Mega Millions and “The Rightful Order”

Mega Millions had reason to celebrate October 2, 2020:

  • It was Friday night
  • Lotto Texas was dethroned
  • Mega Millions became the one with the highest jackpot

To celebrate this “restoration”, there was the offering of a playback, and this one had plenty of goodies wrapped inside! One such goody was the very reason Mega Millions has the highest jackpot right now. With no one picking all six winning numbers, the prize jumped to $50 million.

General Lottery Analysis

Ask and ye shall receive! For all those hoping for a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat, your wish was granted with 9, 38, 47, 49, 68 and MB 25. This Pattern has now played 267 times.

The three-peat was a much-needed boost! Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

There have now been 607 Mega Millions drawings, and this Pattern has played 44% of the time.

It turns out that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern wasn’t the only one who came back. The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order decided to make its 81st appearance this past Friday night! This General Order has now played in 30.3% of the 267 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 13.3% of all 607 drawings.

Oh, we’re not done yet.

The 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order got a touch of the encore itch. Now with 19 appearances, this Specific Order has played in 22.2% of the 81 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 7.12% of the 267 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 3.13% of all 607 drawings.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-2-1-1] General Order, and 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order were last seen together in the September 29, 2020 drawing.

Four-Number Combination

Mega Millions was in such a happy state that a repeating Four-Number Combination was added to the mix! Combination 9, 38, 47 and 49 made its debut July 1, 2014.

Gotta love that repeating Four-Number Combination! Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Three-Number Combinations

Naturally, this repeating Four-Number Combination gave birth to four repeating Three-Number Combinations, all of which debuted in the same July 14th drawing:

  • 9, 38, 47
  • 9, 38, 49
  • 38, 47, 49
  • 9, 47, 49

Why not add one more? Three-Number Combination 47, 49 and 68 debuted June 29, 2018.

With Lotto Texas out of the picture for the foreseeable future, there’s still the matter of frenemy Powerball. That lottery is known to take large leaps with jackpot boosts and the jackpot over there may very well eclipse Mega Millions’. Will Mega Millions and Powerball be locked in a battle of who can get the largest jackpot, or will one get knocked out of the ring early?

Some Things are Not Worth Repeating

It finally happened. After 8.5 months, Lotto Texas was brought down. Oh, don’t feel sorry for Lotto Texas; it had to happen sooner or later. Although both the {3-3} Pattern and the 3 3 0 Specific Order were a hit last time, they brought about the crash of September 30, 2020 and made a lone player from Seguin much richer. Mega Millions and Powerball hugged and high-fived each other, happy that the “uppity little lottery” was put back in its place. The prize was reset to $5 million.

Amidst the chaos, Powerball held strong. With the help of an Australia Play, its position in lottery high society was maintained. The jackpot increased to $41 million.

There have now been 1799 Lotto Texas drawings, and this Pattern has played 7.95% of the time.

Now with 45 appearances, the 3 3 0 Specific Order has played in 31.5% of the 143 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1799 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.50% of the time.

Both the {3-3} Pattern and the 3 3 0 Specific Order were last seen September 26, 2020.

Similar Spread

What about a similar spread? That should’ve been enough to keep Lotto Texas in the good graces of lottery high society, right? No. No it wasn’t.

The spread for this past Wednesday night’s numbers was 07:05:03:08:03. This was similar to the spread from the November 1, 2000 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 27, 30, 35, 38, 45 and 43, with the spread being 03:05:03:07:08. Different numbers played both nights but notice that the differences between numbers were the same, although in different orders.

Four-Number Combinations

A trio of repeating Four-Number Combinations were a part of the scene, one of which played twice before:

Three-Number Combinations

There was also room for two repeating Three-Number Combinations!

With Lotto Texas out of the way, Powerball can now focus on other things, like, “How long will it take to have a monster-sized jackpot?” It may a while yet but to Powerball, the natural order has been restored and all is right with the world.

