Pre-Super Bowl Playbacks

Ah, the Super Bowl. The teams, the commercials, the over-the-top halftime shows, truly (pigskin) football is the real American pastime. As Lottery Trend Country was getting ready for the Super Bowl, things were not quiet on the lottery front. The theme for February 3rd was “Playback”, and both Lotto Texas and Powerball delivered the goods.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The Australia Play is the ultimate playback. Both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 208th appearances, with winning numbers 3, 12, 24, 29, 38, and 50.

Now that there have been 1522 Lotto Texas drawings, Australia Plays have occurred 13.7% of the time. We last saw one in the January 20, 2018 drawing.

An Australia Play is a playback. However, a playback isn’t always an Australia Play.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Accompanying the Australia Play was the repeating Four-Number Combination 3, 12, 38, and 50.

This Combination made its debut nearly six years ago in the February 22, 2012 drawing.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball was also bitten by the playback bug! The 15th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern was marked by winning numbers 15, 23, 27, 48, 53, and PB 6.

With 244 Powerball drawings to date, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 6.15% of the time.

The [3-2-1] General Order, now with five appearances, has played in 33.3% of the 15 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 244 drawings, this General Order has played 2.05% of the time.

Now with two appearances, the 0 3 0 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 40% of the five drawings where [3-2-1] was the General Order of the evening. This statistic becomes 13.3% when taking the 15 drawings where {3-2-1} played into account. Finally, when looking at all 244 drawings, this Specific Order has played 0.82% of the time.

The {3-2-1} Pattern, the [3-2-1] General Order, and the 0 3 0 2 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the January 27, 2018 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will there be more playbacks and Australia Plays in the week ahead?

Extremities

The weather has been extreme these past few days. On one end, sub-freezing temperatures drove most U.S. Southerners inside, to the point that the streets were abandoned. Siberians, on the other hand, took selfies of themselves with frozen eyelashes in sub-zero temperatures. At the other end, it was hot enough in Australia that the brains of bats were boiling.

So far, 2018 has been a year of extremes in the lottery world as well. The year started with an insanely huge jackpot in Powerball, and then things cooled down a bit. January 17th saw things heat up for both Lotto Texas and Powerball.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 9, 16, 19, 33, 40, and 46, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order played for 206th time Wednesday night.

Given that there have been 1517 Lotto Texas drawings, the Australia Play has occurred 13.6% of the time. Interestingly, we last saw one in the January 6, 2018 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

An Australia Play wasn’t the only big thing to happen in Lotto Texas. There were two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 9, 19, 33, 46 (Debuted June 5, 2010)
  • 9, 16, 19, 40 (Debuted October 10, 2009)

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

On the Powerball side of things, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, right off the heels of this past Saturday, went for the three-peat. With winning number 3, 33, 37, 51, 57, and PB 21, this Pattern has now played 89 times.

This statistic becomes 10.1% when looking at the 89 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-1-1-1-1}. Finally, when taking all 239 drawings into account, the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order played 3.77% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order in the December 16, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination was 37, 57, and PB 21.

This Combination made its debut in the November 21, 2015 drawing.

Will Saturday’s drawing give way to a fourth consecutive appearance for Powerball’s {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern? Will the Australia Play make an encore in Lotto Texas?

Big Things in Small Packages

The saying “Big things come in small packages” is one way to describe the night of January 6th. Lotto Texas may have repeating Four-Number Combinations from at least fifteen years ago, but Powerball has insanely high jackpots! Speaking of, Powerball stole the show, with a player in New Hampshire made $559 million richer. Lotto Texas, however, shall not be ignored. With Powerball getting all the media attention, one mustn’t forget that two lotteries play on Saturday nights.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 10, 11, 30, 32, 38, and 44, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 205th appearance.

As of the 1514th Lotto Texas drawing, an Australia Play has occurred 13.5% of the time. We last saw one in the December 13, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Thrilling as Australia Plays may be, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations Saturday night.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern gave it another go, with winning numbers 12, 29, 30, 33, 61, and PB 26. This time, someone walked away very happy.

The power of Powerball. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 47 of the 236 Powerball drawings. Statistically, that puts this Pattern at having played 19.9% of the time.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order, now with fifteen appearances, has played in 31.9% of the 47 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 6.36% of all 236 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the [1-3-1-1] General Order was seen December 2, 2017.

The big night in Powerball also saw the debut of the 1 0 3 0 1 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 6.67% of the fifteen drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared, and 2.13% of the 47 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, when taking all 236 drawings into account, the 1 0 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has played 0.42% of the time.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball thought an insanely high jackpot was enough. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either Pattern repeat in Wednesday’s drawing? Will there be more debuting Specific Orders?

