Revenge of the First of July

July 1st, obviously, is the first day of July. This year, it took on another meaning in the lottery world. It was on July 8, 2020, that it came back with a vengeance in both Lotto Texas and Powerball. In fact, it completely overtook the former. The end result was a jackpot boost to $25.5 million and $79 million, respectively.

Will it be playbacks (or near playbacks) that boost the jackpots even higher or bring them down Saturday night? Or, do the lotteries have something else in store?

What Goes Up…

What goes up does come down (eventually), and lottery jackpots are no exception. However, this did not apply to either Lotto Texas or Powerball. Much like the fireworks of July 4, 2020, the jackpots soared ever upward. Lotto Texas shot up to $25 million and Powerball rocketed to $69 million.

Looking a Bit Like June Out There

A special thanks to guest blogger Romulun Harris for filling in yesterday at such short notice!

The calendar said June is done, but Lotto Texas and Powerball said, “Really, now?” Both lotteries kicked off July with recently seen Patterns. This solidified the Pattern streak in Lotto Texas and its jackpot soared to $24.5 million! Powerball held strong; its jackpot rose to $60 million.

June is Pattern Streak Season

Lotto Texas has grown so much! Once a quiet, unassuming little lottery, it’s not only more confident, it has a large jackpot. This jackpot has grown over the course of several months, and thanks to the {3-2-1} Pattern streak, it received another boost! With no one able to pick all six winning numbers, the jackpot climbed to $23.5 million.

Powerball didn’t have a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore to end its June run. Playing another Pattern sent the jackpot to $51 million.

Leaping, Bounding and Holding Strong

To our readers, especially our U.S. readers: The COVID-19 pandemic is NOT a hoax. States have halted reopening phases and countries are talking about banning (not quarantining, banning) U.S. travelers. If you want everything to go back to “normal”, then stop throwing tantrums, put on your big boy pants and wear a mask and practice social distancing. Stay home if you can. You can’t play the lottery if you’re dead.

Compared to humans, lotteries are uninhibited. They can go out and about without worrying about the things that ail us.

And on June 24, 2020, the lotteries held strong. Lotto Texas continued to go steady with the {3-2-1} Pattern and its jackpot graciously climbed to $23.25 million. Powerball grew by leaps and bounds, seeing a boost from $33 million to $42 million.

Crying Out for Playbacks

The seasons weren’t the only things that changed June 20, 2020. Lotto Texas and Powerball, having once both shared a love of the {3-2-1} Pattern, went their separate ways. The former stuck with the Pattern, and with a playback, no less. Meanwhile, the latter opted for a different Pattern. Taking different approaches led to a $22.75 million jackpot for Lotto Texas and $33 million for Powerball.

Is a playback three-peat in the cards for Lotto Texas Wednesday night?

The Fashionable {3-2-1} Pattern

The {3-2-1} Pattern is popular in Lotto Texas; it wouldn’t be the most commonly seen Pattern otherwise! But, did you know that this Pattern is also popular with both Mega Millions and Powerball?

Truthfully, the Pattern isn’t as prevalent in those lotteries. However, it made an (encore) appearance in Mega Millions this past Tuesday, and it showed up in both Lotto Texas and Powerball June 17, 2020. The {3-2-1} Pattern not only proved popular for all three lotteries so far this week, it had jackpot boosting powers! Lotto Texas stood strong with a boost to $22 million. Powerball did a happy dance as its jackpot grew to $25 million.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern retain its popularity with Lotto Texas and Powerball Saturday night?

The Fight for Dominance

Today’s title isn’t something you’d expect for a Lottery Binge post. But you see, things haven’t been exactly “normal” in the lottery world these past few weeks. We had a lottery that’s known for its respectability (rhymes with “Potto Lexus”) become the one with the largest jackpot. In fact, this past Saturday saw its jackpot rise (again!) to $21.25 million. Powerball, determined to not have its jackpot won so easily, pulled itself back up. With no one able to pick all six numbers, the jackpot rose to $22 million.

Lotto Texas Leads the Pack

Hell froze over June 10, 2020. In a Lottery Binge first, Lotto Texas (that wasn’t a typo) possessed the largest jackpot! With no one able to pick the correct six numbers, the prize ascended to $21 million.

Powerball got whacked upside the head by an enormous block of cheese. A Wisconsinite snatched the prize before Powerball could say, “Eh?” Naturally, the prize reset itself to $20 million.

Lotto Texas is currently king of the hill, jackpot-wise. We will see on Saturday night if it can keep its crown for a little longer or if it will be dethroned. It would be wise for Lotto Texas to know that the bigger they come, the harder they fall!

The Twisted Jackpot Tale

For the longest time, Lotto Texas was the “respectable” lottery. While Mega Millions and Powerball flirted with monstrously large jackpots from time to time, Lotto Texas never dared to go that high.

Sometime over the past few months, it developed an attitude shift. We’re not sure when this change in personality occurred, but June 6, 2020 was another night that the Lotto Texas jackpot resisted a takedown. As a result, it climbed to $20.75 million.

Powerball’s reset point isn’t as high as it once was. Whether that caused a boost in Lotto Texas’s confidence remains to be seen. Regardless, a prize that bumped up to $22 million is plenty to start that (early) retirement nest egg!
