What Goes Up…

What goes up does come down (eventually), and lottery jackpots are no exception. However, this did not apply to either Lotto Texas or Powerball. Much like the fireworks of July 4, 2020, the jackpots soared ever upward. Lotto Texas shot up to $25 million and Powerball rocketed to $69 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern streak came to an end by the hands of an Australia Play. With winning numbers 1, 14, 22, 36, 38 and 40, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 240th appearances.

There have now been 1774 Lotto Texas drawings, and an Australia Play has been featured in 13.5% of them. An Australia Play was last seen in the May 9, 2020 drawing.

Four-Number Combinations

The simple act of stopping a Pattern streak was enough of a fireworks show. No repeating Four-Number Combinations this time around.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 32nd appearance with 16, 21, 27, 60, 61 and PB 6.

This Pattern has now played in 6.45% of the 496 Powerball drawings and was last seen June 17, 2020.

The [3-2-1] General Order, now with 16 appearances, has played in 50% of the 32 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Three-Number Combination(s)

Finding the {3-2-1} Pattern where it isn’t seen very often was enough to block the occurrence of repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the jackpots continue their ascension Wednesday night?

The Pattern Streak Double Strikedown

Lotto Texas and Powerball have acted like a playground clique these days. They play together, so it’s expected that they’ll copy each other, or even be in sync with each other now and again. Lately, both lotteries have been in the grip of streaks with their most common Patterns.

On May 9, 2020, the Pattern streaks came to an end. Both the {3-2-1} Pattern and the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streaks were struck down with Australia Plays. That is, the Pattern, General Order (applicable to Powerball only) and the Specific Order were the same. This interesting turn of events kept the jackpots climbing. Lotto Texas rose to $15.25 million and Powerball rose to $77 million.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball’s Australia Play was thanks to winning numbers 12, 18, 42, 48, 65 and PB 19. This marked the 27th appearance of the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order.

The Australia Play has occurred in 5.625% of the 480 Powerball drawings, and was last seen October 9, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Three-Number Combinations were not part of the agenda Saturday night.

The Pattern streaks may be over, but the prizes continue their march ever upward. Will the jackpots continue to climb, or will at least one of them be struck down next week?

All Roads Lead to Rising Jackpots

Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their jackpots rise to $12.75 million and $37 million, respectively. However, the path each lottery took Wednesday night was fraught with its own perils, er, surprises. One surprise was an Australia Play, the other a Pattern encore.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The April 22, 2020 Lotto Texas drawing had 9, 17, 19, 30, 44 and 50 as the winning numbers. This marked the 238th appearance for both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order. Around these parts, that’s called an Australia Play.

Of the 1753 Lotto Texas drawings, 13.6% of them have been Australia Plays; the last time we saw one was March 14, 2020.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations Wednesday night.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

There was in fact, a double encore in Powerball! First was the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 1, 33, 35, 40, 69, and PB 24. This Pattern has now played 92 times.

An encore from an unexpected place! Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have now been 475 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 19.4% of the time.

The other encore was the [1-3-1-1] General Order. Now with 32 appearances, this General Order has played in 34.8% of the 92 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 475 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 6.74% of the time.

Both the {3-1-1-1} Pattern and the [1-3-1-1] General Order were last seen April 18, 2020.

Now with five appearances, the 1 0 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 15.625% of the 32 drawings where the General Order was [1-3-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.43% of the 92 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.05% of all 475 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 1 0 3 0 1 1 Specific Order played June 12, 2019.

As April is nearing its end, we’ll need to keep an eye out for Pattern encores. Take the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in Powerball, for example. After its encore, is a three-peat in the cards Saturday night? Will we also see an Australia Play encore in Lotto Texas?

Some Patterns Like to Repeat Themselves

This week belonged to the Australia Play! Lotto Texas saw this plucky play go for the encore Saturday night. With no one able to pick all six numbers, the jackpot climbed to $9.25 million.

Powerball didn’t see the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat, although it was close to embracing a playback. A jackpot increasing to $130 million was proof that a “regular” play can be just as effective, all things considered.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The March 14, 2020 drawing featured the 237th appearance of the {2-2-2} Pattern and 2 2 2 Specific Order. The winning numbers were 7, 13, 26, 28, 40, and 48.

The Playback, the Encore, and the Combination Madness

The world is currently in the grip of a pandemic. Closures and cancellations are happening left and right, work-at-home policies are being enacted, and toilet paper might as well be gold. Now is the time to plan ahead, practice good hygiene and use common sense. When others are losing their cool, don’t lose yours.