The Wednesday Night Thaw

To start today’s post, here are a couple of facts about Australia:

  1. It’s the only country that’s also a continent.
  2. It’s one of the warmest spots on the planet right now.

Seeing how it’s almost summer down there, it’s fitting that an Australia Play was seen on December 13, 2017. Biggest play of the night, in fact. The appearance of the most commonly seen Pattern, an encore at that, was a big play, don’t get us wrong. It’s just that more happened in the lottery that saw the Australia Play.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas had the honor of hosting the Australia Play for the 204th time! Wednesday’s winning numbers were 12, 14, 19, 34, 39, and 47.

Australia Play in motion. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Now with there being 1507 Lotto Texas drawings, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played 13.5% of the time. An Australia Play was last seen November 29, 2017.

Similar Spread

This Australia Play saw a spread of 02:05:15:05:08, which was like the spread on May 8, 2010. That night, the spread was 02:08:15:05:05, and the winning numbers were 12, 14, 22, 37, 42, 47. What makes this a similar spread is that even though the numbers in the spreads are the same, their orders are different. Yes, even if three of the six numbers drawn are shared between the drawings.

Four-Number Combination(s)

The Australia Play continued to go big with two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 12, 19, 34, 47 (Debuted December 31, 2008)
  • 12, 14, 19, 34 (Debuted July 18, 2001)

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

By process of elimination, it was Powerball that saw the Pattern encore. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, King of the Powerball Patterns, saw its 83rd appearance with 2, 24, 28, 51, 58, and PB 7.

An encore is nothing to sneeze at. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Out of the 229 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 36.2% of them.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 23rd appearance, and was seen alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in this past Saturday’s drawing. This has now played in 27.7% of the 83 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 229 drawings into account, this General Order has played about 10% of the time.

Now with four appearances, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 17.4% of the time. This Specific Order has also played in 4.82% of the 83 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.75% of all 229 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order had played in the April 15, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The Pattern encore was the only big play for Powerball. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will Saturday’s drawing lead to either an Australia Play encore or a {2-1-1-1-1} three-peat?

Resting Up for December

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s now time to put up those Christmas decorations (it’s never too early!) and get your shop on. Lotto Texas and Powerball weren’t up for that. November 29th was one of their quieter nights. That is, if you were to just look at the numbers. One important lesson when analyzing or playing the lottery it’s to never assume.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

In our last Lotto Texas post, we stated that, “All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.” True to form, an Australia Play made its 203rd appearance! With winning numbers 6, 12, 30, 33, 45, and 51, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played in 13.5% of the 1503 Lotto Texas drawings.

Would you believe that an Australia Play was what kicked off November this year?

Four-Number Combination(s)

Believe it or not, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations. Apparently, Lotto Texas thought copying Mega Millions’s “Finish the month the way you started” move was enough excitement.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball didn’t see an Australia Play, but it did see an uncommon Pattern. The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 13th appearance with winning numbers 24, 26, 28, 59, 63, and PB 16.

*This* {3-2-1} Pattern is rare. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 225 drawings in Powerball, this Pattern has played 5.78% of the time. We last saw the {3-2-1} Pattern in the November 18th, 2017 drawing.

Making its third appearance was the [3-2-1] General Order. It has played in 23.1% of the 13 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 1.33% of all 225 drawings. Prior to Wednesday, this General Order played February 18th, 2017.

There was, in fact, a new Specific Order: 0 3 0 0 2 1. With that said, this Specific Order has now played in 33.3% of the three drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order has appeared. The 0 3 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has also played in 7.69% of the 13 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.44% of all 225 drawings.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either Pattern start December with an encore?

November Boom

November started with a big bang! The Houston Astros won their first-ever World Series and Lotto Texas made a stopover Down Under. Powerball got in on the action with a Pattern encore. So, put on your Astros gear and grab a St. Arnold beer. Here was the rundown for Wednesday, November 1, 2017.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the [2-2-2] made their 202nd appearance. The winning numbers were 6, 18, 29, 35, 44, and 47.

With 1495 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the Australia Play has played 13.5% of the time. This phenomenon last occurred in the October 18, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

And yet, with all the excitement of Wednesday night, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern came back for seconds, bringing the number of appearances up to 65. This time around, the winning numbers were 3, 6, 19, 26, 44, and PB 1.

Now with six appearances, the 2 2 0 1 0 1 General Order has played in 25% of the 24 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 9.23% of the 65 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.76% of all 217 drawings. This Specific Order was last seen earlier this year. More specifically, in the February 4, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations to speak of.

The ‘Stros winning the World Series more than made up for the lack of repeating Combinations in Lotto Texas and Powerball. What awaits Lotto Texas and Powerball Saturday night?

Oi! We’ve Got Ourselves a Couple of Encores

For our U.S. readers, nothing says, “I survived the week so far!” than a chocolate cupcake or two, right? October 18, 2017 was yet another food centered holiday: National Chocolate Cupcake Day. Lotto Texas and Powerball didn’t bring any cupcakes, but both of their Patterns made an encore appearance. Talk about a boomerang effect! What’s more, is that there was a repeating Three or Four-Number Combination here and there.