As for Lotto Texas? Well, it had a taste of the high life, and it’s not going to let this setback get in the way! But we must get through Saturday’s drawing first. It isn’t likely that the {3-3} Pattern will make a three-peat, but it is 2020, after all. We’ll need to keep an eye on it!

The Proud, the Stubborn

September 26, 2020 featured strong showings from both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Having been on top for the past 1.5 weeks, Lotto Texas wasn’t ready to give that up! The players were thwarted once again, and the jackpot hit $47 million.

Meanwhile, Powerball also saw a jackpot boost. The prize jumped from $25 million to $34 million, closing the gap between the two lotteries.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball’s jackpot boost got a little help from a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak! With winning numbers 11, 21, 27, 36, 62 and PB 24, this Pattern played for the fourth time in a row. Saturday night also marked the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern’s 200th appearance.

And the Pattern streak continues! Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

There have now been 520 Powerball drawings, and this Pattern has played 38.5% of the time. Recall that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was last seen September 23, 2020.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, now with 50 appearances, has played in 25% of the 200 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. We last saw the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order in the March 7, 2020 drawing.

Three-Number Combinations

A trio of repeating Three-Number Combinations also came to Powerball’s aid:

A bout of repeating Three-Number Combos! Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given the current rate things are going, it won’t be much longer before Powerball has the largest jackpot. Lotto Texas will either have to start seeing larger jackpot increases or will have to get reacquainted to not being top dog. Will Powerball’s dream come true soon?

A Reset Deferred

It’s been exactly one week since the Powerball jackpot was won. Since that time, Powerball continues to pick up the pieces, and Lotto Texas remains on top. The prize in that lottery is now worth $45.5 million. The natural order hasn’t been restored in Powerball’s mind. No way that Lotto Texas stayed on top! What’s a “disgraced” lottery to do?

A {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat was part of Powerball’s arsenal, though that wasn’t enough to soothe the fevered desire to be back on top. Even with a volley of repeating Three-Number Combinations, the jackpot rose just a bit, from $22 million to $25 million. Patience, dear Powerball. Patience.

Will Powerball’s wish for Lotto Texas to be knocked from the top come true Saturday night, or will the lottery from down south hold strong?

At the Top and Twice as Much

Lotto Texas was in a world of its own. Powerball was forced to reset, and Lotto Texas was now on top. And, after what happened September 19, 2020, it extended its stay until at least the next drawing. The players failed once more to match all six numbers. Rather than go all out, a sliver of that old-time Lotto Texas respectability shone through. The jackpot rose to “just” $44 million.

Powerball began the task of rebuilding its clout. Things got off to a nice start, for players there failed to match all the numbers as well. In fact, $22 million isn’t a bad prize. Although, it was a reminder to Powerball that Lotto Texas had a jackpot now worth twice as much. A bitter pill to swallow for a lottery notorious for monster-sized jackpots, to be sure.

Neither Mega Millions nor Powerball are strangers to being the ones on top, but for Lotto Texas, it’s a wondrous, yet terrifying experience. Staying on top can either be long-lasting, or short-lived. And, Lotto Texas hasn’t forgotten that when the time comes for its reset, the climb back to the top will be much harder and much longer. Will it be able to hold off the reset for at least another drawing?

Jackpots Ride Again!

The Grand Combination Explosion

When lotteries get into lofty positions, they’re (usually) not willing to give them up easily. Lotto Texas has had a taste of the lottery high life. What with its jackpot closer to $40 million than it ever has been in a very long time, it’s has no plans to go down so easily! And even though Powerball is no stranger to being in such a comfortable spot, it too must put up the occasional fight to prove its worth.

When you come for lotteries, you best not miss.

Except, everyone missed September 5, 2020. Both lotteries had the insane idea of lobbing at least one repeating Four-Number Combination. Lotto Texas also threw in a similar spread for good measure. Sure, the country club hall is a mess, but Lotto Texas was pleased as punch upon reaching $39 million. Powerball was content with $75 million and thought there was no way that “uppity” Lotto Texas could catch up.

