

Powerball

Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern is rare indeed. Out of 207 drawings, this Pattern made its 10^th appearance Wednesday. The winning numbers for the big 1-0 were 8, 10, 21, 23, 25, and PB 22.

This Pattern has now played in 4.83% of the 207 drawings.

With eight appearances, the [2-3-1] General Order has played in 80% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.86% of all 207 drawings.

Now with two appearances, the 2 3 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 25% of the 8 drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared, and in 20% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in roughly one percent of all 207 drawings.

Powerball’s Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order were all seen together in the August 23, 2017 drawing!

Technically speaking, an Australia Play is a callback. On this blog, the term will be used to describe an occurrence of a Pattern, General Order (when applicable), and Specific Order that played together in a previous drawing, and are not part of an Australia Play.

Our Powerball coverage concludes with the lone Three-Number Combination of the evening: 8, 10, and PB 22.

Falling for Uncommon Patterns and (Repeating) Combinations

Autumn has arrived in Lottery Trend Country. This is a time of cooler temperatures, shortening daytime hours, and of course, pumpkin spice lattes. Before we get far down the rabbit hole of said lattes and autumnal spices, we have the matter of the Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings to cover. September 23^rd didn’t see a blowout for either lottery, but there were a couple of interesting plays, especially in Powerball.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 8, 10, 14, 17, 28, and 29, the {4-2} Pattern has now played 168 times.

This Pattern has played in 11.3% of the 1484 Lotto Texas drawings, and prior to Saturday night, was last seen on September 13, 2017.

Making its 33^rd appearance, the 4 2 0 Specific Order has played in 19.6% of the 168 drawings where the {4-2} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 2.22% of all 1484 drawings, and previously played on August 16, 2017.

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations this time.

Powerball

The 39^th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern was marked by winning numbers 24, 45, 55, 56, 57, and PB 19.

This Pattern has played in 18.9% of the 206 drawings, and was last seen August 12, 2017.

Now with thirteen appearances, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played in roughly 33.3% of the 39 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 6.31% of all 206 drawings. We last saw the [1-3-1-1] General Order in the May 24, 2017 drawing.

The 0 1 0 3 1 1 Specific Order made its second appearance, and has now played in 15.4% of the 13 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.13% of the 39 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.97% of all 206 drawings. This Specific Order hadn’t been seen in nearly eighteen months. In fact, it made its debut in the March 30, 2016 drawing.

A Big Playback and a World Debut

Summer has come and gone for Lotto Texas and Powerball. Although there were no encores, nor repeating Four-Number or Three-Number Combinations, there were a couple of interesting plays September 20^th.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 7, 12, 13, 15, 19, and 37, the {4-1-1} Pattern made its 162^nd appearance in Lotto Texas.

To date, there have been 1483 drawings, and this Pattern has played in 10.9% of them.

Now with 52 appearances, the 4 1 1 Specific Order has played in 32.1% of the 162 drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.51% of all 1483 drawings.

What made Wednesday night’s Lotto Texas drawing interesting was that both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 4 1 1 Specific Order were seen together earlier this month! More specifically, on September 2, 2017.

Powerball

Wednesday night’s winning numbers for Powerball were 39, 48, 53, 67, 68, and PB 26, marking the 61^st appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern.

This Pattern has now played in 29.8% of the 205 Powerball drawings, and was last seen on September 13, 2017.

Making its 18^th appearance was the [1-2-2-1] General Order, now having played in 29.5% of the 61 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 8.78% of all 205 drawings. We last saw this General Order March 25, 2017.

Our Powerball coverage concludes with the world debut of the 0 0 1 2 2 1 Specific Order. As of Wednesday night, this Specific Order has played in 5.56% of the 18 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 1.64% of the 61 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.49% of all 205 drawings.

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball welcome fall with big plays of their own Saturday night, or will they welcome the season with little fanfare?

The 4-1-1 on Major Plays

There were no encores for either Lotto Texas or Powerball the night of September 16^th. Yet, it was far from a quiet night. Although Lotto Texas saw a repeating Four-Number Combination, it was Powerball that saw the biggest play of the evening. One of the biggest was the appearance of a Pattern so rare that it had only played twice before, and made one player $133 million richer.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 4, 9, 18, 36, 40, and 41, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 772^nd appearance.