This General Order has also played in 8.92% of all 213 drawings. The [1-2-2-1] General Order was not seen alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern Wednesday night. Instead, this General Order was last seen in the September 20, 2017 drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 0 0 1 2 2 1 Specific Order has played in 10.5% of the 19 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared. Additionally, this Specific Order has played in 3.17% of the 63 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Of course, we can’t forget to mention that this has played in 0.94% of all 213 drawings. The 0 0 1 2 2 1 Specific Order accompanied the [1-2-2-1] General Order in the September 20th drawing. In fact, that was when the Specific Order made its debut.

A Mob of Combinations

Did you know that when the 14th falls on a Saturday, the chances of wild and crazy things happening goes up?

Okay, not really. But, there was plenty of wild and crazy action in Lotto Texas and Powerball. Whether you’re hoppin’ mad for Australia Plays or Specific Order debuts, October 14, 2017  had them. If you don’t fancy those sorts of things, there was a repeating Five-Number Combination. There was also a repeating Three-Number Combination, or two.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 15, 17, 23, 24, 44, and 53, there have been 200 appearances of both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order.

Five-Number Combination(s)

For the first time since July 23, 2016, a repeating Five-Number Combination showed its face in Lotto Texas.

Four-Number Combination(s)

When there’s a repeating Five-Number Combination, there’s going to be five repeating Four-Number Combinations bundled inside. The Combinations were

  • 23, 24, 44, 53
  • 15, 24, 44, 53
  • 15, 23, 44, 53
  • 15, 23, 24, 53
  • 15, 23, 24, 44

The bottom four made their debut alongside the Five-Number Combination in the May 21st drawing we mentioned earlier. The top Combination appeared in that same drawing, naturally, but it’s a special one. Four-Number Combination 23, 24, 44, 53 made its debut about a year-and-a-half prior to the other four Combinations. It debuted in the November 24, 2012 drawing, just two days after (US)Thanksgiving.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Although there wasn’t an Australia Play here, Powerball saw a respectable amount of number action. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 62nd appearance with winning numbers 32, 37, 56, 66, 69, and PB 11.

These numbers were a bit quieter. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 29.2% of the 212 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the September 20, 2017 drawing.

Now with 21 appearances, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played in 33.9% of the 62 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has now played in 9.91% of all 212 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the [2-1-2-1] General Order played in the September 13, 2017 drawing.

Will Wednesday night be hopping with repeating Combinations, or will things mellow out?

Hopping Along with a Callback

Autumn, of course, is when temperatures start to cool down. The term “Cool down” didn’t apply to either Lotto Texas or Powerball. To commemorate the first full week of autumn, there was an Australia Play and a callback to a drawing from right before Harvey. Question is, which pattern saw what play the night of September 27th?

Lotto Texas

The {2-2-2} Pattern bounded its way to its 199th appearance. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 2, 6, 26, 32, 42, and 49.

An Australia Play to start autumn. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Now, given that was an Australia Play, the 2 2 2 Specific Order also made its 199th appearance. Both have now played in 13.4% of the 1485 Lotto Texas drawing, and previously played on July 15, 2017.

Powerball

Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern is rare indeed. Out of 207 drawings, this Pattern made its 10th appearance Wednesday. The winning numbers for the big 1-0 were 8, 10, 21, 23, 25, and PB 22.

A not-so-common Pattern shined Wednesday night. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 4.83% of the 207 drawings.

With eight appearances, the [2-3-1] General Order has played in 80% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.86% of all 207 drawings.

Now with two appearances, the 2 3 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 25% of the 8 drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared, and in 20% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in roughly one percent of all 207 drawings.

Powerball’s Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order were all seen together in the August 23, 2017 drawing!

Technically speaking, an Australia Play is a callback. On this blog, the term will be used to describe an occurrence of a Pattern, General Order (when applicable), and Specific Order that played together in a previous drawing, and are not part of an Australia Play.

Our Powerball coverage concludes with the lone Three-Number Combination of the evening: 8, 10, and PB 22.

This Combination made its debut in the December 3, 2016 drawing.

Will Saturday’s drawing see more callbacks? Will both Lotto Texas and Powerball see the {3-2-1} Pattern?

September 19, 2017 was the penultimate Mega Millions drawing of the summer. How interesting that Tuesday night’s drawing featured an Australia Play! Was it because it hadn’t played in six months, or was it because in Australia, spring is right around the corner?

With winning numbers 9, 28, 31, 50, 61, and MB 10, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 14th appearance.

The thing about an Australia Play in Mega Millions is that both the [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order also made their 14th appearance. Given that there have been 409 Mega Millions drawings to date, the Australia Play has played 3.42% of the time. We last saw an Australia Play in the March 7, 2017 drawing.
