Spreading Saturday Cheer

Both Lotto Texas and Powerball had the honor of ringing in December. Yes, folks, we’re in the home stretch, and soon we’ll be seeing 2021 in the rear-view mirror! Ironically, lotteries help propel our dreams for the future by drawing heavily on the past.

December 1, 2021 was a night that resembled this past Saturday. Both Patterns featured that night returned Wednesday, and one lottery saw a similar spread. By drawing from the recent past, the future jackpots for Lotto Texas and Powerball rose to $11.5 million and $278 million, respectively.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 1021st appearance with winning numbers 6, 9, 13, 27, 33 and 41.

There have now been 1936 Lotto Texas drawings, and this Pattern has now played 52.7% of the time. We last saw the {3-2-1} Pattern November 27, 2021.

Now with 182 appearances, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.8% of the 1021 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1936 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 9.4% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 3 2 1 Specific Order played October 2, 2021.

Similar Spread

Wednesday night’s numbers had a spread of 03:04:14:06:08. A spread that was much like this took place in what, in lottery terms, may as well be the distant past. On May 16, 2001, the spread was 04:14:03:06:08, produced by winning numbers 15, 19, 33, 36, 42 and 50. Whether it was twenty weeks ago or twenty years ago, a similar spread will feature differences in numbers that are the same yet in different orders. Of course, the numbers played those nights are likely to be different as well.

December has only begun, and it looks like Powerball may be setting up for an explosive Christmas jackpot. Lotto Texas is nothing to sneeze at, either! Will either the {3-2-1} or the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern return Saturday night and send the jackpots upward or give someone an early Christmas gift?

A Spread Here and a Debut There

Lotto Texas and Powerball took things down a notch Saturday night. For starters, the former didn’t see an Australia Play return, and the latter didn’t go as crazy on the repeating Three-Number Combinations as it did last time. Nevertheless, the momentum of rising jackpots was still present. Lotto Texas, with an assist from a not-so-common Pattern, pushed the jackpot to $6.5 million. Powerball also went with the root of playing an uncommonly seen Pattern and sent its jackpot to $65 million.

October 16, 2021 saw the 205th appearance of the {4-2} Pattern, with winning numbers 26, 27, 32, 36, 37, and 42.

Similar Spread

Before we get to the repeating Four-Number Combinations (mild spoiler: there was one), we need to talk about the similar spread. Saturday night’s numbers had a spread of 01:05:04:01:05. This was similar to what was seen back on May 4, 2002. Then, the winning numbers were 4, 5, 10, 11, 16 and 20, and their spread was 01:05:01:05:04. Even though the differences between the numbers played were the same, note that the order in which they played is different.

Making its first-ever appearance (in Powerball, at least) was the 0 0 4 1 0 1 Specific Order! With that said, this Specific Order has now played in 12.5% of the eight drawings where the General Order was [4-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.56% of the 18 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.16% of the 638 Powerball drawings.

Mega Millions Spreads Out

Some spreads are nicer than others. Bedspreads add a layer of finesse to freshly made beds. Jellies and jams can help mask the toast that got burnt (again). Mega Millions has no need for beds or strawberry jam, but it does like spreads. All while this lottery engages in its love-hate relationship with the players, a similar spread does pop up once in a while. August 17, 2021 was one of those “once in a while” occasions. That and a playback cut short pushed the jackpot to $256 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 301st appearance with winning numbers 3, 6, 16, 38, 56 and MB 24.

Will Mega Millions continue to spread the good word of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Friday night?

Sticking with the Tried and True

The theme for August 4, 2021 was “Repeat”. Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw at least one repeating Four-Number Combination and one repeating Three-Number Combination, respectively. More importantly, they fell into a groove with their most common Patterns. Sticking with the tried and true brought a playback, a three-peat, and rising jackpots! Lotto Texas rose to $9.25 million, and Powerball crossed comfortably into the realm of $226 million.

Drawings of Olympian Proportions

The time has come once more. In a few days, the Summer Olympics will be broadcasted live from Tokyo. As we humans find ourselves embroiled in controversy concerning the games, Lotto Texas and Powerball engaged in something scandalous themselves. July 17, 2021 was a night abound with mass outpourings of repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations. One even had enough room for a similar spread! To add on to the spectacle, the jackpots rose to $8 million and $161 million, respectively.

The Spreading Power of Jackpots

Special thanks to guest blogger Romulun Harris for filling in on Saturday!

The Mega Millions jackpot was the talk of the lottery world. For three months, that oak tree was nurtured by specific Patterns and the frustration of determined players. That frustration came to an end this past Friday when a Pennsylvanian player cut the mighty tree down.

As one tree fell, two others stood tall. May 22, 2021 was a busy night for Lotto Texas and Powerball. A Pattern three-peat and a similar spread were two stand-out developments. These fed into the jackpots rising once again. Lotto Texas jumped to $17.5 million, and Powerball expanded to $236 million.

Lotto Texas

The Mega Millions Springtime Spread

The phrase that best defined the night of April 20, 2021 for Mega Millions was, “Onward and Upward”. This lottery decided not to hang out with either the {2-1-1-1-1} or {3-2-1} Patterns, as it had been of late. As it went looking for another Pattern to pal around with, a similar spread got picked up along the way. That, and the jackpot rose to $277 million.

Double the Pattern, Double the Beatdown

Something interesting took place January 23, 2021. Lotto Texas and Powerball were in tandem with each other. See, they both played the same Pattern. For Lotto Texas, it meant a jackpot that rose to $5.25 million. For Powerball, well…Powerball was pushed back down. Thanks to a player from New Jersey, the prize remained at $20 million.
