There be Lottery Fireworks

To our readers in the United States: Happy Fourth of July! May it be full of grilling, companionship, relaxation, and fireworks.

On July 3, 1996, one movie took the world by storm. An alien invasion movie with plucky, loveable characters, special effects that (mostly) hold up to this day, and a stellar (no pun intended) soundtrack. That movie was Independence Day, and for everyone who saw it in the theater, especially for the 90s kids out there (like yours truly), it was a thrill like no other. Twenty-five years later, and the movie has become a staple of holiday viewing.

July 3, 2021 saw a dazzling display of fireworks from both Lotto Texas and Powerball. A three-peat and a playback were featured, and the jackpots shot up once more! The Lotto Texas jackpot blasted its way up to $7 million, and Powerball’s jackpot soared to $113 million.

Lottery Nostalgia Bombs

Next to Christmas and your birthday, summer most likely rounded out your top three of “Best Time of the Year”. Summer meant several weeks away from teachers and homework, days filled with games, swimming, popsicles, and checking out the latest movies.

One summer, you’re an eight-year-old playing video games. Flash forward twenty years and your summers are spent toiling away in the working world. Summer vacation then becomes a couple of weeks you have to time just right, provided you have at least that much time saved up. Even if you happen to be a kid at heart, those nostalgia pangs come rushing in, and summer, a wondrous time when everything was once new, is a peak time for it.

If it’s any consolation, at least you’re not a lottery. Lotteries are constantly bombarded with nostalgia, some more than others. This past Saturday night wasn’t any different! And yet, lotteries are tied to the present and future, too. The (then recent) numbers that played June 26, 2021 were responsible for the future jackpots of $6.5 million for Lotto Texas and $88 million for Powerball.

Spreading Out for Summer

Lotto Texas and Powerball were primed for summer June 23, 2021. They welcomed the new season with rising jackpots. The former gracefully rose to $6.25 million, and the latter leapt to $75 million. Things got hotter with the presence of a similar spread and an Australia Play!

The Juneteenth Playback Special

June 19th, or Juneteenth, commemorated the end of slavery in Texas. Although the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed in 1863, it wasn’t until June 19, 1865 that Union soldiers sailed into Galveston and read the Emancipation Proclamation that slavery was abolished in Texas.

Yet, slavery hadn’t been fully abolished in the United States. Kentucky and Delaware, both Union states, continued to practice slavery until the ratification of the 13th Amendment six months later. This is because the Emancipation Proclamation only applied to the Confederacy, of which Texas was a part of.

Today, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, and as of this past Thursday, a federal holiday. Not only is Juneteenth a day of remembrance for black Americans,  but it’s also a day of celebration.

Lotto Texas and Powerball were linked to this momentous occasion this year. Lotto Texas kept it classy while the jackpot grew to $6 million. Meanwhile, Powerball took a different approach to get its jackpot up to $63 million.

As summer kicks into high gear, are more playbacks on the horizon in the coming week?

Blazing Hot Lotteries

Summer is coming, which means rising temperatures are ahead. Although we like to kick things off with Memorial Day, the true start of the season is on the Summer Solstice, which falls on either June 20th or the 21st in the Northern Hemisphere. And yet, nature cares not about what the calendar says. Blazing hot temperatures can and have occurred before the Solstice!

It was June 16, 2021 that Lotto Texas and Powerball got caught in a heatwave. Nothing record-breaking (yet?), but like the temperatures outside, the jackpots rose. Lotto Texas’s jackpot climbed to $5.75 million, and Powerball’s ascended to $52 million.

Bound by the {3-2-1} Pattern

The power of the {3-2-1} Pattern was felt far and wide Wednesday night! On June 9, 2021, this Pattern returned for both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Would you believe that this triggered a three-peat in Powerball? Meanwhile, the bump in Lotto Texas’s jackpot to $5.25 million was thanks to that Pattern encore.

A note before we continue: As of this writing, there’s been a delay in processing the results of Powerball’s drawing. Because of this, no one knows yet what the jackpot for Saturday’s drawing will be worth.

EDIT: As of 6/12/2021, the Powerball jackpot is $31 million.

The {3-2-1} Pattern sunk into Lotto Texas and Powerball and didn’t let go! Will it sink its teeth even further Saturday night, or will it let go of at least one lottery?

The Supercharged {3-2-1} Pattern

The {3-2-1} Pattern is a powerful one. Being a Pattern that can be found in Lotto Texas, Powerball, and Mega Millions, it means different things for different lotteries. For example, it’s a favorite in Lotto Texas, so much so that Pattern streaks aren’t unheard of. Although not as common in either Powerball or Mega Millions, its presence is surely felt there!

June 5, 2021 was a night that truly showed the might of the {3-2-1} Pattern. Not only did this Pattern appear in both Lotto Texas and Powerball, but it also kept the Lotto Texas jackpot at $5 million. Powerball didn’t go unscathed, either. Once the {3-2-1} Pattern was done, the jackpot there reset to $20 million. As we’ll see later, the {3-2-1} Pattern really had a heyday with Powerball.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern continue to hold a grip on both Lotto Texas and Powerball in the week ahead?

A Lottery’s Sense of Normalcy

Given that we’re dealing with lotteries here, the term “normalcy” is loaded. What’s “normal” for a lottery is far different than what we mere humans consider such. Oh, we crave excitement, but our actions show that we desire stability and predictability. Many of us wouldn’t be able to cope if our lives had the peaks and valleys most commonly seen in lotteries. There’s no set time for how long a jackpot grows; it can be over a period of several months, or it can be claimed just a single drawing after the reset.

The “normalcy” that returned on June 2, 2021 was Lotto Texas getting knocked back down to $5 million. A Plano player saw an opportunity and went for it. Meanwhile, Powerball’s jackpot was unashamedly high. With no one able to knock it off its high horse, the jackpot there grew to $286 million.

Will Powerball have a date with a jackpot winner Saturday night, or will the jackpot rise continue for at least another drawing?
