The Great and Powerful Pattern

What can be said about September 15th? Other than it being the halfway mark in September, it’s not that big of a deal, is it? After all, there’s nothing that great about the grand prizes for Lotto Texas and Powerball going up to $7.5 million and $163 million, is there? Nothing that great about the {3-2-1} Pattern playing seven times in a r–.

Who are we kidding!? Saturday night was a mighty big deal and not just because the jackpots rose! It was in Lotto Texas, the “small fry” of the Big Three lotteries, that a Pattern played seven times in a row. Not even the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, King of Mega Millions, has ever performed such a feat!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The record-breaking “seven-peat” featured winning numbers 2, 21, 24, 41, 46, and 52. This brings the number of times the {3-2-1} Pattern has played up to 830.

The six numbers that shattered a record. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1586 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.3% of the time. Recall that we last saw this Pattern on September 12th, 2018.

Now with 148 appearances, the 1 2 3 Specific Order has played in 17.8% of the 830 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 1586 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 9.33% of the time. Prior to Saturday night, the 1 2 3 Specific Order played on September 8th, 2018. How interesting it would’ve been if a playback occurred!

Similar Spread

Instead, another level of awesomeness was applied when a similar spread showed up. The spread for Saturday night’s numbers was 19:03:17:05:06. This is similar to the spread seen on September 25th, 2010. That night, the winning numbers were 1, 7, 26, 43, 46, and 51 and the spread was 06:19:17:03:05. Note how the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Of course, Lotto Texas couldn’t have just a {3-2-1} Pattern “seven-peat” or a similar spread. There had to be a repeating Four-Number Combination thrown into the mix, too!

And what of Powerball? Was it struck with a touch of Pattern Streak Fever?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball remained immune to streak fever, but it had a strong night. With winning numbers 2, 18, 19, 24, 34, and PB 3, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 60th appearance.

Of the 308 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 19.5% of them, and was last seen on June 23rd, 2018.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order made its 17th appearance and has now played in 28.3% of the 60 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 308 drawings into consideration, this General Order has played 5.52% of the time. Prior to Saturday night, the [1-3-1-1] General Order played on February 7th, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 1 3 1 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 17.6% of the 17 drawings where the General Order was [1-3-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5% of the 60 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.97% of all 308 drawings. The 1 3 1 0 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on July 30th, 2016.

This Combination made its debut in the March 4th, 2017 drawing.

It can be said without a doubt that September 15th was one of, if not the biggest night Lottery Binge has covered. Lotto Texas has developed a love affair with the {3-2-1} Pattern and we’ll need to keep an eye on whether the record-breaking streak continues, or there’s a break-up. Powerball hasn’t seen an encore in a while. Could a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore show up Wednesday night?

Pattern Streaks. They Do a Lottery Good

September 12, 2018 was a good night for lottery lovers. Not only did the Lotto Texas jackpot rise to $7.25 million, the Pattern streak held strong! Powerball, on the other hand, didn’t see a Pattern encore. What it did see was a rise in the jackpot, now standing at a cool $147 million.

In an amazing turn of events, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its sixth, yes sixth consecutive appearance! This time, the winning numbers were 1, 3, 12, 20, 36, and 44.

When taking all 1585 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 9.53% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 3 2 1 Specific Order played on August 11, 2018.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There was no similar spread this time. Instead, there was a repeating Four-Number Combination!

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Although Lotto Texas appeared to have the lion’s share of the action, Powerball was no slouch. With winning numbers 6, 28, 48, 63, 64, and PB 24, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 109th appearance.

Powerball had its own tricks. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 307 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 35.5% of them.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has now appeared in 34 drawings and has played in 31.2% of the 109 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 307 drawings into consideration, this General Order has played 11.1% of the time.

Now with nine appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 26.5% of the 34 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.26% of the 109 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 307 drawings, this Specific Order has played 2.93% of the time.

Instead of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore, Powerball gifted us with a playback. That is to say, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, and 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order all played together on September 5, 2018!

Three-Number Combination(s)

Lotto Texas’s Pattern streak is one to look out for in Saturday’s drawing? Will the {3-2-1} Pattern shatter all records and go for a seventh appearance? Could Powerball get a touch of Pattern streak fever?

The Four-Timing Charm of the {3-2-1} Pattern

We’re going straight for the jugular today. September 5th belonged to Lotto Texas. Yes, the $6.75 million jackpot was dwarfed by Powerball’s $114 million. However, Lotto Texas was the one that saw a Pattern play four times in a row. Furthermore, that four-peat had a couple of other goodies nestled inside.

There have been 1583 Lotto Texas drawings, and this Pattern has played in 52.2% of them. Not only did the {3-2-1} Pattern play in this past Saturday’s drawing, it was also seen in the August 29th and August 25th drawings!

Also on board the encore train was the 1 3 2 Specific Order. Now with 124 appearances, this Specific Order has played in 15% of the 827 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 1583 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 7.83% of the time.

Seeing as both the {3-2-1} Pattern and 1 3 2 Specific Order were last seen together this past Saturday, this is what we like to call a playback.