This Pattern has now played in 52.1% of the 1482 Lotto Texas drawings, and was seen in the September 9^th drawing exactly one week ago.

Making its 142^nd appearance was the 3 1 2 Specific Order, which has now played in 18.4% of the 772 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.58% of the 1482 drawings to date, and previously played on September 6^th, 2017.

The repeating Four-Number Combination of the evening was 9, 18, 40, and 41.

This Combination made its debut in the August 6^th, 2016 drawing. Compared to most repeating Four-Number Combinations we’ve discussed, this one is recent.

Powerball

For the third time ever, the {4-1-1} Pattern played in Powerball! The winning numbers were 17, 18, 24, 25, 31, and PB 24.

This Pattern has now played in 1.47% of the 204 Powerball drawings. We last saw this Pattern over a year ago. More specifically, the August 17^th, 2016 drawing.

With its second appearance, the [4-1-1] General Order has played in 67% of the three drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has played, and in 0.98% of all 204 drawings. This General Order made its debut in the April 13^th, 2016 drawing.

Making its world debut in Powerball was the 0 4 1 0 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 50% of the two drawings where the [4-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 33% of the three drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 0.49% of all 204 drawings.

So far, it looks like Lotto Texas and Powerball are getting ready for a big send-off to summer. Will the momentum continue into next week?

September Spice

September is nearly halfway over, and it’s almost time to say goodbye to summer. Although autumn doesn’t start until September 22^nd (or 23^rd), Lotto Texas and Powerball were getting ready for a big send off. That is, if the results from September 13^th were anything to go by. Whether it was a Pattern that doesn’t show up often in Lotto Texas, or three repeating Three-Number Combinations in Powerball, Wednesday night was far from boring!

Of course, if you’re reading from the Southern Hemisphere, replace “winter” with “spring”.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 24, 35, 40, 42, 45, and 48, the {4-2} Pattern made its 167^th appearance.

This Pattern has now played in 11.3% of the 1481 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen on August 16, 2017.

Now with 29 appearances, the 0 2 4 Specific Order has played in 17.4% of the 167 drawings where the {4-2} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.96% of all 1481 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this Specific Order played in the December 14, 2016 drawing.

Here’s a real treat: 35, 40, 42, and 48, the sole repeating Four-Number Combination, made its debut nearly nine-and-a-half years ago! To be more specific, this Combination made its debut in the March 19, 2008 drawing.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 60^th appearance, with winning numbers 17, 24, 35, 57, 63, and PB 19.

This Pattern has played in 29.6% of the 203 Powerball drawings, and previously played in the September 6, 2017 drawing.

Making its 20^th appearance, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has now played in 33.3% of the 60 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.85% of all 203 drawings. This General Order was seen alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern exactly a week prior.

With its third appearance, the 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 15% of the 20 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5% of the 60 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.48% of all 203 drawings. We last saw the 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order in the May 13, 2017 drawing.

Of Common Patterns

After a quiet night, the lotteries came swinging on September 9^th. Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their most commonly played Patterns, and were accompanied by a repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combination, respectively. Also, in what may have been the biggest play of the evening, a Specific Order played for the first time in over a year!

Lotto Texas

Right off the heels of this past Wednesday’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 771^st appearance. The winning numbers were 9, 26, 32, 34, 42, and 51.

This Pattern has now played in 52.1% of the 1480 Lotto Texas drawings.

Making its 118^th appearance, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has played in 15.3% of the 771 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and 7.97% of all 1480 drawings. This Specific Order did not make an encore. Prior to Saturday night, the 1 3 2 Specific Order was last seen in the July 29^th, 2017 drawing.

The repeating Four-Number Combination of the evening was 9, 26, 42, 51.

Powerball

With 77 appearances, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern is the King of Powerball Patterns. Saturday’s winning Patterns were 6, 20, 29, 57, 59, and PB 22.

This Pattern has played in 38.1% of the 202 Powerball drawings, and previously played on August 26^th, 2017.

Now with 24 appearances, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played in 31.2% of the 77 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1-} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.9% of all 202 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, we last saw this General Order in the August 16^th, 2017 drawing.

Making its seventh appearance, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 29.2% of the 24 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.09% of the 77 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.47% of all 202 drawings. This Specific Order hadn’t been seen in over a year. The last time we saw the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order was in the July 20^th, 2016 drawing.

