A Fireball to Welcome Winter

(Note: Replace “Winter” with “Summer” if you’re reading from the Southern Hemisphere)

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re in the home stretch. It’s the last week before Christmas and things started warming up in Mega Millions. In fact, the December 20th, 2016 drawing was fiery compared to Friday’s drawing. So grab your wassail and pull up a chair as we go into the belly of the Mega Millions beast.

Tuesday’s drawing presented the {3-1-1-1} Pattern to us. Now with 53 appearances, this Pattern isn’t commonly seen. The 53rd appearance was made possible by winning numbers 1, 12, 14, 48, 65, and MB 2.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 16.0% of the 331 Mega Millions drawings. We last saw this Pattern in the November 29th, 2016 drawing.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its 18th appearance, its first since the October 4th, 2016 drawing. As of Tuesday, this General Order has played in approximately 34% of the 53 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, and in 5.44% of all drawings.

We now come to the 3 0 0 1 1 1 Specific Order, making its third appearance. This Specific Order has played in 16.667% of the 18 drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, 5.66% of the 53 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, and in 0.91% of all drawings. The 3 0 0 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the February 20th, 2015 drawing.

Last, but not least, we saw a repeating Three-Number Combination. The lucky numbers were 14, 48, and MB 2.

This Three-Number Combination made its debut in the April 26th, 2016 drawing.

With one more Mega Millions drawing left before Christmas, what will Mega Millions gift us with?

Mid-Week Fireballs

We’re only a week into December and so far, it’s shaping up to be quite a month! December 7, 2016 gave us a Pattern in Lotto Texas that we haven’t seen in a while, and Powerball had an interesting play as well.

Lotto Texas

Although we didn’t see a repeating Four-Number Combination this time around, we saw an Australia Play. That is, the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order  made their 191st appearance. The winning numbers were 4, 5, 29, 34, 40, and 53.

As of Wednesday, the {2-2-2} Pattern has played in 13.6% of the 1401 Lotto Texas drawings. As is the nature of the Australia Play, this statistic also applies to the 2 2 2 Specific Order. We last saw both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order in the October 29, 2016 drawing.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern did not make an encore appearance. Instead, we saw the {3-1-1-1} Pattern play. The 23rd appearance of this Pattern was made possible by winning numbers 41, 48, 49, 53 64, and PB 20.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 18.7% of the 123 Powerball drawings to date. Prior to Wednesday, this Pattern previously played in the November 26, 2016 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order made its 9th appearance, its first since the November 12th, 2016 drawing. This General Order has now played in 39.1% of the 23 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.32% of all Powerball drawings.

Next, the 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order made its second appearance Wednesday night. This Specific Order has now played in 22.2% of the 9 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared, 8.70% of the 23 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and 1.63% of all 123 drawings. The 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order made its debut in the November 21, 2015 drawing.

Finally, Powerball saw two Three-Number Combinations repeat. These were

  • 49, 64, and PB 20, which first played August 27, 2016, and
  • 48, 49, and PB 20, which first played October 15, 2016

Looking ahead to Saturday’s drawing, will Patterns not commonly seen in either Lotto Texas or Powerball continue to have their play? Will we see another Australia Play?

Remember, Remember, the Eleventh of November

November was quite a month for Mega Millions, full of excitement and upsets. On the surface, the November 29th drawing looked…normal. No Australia Play, no encore or three-peat Pattern, and certainly no repeating Three-Number Combinations! Of course, even a “normal” drawing isn’t always what it seems to be in the lottery! What’s so special about the eleventh that we need to remember it, anyways?

For starters, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern was last seen on November 11th, 2016. Tuesday’s drawing was the 52nd appearance of this Pattern, made possible by winning numbers 22, 33, 49, 51, 59, and MB 8.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 16% of the 325 Mega Millions drawings to date.

Next, we come to the [1-1-3-1] General Order, making its 20th appearance. This General Order has played in 38.5% of the 52 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 6.15% of all drawings. The [1-1-3-1] General Order was also previously seen in the November 11th drawing.

We wrap up our November Mega Millions coverage with the fifth appearance of the 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 25% of the 20 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played. We’ve also seen it play in 9.62% of the 52 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.54% of all Mega Millions drawings. The 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order also played in the November 11th drawing!

December is on its merry way. Will Mega Millions mellow out or will it end the year with a bang?

Small Gifts

It’s that time of year again. The Christmas shopping season is upon us and Lotto Texas and Powerball each left a gift in the November 26, 2016 drawing. Powerball was generous enough to give one lucky person two gifts.