Four-Number Combination(s)

A playback wasn’t the only “big play” of the evening. There was 6, 28, 29, and 46, the lone repeating Four-Number Combination.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Although Powerball didn’t have an encore, it too had a strong showing. With winning numbers 6, 15, 50, 59, 60, and PB 13, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remained the lottery’s most commonly seen Pattern.

When taking all 305 drawings into consideration, this General Order has played 10.8% of the time. The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order accompanied the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned August 29th drawing.

However, a playback was not meant to be. Now with eight appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 24.2% of the 33 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 7.41% of the 108 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 305 drawings, this Specific Order has played 2.62% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order played on July 21st, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Could the {3-2-1} Pattern go for a fifth appearance Saturday night? Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Powerball?

End-of-August Double Playback Special

Lotto Texas and Powerball said goodbye to August this past Wednesday. Compared to what we saw this past Saturday and last Wednesday, August 29th was low-key. There were no similar spreads, and the {2-2-1-1} Pattern didn’t have a three-peat. Still, the lotteries packed a punch. Not only did Lotto Texas and Powerball see their respective jackpots rise to $6.25 million and $90 million, they both saw playbacks.

That is, the Pattern, General Order (Powerball), and Specific Order were seen together on a previous date. As we’ll see, each lottery had its own date.

Everything’s Better with Similarities

There’s a very good chance that Lotto Texas and Powerball casted off the August Doldrums for good! August 25th had strong showings for both lotteries. Not only did their respective grand prizes rise to $6 million and $80 million, there were some similarities to what we saw last time.

Of the 1580 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played in 52.2% of them, and was last seen on August 11, 2018.

Now with 134 appearances, the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played in 16.3% of the 824 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This statistic becomes 8.48% when taking all 1580 drawings into consideration. Prior to Saturday night, the 2 3 1 Specific Order played in the July 14, 2018 drawing.

Similar Spread

A similar spread happened for the second drawing in a row! If you recall our last post, this phenomenon happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. Saturday night had a spread of 07:13:09:04:12. This is similar to the one that occurred on May 13, 2015. That night, the winning numbers were 2, 15, 22, 31, 43, and 47, with a spread of 13:07:09:12:04.

This the first time in Lottery Binge history that a similar spread occurred in either lottery back-to-back.

Doldrums-B-Gone

The jackpots for Lotto Texas and Powerball inched upwards once more. Their respective jackpots are now $5.75 million and $70 million. But that’s not the focus of today’s post. Not really.

Let it be known that the night of August 22, 2018 was the night when Lotto Texas and Powerball joined forces and cast off the yoke of the “August Doldrums”! How was this achieved? Well, the introduction alone can’t do justice to what happened.

Prior to Wednesday night, both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 1 1 4 Specific Order previously played on August 15, 2018. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we had ourselves a playback!

And there was more. So much more.

Similar Spread

Lotto Texas also saw a similar spread. This happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. The spread for Wednesday night was 14:12:01:13:02. This is similar to the one that occurred on June 4, 2008. That night, the winning numbers were 4, 6, 18, 19, 32, and 46, with a spread of 02:12:01:13:14.

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball be able to keep the August Doldrums away on Saturday?

A Fork in the (Lottery) Road

The only thing Lotto Texas and Powerball really had in common was a rise in their jackpots. Their respective grand prizes are now $5.5 million and $60 million. August 18, 2018 also saw the lotteries go their separate ways. One lottery saw its most common Pattern while the other saw a Pattern that doesn’t play often.

Four Number Combination

Rare as they are in Mega Millions, there was indeed a repeating Four-Number Combination!

The Combination 26, 44, 45, and MB 11 made its debut in the January 16, 2015 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Naturally, the fallout from a repeating Four-Number Combination are four repeating Three-Number Combinations.

  • 26, 44, 45
  • 26, 44, MB 11
  • 26, 45, MB 11
  • 44, 45, MB 11

Of course, these debuted alongside the repeating Four-Number Combination mentioned earlier.

There was one more Combination: 11, 44, 45. This one made its debut in the March 17, 2015 drawing.

As summer vacation continues to wind down, will Mega Millions continue to ramp up in Friday’s drawing?

Encores! Encores Everywhere!

With no grand prize winner for either Lotto Texas or Powerball, their respective jackpots are now $15.25 million and $223 million. Although Powerball has officially joined the Mile-High Jackpot Club, the biggest draw of the evening was in the Patterns. Pattern-wise, August 4th was just like August 1st for both lotteries. In fact, Lotto Texas saw a three-peat and then some!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 4, 9, 11, 33, 48, and 54, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 822nd appearance.

Of the 1574 Lotto Texas drawings so far, this Pattern has played 52.2% of the time.

The 3 1 2 Specific Order also came back for an encore! Now with 155 appearances, this Specific Order has played in 18.9% of the 822 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 9.85% of all 1574 drawings.

Playback encores, inside three-peats no less, don’t happen often.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Nestled inside was a lone repeating Four-Number Combination: 4, 9, 11, and 33.

Given that there have been 296 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 35.5% of the time. As we’ll see shortly, the playback fever didn’t reach Powerball.

We last saw the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order in the June 17th, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball didn’t see any repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern/3 1 2 Specific Order play together again in Wednesday’s Lotto Texas drawing? Could Powerball see a three-peat with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern?
