Saturday Night Boomerang

As August begins to fade into September, the summer holidays are over, or will be soon enough. With another summer coming and going, there are a couple of things that won’t fade away on a schedule. Jackpots! Then again, why should they? Jackpots aren’t affected all that much by human affairs, unless of course you consider adding another day their lotteries have drawings.

Nevertheless, the week ended the way it started. August 28, 2021 featured a playback for one lottery and a Pattern three-peat for the other, which only fed into their ever-growing jackpots. As Lotto Texas and Powerball psyched themselves up for September (there’s still one more August drawing to go), their respective jackpots grew to $13.25 million and $332 million.

Growing Jackpots Are Happy Jackpots

August 14, 2021 marked the end of the {3-2-1} Pattern streak in Lotto Texas. History has shown us that Pattern streaks aren’t necessary in boosting jackpots, and Saturday night proved history right.

An Australia Play was responsible for keeping the Lotto Texas jackpot above $10 million. So much so, in fact, that the prize grew to $11.25 million. Meanwhile, Powerball’s jackpot grew to a fat and happy $274 million.

1001 Lottery Nights

This post is a tale about Lotto Texas and Powerball, two lotteries that couldn’t be any more different. Lotto Texas is the quieter, statelier lottery. Its prizes are often kept in a respectable range. Powerball is brash, in-your-face, and sometimes resorts to extreme measures to get attention.

Yet, despite these differences, both lotteries had one thing in common this past Saturday night: rising jackpots. March 6, 2021 saw the prize in Lotto Texas rise to $6.75 million, and Powerball jumped up to $155 million.