Lotto Texas

Lotto Texas’s gift was the three-peat of the {3-2-1} Pattern on Saturday. The 729th appearance of this Pattern was made possible by numbers 2, 3, 22, 25, 32, and 42.

With 729 appearances, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played in 52.1% of the 1398 Lotto Texas drawings to date. In addition to the November 23rd drawing, this Pattern also played on November 19, 2016.

The 2 3 1 Specific Order made its 121st appearance, and has now played in 16.6% of the 729 drawings that the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 8.66% of all Lotto Texas drawings. Prior to Saturday, the 2 3 1 Specific Order also previously played in the November 23rd drawing.

Powerball

Powerball saw the 22nd appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, thanks to winning numbers 17, 19, 21, 37, 44, and PB 16.

As of Saturday, this Pattern has played in 18.3% of all 120 Powerball drawings. We last saw the {3-1-1-1} Pattern last weekend, in the November 19th drawing.

Moving on, we saw the [3-1-1-1] General Order play for the sixth time, and it also previously played in the November 19th drawing. The [3-1-1-1] General Order has now played in 27.3% of the 22 drawings that the {3-1-1-1} has played, and 5% of all Powerball drawings.

The 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order made its second appearance. As of Saturday, this Specific Order has played in 33.3% of the six drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order played, 9.09% of the 22 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, and 1.67% of all Powerball drawings. The 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order made its debut about a month ago, in the October 29, 2016 drawing.

Finally, we come to Powerball’s gift: the repeat of a Three-Number Combination. The Combination was 37, 44, and PB 16, which made its debut in the October 12, 2016 drawing.

The last Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings of the month will take place this coming Wednesday (November 30th). Will November end with a bang, or will things simmer down?

A Slight Warm Up

The holiday season is fast approaching. Thanksgiving is only a few days away and the Christmas shopping will soon follow, if it hasn’t crept up already. What better way to kick off the holidays than a slight warm-up in the lottery world? Although the November 19, 2016 Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings didn’t see any major plays, there was a surprise or two!

Lotto Texas

The 727th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern was made possible by winning numbers 15, 19, 21, 34, 40, and 49.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers from lotterytrend.com.

As of Saturday, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played in 52.1% of the 1396 Lotto Texas drawings. When it comes to Patterns, the {3-2-1} is second-to-none. We last saw this Pattern a week ago, in the November 12th drawing.

The {3-2-1} Pattern gave way to the 1 3 2 Specific Order, making its 107th appearance. This Specific Order has now appeared in 14.7% of the 727 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has played and 7.66% of all Lotto Texas drawings. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, the 1 3 2 Specific Order previously played in the October 26, 2016 drawing.

As quiet as November has been, the surprise of the evening was the appearance of two Four-Number Combinations. These were

  • 15, 21, 40, and 49, which first played August 30, 2014 and
  • 19, 21, 34, and 40, which first played October 10, 2007.

Powerball

Powerball saw a three-peat appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers this time around were 16, 24, 28, 43, 61, and PB 21.

Now with 21 appearances, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 17.8% of the 118 Powerball drawings. Recall that the {3-1-1-1} Pattern not only appeared previously in the November 16th drawing, but the November 12th drawing as well.

We saw the [3-1-1-1] General Order make its fifth appearance, its first since the October 29th, 2016 drawing. This General Order has now played in 23.8% of the 21 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, and in 4.24% of all Powerball drawings.

Finally, we come to the 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order, making its second appearance. As of Saturday, the 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 40% of the five drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, 9.52% of the 21 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, and 1.69% of all Powerball drawings. The 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its debut in the June 4, 2016 drawing.

Lotto Texas and Powerball will have their drawings again the day before Thanksgiving. Will we be in for a shocker, or will we be handed a giant turkey?

Nice and Toasty

With a big temperature cool-down making its way through Lottery Trend Country, Lotto Texas and Powerball played it safe on November 16, 2016. How safe? They played so safe that they wrapped themselves up in the blanket of familiar plays. By “familiar” we mean “Patterns that we saw just last week.”

Lotto Texas

We saw the 118th appearance of the {3-3} Pattern thanks to winning numbers 4, 5, 7, 37, 43, and 51.

As of Wednesday, the {3-3} Pattern has played in 8.46% of the 1395 Lotto Texas drawings. We saw this Pattern last week in the November 9, 2016 drawing.