Once all 1792 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.40% of the time. Prior to Saturday night, the 4 2 0 Specific Order played June 6, 2020.

Similar Spread

Saturday night’s numbers had a spread of 05:07:01:03:15. March 18, 2017 had a spread similar to this. That night, the winning numbers were 12, 15, 16, 23, 38 and 43, and their spread was 03:01:07:15:05. Different numbers played both nights but notice that the differences between numbers were the same, although in different orders. A fine specimen of a similar spread, wouldn’t you say?

This Combination debuted in the July 11, 2018 drawing.

Three-Number Combinations

Of course, that repeating Four-Number Combination had four repeating Three-Number Combinations as part of its entourage:

  • 21, 27, 47
  • 21. 27, PB 7
  • 27, 47, PB 7
  • 21, 47, PB 7

The top three Combinations made their debut in the July 11th drawing mentioned earlier. Although the last Combination in the group played on that date (naturally), its debut was January 27, 2018.

But, wait! There’s one more Combination: 15, 22 and 27 debuted June 24, 2020.

Blue and red abound! Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com

As the days grow shorter, the jackpots grow larger. Lotto Texas isn’t going to go down without a fight, and Powerball is content with the gap between them. Of course, if Powerball isn’t careful, it may find itself looking at Lotto Texas from behind. On the other hand, fate may deal Lotto Texas a bad hand, leaving Powerball to gloat as the “uppity” little lottery from down South has to start all over again at $5 million. What awaits these lotteries in the week ahead?

Lottery Euphoria

September 2, 2020 was a win for lottery high society.

The euphoria was strong in Lotto Texas. So strong, in fact, that it didn’t notice the mob of players on the country club grounds, just itching to take it down. Their efforts failed, and the winnings climbed to $37.5 million. Ah well, they thought. Let’s try for Powerball.

Except, the mob had been escorted off the premises before they could go for Powerball. As it, too, saw no grand prize winners, the jackpot rose to $66 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The mob got a swift kick to the pants with an Australia Play. With winning numbers 7, 13, 26, 32, 46 and 54, the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 242nd appearance together.

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball retain their statuses Saturday night?

The Greatest Flattery

In a chaotic world that appears to be growing ever more chaotic, humans evolved a little something they like to call “escapism”. Something to make them forget about the pain, suffering, and needless tedium in their lives. Let’s delve into a little bit of that escapism and look at the continuing strife between Lotto Texas and Powerball. In the case of the former, nothing else mattered in its quest to remain in the good graces of lottery high society.

The night of August 29, 2020 saw these lotteries imitate one another. Not only did they both play their most commonly seen Patterns, these were encores! Lotto Texas was rewarded with a jackpot that rose to $36.75 million, and Powerball rose to $56 million.

Still, the question remains: Who imitated whom?

As it is in the human world, it’s difficult to attain clout. What took months to achieve a dream for Lotto Texas can easily be undone in the next drawing. And Powerball, though it always had a “higher” starting position, isn’t immune, either. Will both lotteries continue their climb at the start of September, or will at least one of them fall?

A Lottery’s Grit and Determination

Hurricane Laura made landfall on the Gulf Coast of the United States early this morning, leaving a path of devastation. Although Lottery Trend headquarters dodged a bullet, our neighbors to the east did not. Please keep those affected by Laura in your thoughts and, if you can, donate.

Lotto Texas is loving the clout, the high life, even, and it wasn’t going to give that up easily. Playing safe with a {3-2-1} Pattern encore reaped big rewards! The jackpot rose to $36 million, and Lotto Texas got to extend its stay in the club.

Powerball, meanwhile, quietly rose to $47 million. It could rest easy knowing an $11 million gap existed between it and Lotto Texas.