Considering all that’s happening, lotteries are the lucky ones. After all, they don’t worry themselves with illnesses or economies. Their biggest concern is their jackpots and what to do with them. Should they throw players a bone and let them win, or is it more fun to thwart them? Sure, the players will be spitting nails and gnashing their teeth, but many of them will come back and try again.

In a move that surprised (almost) no one, Lotto Texas and Powerball opted to thwart the players Wednesday night. This sent their respective jackpots to $9 million and $120 million.

HallowThankmas

A shout out to a work colleague who gave me the idea for today’s post title!

To all you readers who didn’t know if I had a day job, you do now…

There are only two months left in the year. You know what that means, right? We’re talking about a mishmash of decorations, turkey vs. ham (turducken, even), looking for the best deals on gifts, and wondering if you’ve made it on the “Nice List”.

That’s right. It’s HallowThankmas time!

Lotto Texas and Powerball got into the holiday spirit. They took advantage of Halloween Eve, bounding about and keeping the players at arm’s length. This paid off, as the lotteries made like ghosts when the players got too close. The prizes rose to $7.5 million and $150 million, respectively.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

To kick off the holiday season, an Australia Play made its 234th appearance! The winning numbers for October 30, 2019 were 10, 11, 28, 31, 40, and 53.

There may not have been monster jackpots abound this Halloween, but there’s the rest of the holiday season! That’s more opportunities for Australia plays, encores, and yes, jackpot hikes. Will Lotto Texas and Powerball ride a winless streak into the new year?

Lotto Texas and Powerball Hop into a Bar

The title of today’s post sounds like the setup for a corny joke, doesn’t it? Well, what happened June 5th, 2019 was no laughing matter! The dust may have settled in Powerball, but that meant more reason for it to get back up again. Although a far cry from the monstrous prize won at the beginning of the month, $53 million is not small change!

Lotto Texas, ever the levelheaded one, was no slouch, either. With no grand prize winner, its jackpot rose to a respectable $7.25 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Nothing like an Australia Play to leave the lottery players itching to try again! Winning numbers 3, 8, 22, 29, 51, and 52 made the 232nd appearance of both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order possible.

Of the 383 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 6.53% of them.

The [3-2-1] General Order, now with 13 appearances, has played in 52% of the 25 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 3.39% of all 383 drawings.

Both the {3-2-1} Pattern and the [3-2-1] General Order were last seen May 11, 2019.

A crazy-large jackpot isn’t the only way for a lottery to stand out. Wednesday night was the debut of the 0 3 2 0 0 1 Specific Order! With that said, this Specific Order has played in 7.69% of the 13 drawings where the General Order was [3-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 4% of the 25 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 383 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.26% of the time.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time.

Whoever thinks that only crazy-large jackpots are the way to wowing the public must not have paid attention to Wednesday night! Lotto Texas and Powerball showed that a more subtle approach can work just as well. Even so, the weekend is right around the corner and that’s when things tend to get rowdy. We’ll have to wait and see if that rowdiness appears or if the mellowness of June continues.

The Aussie Bounce and Playback Pounce

May 29th played host to Lotto Texas and Powerball’s last drawings for the month. As thrilling as it would have been to see the Powerball jackpot beast be toppled, it wasn’t meant to be. One could argue that what happened Wednesday night was just as exciting, if not more. Sure, the prizes in Lotto Texas and Powerball respectively climbed to $6.75 million and $350 million, but how often do you see playbacks join forces to thwart the players?

With 1659 Lotto Texas drawings, the Australia Play has shown up in 13.9% of them and was last seen May 8, 2019. Given how joined at the hip the Pattern and Specific Order were (it is the nature of the Australia Play in Lotto Texas after all), you could say that this was the ultimate playback!

Now with three appearances, the 1 0 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 14.3% of the 21 drawings where the General Order was [1-3-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in roughly 3.90% of the 77 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.79% of all 381 drawings.

The {3-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-3-1-1] General Order, and 1 0 3 0 1 1 Specific Order were all seen together in the April 24, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The double playback action has Lotto Texas and Powerball fired up for June. On one hand, we all want to win, especially that crazy-high jackpot. On the other hand, we’re all asking in the back of our minds “How high can Powerball go?”

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to run on their momentum or will at least one of them start June with their sails deflated?