The 3 0 3 Specific Order made its 41st appearance. Like the {3-3} Pattern, it too was last seen on November 9th. This Specific Order has played in 34.7% of the 118 drawings where the {3-3} Pattern appeared, and has played in 2.94% of all drawings.

Powerball

Powerball saw an encore appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers were 28, 41, 61, 63, 65, and PB7.

Now with 20 appearances, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 17.1% of the 117 Powerball drawings.

This gave way to the [1-1-3-1] General Order making its eighth appearance, its first since the October 15, 2016 drawing. The [1-1-3-1] General Order has now appeared in 40% of the 20 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and approximately 6.84% of all 117 drawings.

We wrap up our coverage with the 0 1 1 0 3 1 Specific Order. Making its second appearance, this Specific Order has now appeared in 25% of the eight drawings the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played. When looking at the 20 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, this becomes 10%. This becomes 1.71% when looking at all 117 drawings. The 0 1 1 0 3 1 Specific Order made its debut in the February 24, 2016 drawing.

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to stay in their cool-down phase or will they warm up as the holiday season fast approaches?

November Cool Down

Lotto Texas and Powerball appear to have taken a cue from Mega Millions. There were no big plays on November 12, 2016, nor did the Powerball Pattern Tango take place.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 726th appearance, firmly holding onto the title of Most Commonly Played Pattern. This was thanks to winning numbers 1, 8, 16, 23, 29, and 40.

Winning Texas Lotto numbers. From lotterytrend.com.
Winning Texas Lotto numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

As of this past Saturday’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played in 52.1% of the 1394 drawings. We previously saw this Pattern just last weekend in the November 5, 2016 drawing. Could popping up every other drawing be a new thing for the {3-2-1} Pattern?

Moving on to the Specific Order now, we saw 3 2 1 make its 129th appearance, its first since the October 1st, 2016 drawing. The 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.8% of the 726 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This shrinks to 9.25% when taking all 1394 Lotto Texas drawings into account.

Powerball

Powerball saw the 19th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, brought to us by 8, 17, 20, 27, 52, and PB 24.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 16.4% of the 116 Powerball drawings. This Pattern was previously seen in the October 29, 2016 drawing.

This gave way to the [1-3-1-1] General Order making its eighth appearance, its first since the October 12, 2016 drawing. The [1-3-1-1] General Order has now appeared in 42.1% of the 19 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and approximately 6.9% of all 117 drawings.

The biggest spark of the evening was the debut of the 1 3 0 1 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now appeared in 12.5% of the eight drawings the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played. When taking the 19 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern played, this becomes 5.26%. This shrinks drastically to 0.86% when looking at all 116 drawings.

Looking to the week ahead, is the cool down a new trend or is this the calm before the storm?

Calmer Waters

The November 11, 2016 Mega Millions drawing was a turning point. The lottery world provided a much-needed sanctuary from all the madness in the “real world” as of late. In contrast to what we saw in Tuesday’s drawing, Friday’s Mega Millions kicked off the weekend in a low-key manner.

We start with the 51st appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, brought forth by winning numbers 16, 40, 47, 53, 59, and MB 11.

Winning Mega Millions numbers from lotterytrend-megamillions.com.
Winning Mega Millions numbers from lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 15.9% of the 320 drawings to date. We last saw this Pattern at the beginning of last month: October 4th, to be precise.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order made its 19th appearance, its first since the June 3, 2016 drawing. This General Order has appeared in 37.3% of the 51 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern was the winning Pattern. When we take all 320 drawings into account, the statistic becomes 5.94%.

Last, but certainly not least, the 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order made its 4th appearance. The 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order has played in 21.5% of the 19 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order was seen. This becomes 7.84% of the time when looking at the 51 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, and 1.25% of the time when looking at all 320 drawings. To see when the 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order previously played, we need to go back to October 30, 2015.

As Thanksgiving and Christmas plans are beginning to be put into action, what gifts will Mega Millions bestow in the week ahead?

End-of-Month Blowout

Like the month of October itself, Lotto Texas and Powerball didn’t cool down much Saturday night. The October 29th drawings provided some interesting developments to mark the end of the month, one such development being how the repeating Four-Number Combinations in Lotto Texas played out. For those of you who were awaiting the next installment of the Powerball Pattern Tango, that has been postponed for the time being.

Lotto Texas

We were treated to the {2-2-2} Pattern, provided to us by winning numbers 11, 18, 20, 28, 41, and 42.

