A Pattern’s Icy Grip

In the nearly two years Lottery Binge has been online, one of our favorite things to cover is the Pattern streak. These occur when a Pattern has played at least three consecutive times. Three or four consecutive appearances seems to be the norm, but there have been cases of five or even six appearances.

Although the biggest ones we’ve covered occurred during the summers of 2016 and 2017, February 21st reminded us that these streaks can happen at any time.

Will Powerball and Lotto Texas keep up the momentum Saturday, or will things start to mellow out?

Joined by January

It seems that January, although officially over, is far from done. Our last post on Lotto Texas and Powerball covered how both saw a playback. Fun fact: the original dates for both were sometime in January. And, January continued its grip on the lotteries Wednesday night. We didn’t see any playbacks, but Lotto Texas and Powerball had something in common.

Will there be Pattern encores this Saturday night?

An Encore for Groundhog Day

In our last Mega Millions post, we asked if a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore would start off February. Well, Mega Millions delivered Friday night. February 2nd also took on another meaning here in the States: Groundhog Day. Our focus of course is on that Pattern encore, and it wasn’t the only big thing that happened.

Super Blue Lotteries

January 31st was more than just the last day of the month. A Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse could be seen in North America, Australia, and parts of East Asia. If you’re an eclipse enthusiast who missed it, YouTube has videos aplenty. Meanwhile, Lottery Trend headquarters saw a commonality between Lotto Texas and Powerball.

Will either the {3-2-1} Pattern or the {3-1-1-1} Pattern (or both) make an encore?

{3-1-1-1} Pattern + (Repeating) Combinations = A Decent Finish

Last month, Mega Millions ended the way it started. That is, the Pattern that kicked off December was also the last Pattern. This was appropriate, seeing as the year was ending. Nothing better than sending the year off with a bang, right? That sort of thing should carry on right into the new year, yeah?

To fit the “drab” mood oft associated with January after New Year’s in our part of the world, Mega Millions didn’t end the month with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which played January 2nd. That would’ve been something: A Pattern encore and ending January the way it started! Instead, the January 30, 2018 drawing provided something a bit more “Combination-y”.

Will there be more repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations Saturday night?

Big Things in Small Packages

The saying “Big things come in small packages” is one way to describe the night of January 6th. Lotto Texas may have repeating Four-Number Combinations from at least fifteen years ago, but Powerball has insanely high jackpots! Speaking of, Powerball stole the show, with a player in New Hampshire made $559 million richer. Lotto Texas, however, shall not be ignored. With Powerball getting all the media attention, one mustn’t forget that two lotteries play on Saturday nights.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball thought an insanely high jackpot was enough. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either Pattern repeat in Wednesday’s drawing? Will there be more debuting Specific Orders?

A Second Wind

Unlike what we saw with Mega Millions, January 3, 2018 was an active night. Just as well, what with most people having gone back to work. How did Lotto Texas and Powerball ring in the new year? Let’s find out.

How will Lotto Texas and Powerball end the first week of 2018?

The Great Lottery Gifting

First, we’d like to wish our readers a Merry Christmas! December 23rd was a busy night. Whether it was wrapping up last-minute shopping, or partaking in Festivus activities in the “real world”, Lotto Texas and Powerball had something for everyone. Who could say “No” to Pattern encores, rare Patterns, and repeating Combinations, of both the Four-Number and Three-Number kind?

Four-Number Combination(s)

What makes looking at the repeating Four-Number Combinations fun is finding the ones that made their debuts in the last decade. Here were two of them:

  • 22, 29, 34, 36 (Debuted August 15, 2001)
  • 8, 22, 23, 29 (Debuted March 12, 2008)

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Like the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in “sister” lottery Mega Millions, Powerball’s {3-1-1-1} Pattern got a bit of that “Encore Fever”. This time, the winning numbers were 1, 3, 13, 15, 44, and PB 25, bringing the number of appearances to 45.

Pattern encores are a thing this week. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 232 Powerball drawings to date, this Pattern has played 19.4% of the time.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its 11th appearance Saturday night. With that said, it has now played in 24.4% of the 45 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 232 drawings into account, this General Order has played 4.74% of the time. We last saw the [3-1-1-1] General Order in the October 11, 2017 drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 18.2% of the eleven drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in 4.44% of the 45 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.86% of all 232 drawings. The 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the January 11, 2017 drawing.

Here’s something that will add some more spice to your wassail: Pay close attention to the numbers that played that evening. The winning numbers in that drawing were very close to the winning numbers that played Saturday. They were 1, 3, 13, 16, 43, and PB 24. It’s part of the very reason why Lottery Trend exists!

Three-Number Combination(s)

To add to the bounty of gifts, there was a Three-Number Combination that played three times! That Combination was 1, 3, 13. It made its debut in the same January 11th drawing we just talked about, and it was last seen in the October 11, 2017 drawing.

Now we come to the real home stretch. Next week is the last week of 2017. Can Lotto Texas and Powerball top Saturday night’s results?

Mega Millions Takes a Holiday

A front has blown through Houston, and for those who like cold weather (not colds!) at Christmas time, it feels a bit more like Christmas is “supposed” to feel. Not cold enough to snow, but certainly sweater weather. Mega Millions took a cue from Mother Nature and cooled down, too. Just like last year. But, unlike what we saw the week before Christmas 2016, there was a Pattern encore in the December 22, 2017 drawing.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern wasn’t content on just popping up in this past Tuesday’s drawing. It showed up again Friday night. With winning numbers 1, 20, 30, 33, 42, and MB 16, the number of appearances of this Pattern is now 63.

Three Number Combination(s)

As is the nature of a cooldown, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Hard to believe, but next week will be the last full week of 2017. Will Mega Millions end the year with a bang?