More “Common” Things and a World Debut

In our last post covering Lotto Texas and Powerball, we talked about how September got off to a big start. The night of September 6, 2017 told a different story. There were no Pattern encores, and as for repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations? Nada. The biggest event of the evening was the debut of a new Specific Order.

Lotto Texas

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 8, 10, 16, 32, 40, and 48, bringing the number of appearances of the {3-2-1} Pattern to 770.

This Pattern has now played in 52.1% of the 1479 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen on August 26, 2017.

Making its 141^st appearance, the 3 1 2 Specific Order played in 18.3% of the 770 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, as well as in 9.53% of all 1479 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this Specific Order was seen August 2, 2017.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 59^th appearance, with winning numbers 8, 14, 32, 58, 67, and PB 17.

This Pattern has now played in 29.4% of the 201 Powerball drawings, and was last seen on August 30, 2017.

Now with nineteen (19) appearances, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played in 32.2% of the 59 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 9.45% of the 201 drawings, and was seen alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in the August 30^th drawing.

Making its world debut was the 2 0 1 0 2 1 Specific Order, now having played in 5.26% of the 19 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 1.69% of the 59 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in roughly 0.5% of all 201 drawings.

Will there be another world debut among Specific Orders? Will either the {2-2-1-1} or {3-2-1} Pattern make an encore?

Pre-Labor Day 4-1-1

Lotto Texas and Powerball kicked off September, and Labor Day weekend, with some not-commonly-seen Patterns. To make things even more interesting, one of these lotteries saw an Australia Play the night of September 2^nd. In fact, it hadn’t seen one in nearly six months! Can you guess which one?

Lotto Texas

Making its 161^st appearance, the {4-1-1} Pattern has now played in 10.9% of the 1478 Lotto Texas drawings. The winning numbers were 2, 10, 14, 15, 31, and 38.

Prior to Saturday night, we last saw this Pattern in the July 8, 2017 drawing.

Now with 51 appearances, the 4 1 1 Specific Order has played in 31.7% of the 161 drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.45% of all 1478 drawings. This Specific Order previously played in the March 29, 2017 drawing.

There were two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

2, 15, 31, 38 (Debuted March 17, 2007)

Powerball

By process of elimination, ‘twas Powerball that saw the Australia Play. This was fitting, as Saturday night had the 200^th drawing with number balls 1 through 69, and Powerballs 1- 26. With winning numbers 6, 21, 41, 52, 62, and PB 26, this was the 17^th time that the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared.

This also meant the 17^th appearance of the [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. All three have now played in 8.5% of the 200 Powerball drawings, and were last seen in the March 11, 2017 drawing.

As momentous as it was to see an Australia Play, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either the {4-1-1} or {1-1-1-1-1-1} Patterns make an encore appearance in next Wednesday’s drawing? Will other rare Patterns get a spot in the limelight?

Of Nature and Numbers

The storm once known as Harvey is dead and done, now nothing more than a rain system pushing up and out through the eastern United States. Although the Sun is out, and blue skies are a much welcome sight, the aftermath will be felt for some time. The waters will recede, the clean-up will take place, and everyone impacted by the storm will eventually return to their “normal” lives. Add in the videos and photos that have made their rounds on the Internet, not to mention the records that have been broken, Harvey will be one for the history books. Regardless of your beliefs, or lack thereof, Nature is truly awe-some.

Meanwhile, in Lottery World, neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball broke any records August 30, 2017. However, there was nothing “ho-hum” about how each lottery ended the month.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 11, 16, 17, 44, 52, and 54, the not-so-common {3-3} Pattern made its 126^th appearance.

This Pattern has now played in 8.53% of the 1477 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen May 24, 2017.

Now with 47 appearances, the 3 0 3 Specific Order has played in 37.3% of the 126 drawings where the {3-3} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.18% of all 1477 drawings. The 3 0 3 Specific Order played alongside the {3-3} Pattern in the May 24^th drawing.

The repeating Four-Number Combination of the evening was 16, 17, 44, and 54.

Now with 18 appearances, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played in 31% of the 58 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.04% of all 199 drawings. Prior to Wednesday, this General Order was last seen in the May 17, 2017 drawing.

Making its second appearance, the 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 11.1% of the 18 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.45% of the 58 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in about 1% of all 199 drawings. The 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order made its debut in the May 3, 2017 drawing.