Winning Texas Lotto numbers. From lotterytrend.com.
Winning Texas Lotto numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

With 190 appearances to date, the {2-2-2} Pattern is currently the second-most commonly played Pattern in Lotto Texas. The {2-2-2} Pattern is a special one; not only is it a Pattern, its corresponding Specific Order is also 2 2 2.  We here at Lottery Binge like to call this scenario an Australia Play. Since we got ourselves here an Australia Play, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played in 6.47% of the 1390 Lotto Texas drawings. The last time we saw an Australia Play was a little over a couple of months ago in the August 17, 2016 drawing.

We saw two Four-Number Combinations repeat. The first one was 20, 28, 41, and 42, which made its debut back in the August 22nd, 2009 drawing.

Snippet of Four-Number Combinations from lotterytrend.com. The repeating Combinations are highlighted in red boxes.

The second Combination, 11, 20, 28, and 42 has an interesting history behind it. This combination has played not once, but twice before! The Four-Number Combination 11, 20, 28, and 42 played for the first time on June 3, 2006, and again on March 27, 2010.

Powerball

In lieu of the Powerball Pattern Tango, we saw the 18th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers were 19, 20, 21, 42, 48, and PB 23.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Like its Lotto Texas friend {2-2-2}, the {3-1-1-1} is currently the second-most commonly seen Powerball Pattern. Unlike its friend, {3-1-1-1} is not capable of being an Australia Play. Out of the 112 Powerball drawings, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played 16.1% of the time. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern previously played two weeks ago in the October 15, 2016 drawing.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its fourth appearance, its first since the June 4, 2016 drawing. Out of the 18 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, the [3-1-1-1] General Order has played 22.2% of the time. This becomes 3.57% when we look at all 112 drawings.

Finally, we come to the debut of the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order. So far, it has appeared in 25% of the four drawings where [3-1-1-1] was the General Order of the evening. When we look at the 18 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern played, the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 5.56% of the time. This becomes 0.89% when we look at all 112 drawings.

As we shift gears to November, will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue their hot streak, or will there be a cool down?

Repeats! Repeats Everywhere

True to form, the October 15, 2016 Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings were full of energy. What better way to mark the halfway point of the month than the encore of Patterns that played on Wednesday? To add even more whipped cream to this sundae, there were Combinations that played for the first time in years, and a Combination that first played not too long ago.

Lotto Texas

The {4-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance, thanks to winning numbers 2, 7, 12, 15, 24, and 47.

Winning Texas Lotto numbers. From lotterytrend.com.
Winning Texas Lotto numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

With 155 appearances, and 1386 Lotto Texas drawings thus far, the {4-1-1} Pattern has played 11.2% of the time.

The 4 1 1 Specific Order made its 49th appearance, and unlike the {4-1-1} Pattern did not appear in the October 12th drawing. Instead, we have to go back in the early throes of summer to find when this Specific Order previously played: June 1, 2016. With that said, the 4 1 1 Specific Order has now played in 31.6% of the 155 drawings that have {4-1-1} as the winning Pattern. Taking all 1386 drawings into account, we’re looking at 3.54%.

Saturday’s drawing gave us two Four-Number Combinations that haven’t played in quite some time. One of them played almost ten years ago. These Combinations were:

  • 2, 7, 15, and 24, which first played on October 28, 2006, and
  • 2, 12, 15, and 24, which first played on August 30, 2008

Powerball

Just like Lotto Texas, the Powerball Pattern also made an encore appearance. What’s more is that this particular encore is a three-peat. The {3-1-1-1} Pattern’s three-peat was provided by winning numbers 23, 49, 57, 64, 67, and PB 20.

Making its 17th appearance, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 15.7% of the 108 Powerball drawings.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order, although not making an encore, did make a previous appearance not too long ago in the October 8th drawing. Having said that, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in 41.2% of the 7 drawings that {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When we look at all 108 drawings, this becomes 6.48%.

The 0 1 0 1 3 1 Specific Order played for the second time ever and we have to go back a couple of months to August 10th to see when it first played. Out of the 7 drawings with [1-1-3-1] as the General Order, the 0 1 0 1 3 1 Specific Order has played 28.6% of the time. When we look at the 17 drawings that have {3-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, this becomes 11.8%, and 1.85% when looking at all 108 drawings.

The Three-Number Combination of 23, 64, and 67 made its second appearance, and like the 0 1 0 1 3 1 Specific Order, it too played for the first time in the August 10th drawing.

As the days grow shorter and the World Series kicks it into high gear, will the {4-1-1} go for a three-peat in Lotto Texas? Will Powerball see a four-peat in {3-1-1-1}?
