California Dreaming with $530 Million

It finally came tumbling down.

After nearly three months of monitoring and analysis, the monster in Mega Millions was stopped, thanks to a player in California. This wasn’t the work of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore. Instead, another Pattern, and an entourage of repeating Three-Number Combinations, brought the jackpot back down to $40 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 17, 19, 27, 40, 68, and MB 2, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 89th appearance.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order, now with 31 appearances, has played in 34.8% of the 89 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. With the jackpot now won, Mega Millions will be itching to create another monster. However, it’ll be a while yet before we stare down another $200 million+ prize! June is still young and there are other ways to keep the momentum going. We’ll need to watch and see if June comes with its own brand of madness or if Mega Millions decides to take a more “respectable” approach.

The Aussie Bounce and Playback Pounce

May 29th played host to Lotto Texas and Powerball’s last drawings for the month. As thrilling as it would have been to see the Powerball jackpot beast be toppled, it wasn’t meant to be. One could argue that what happened Wednesday night was just as exciting, if not more. Sure, the prizes in Lotto Texas and Powerball respectively climbed to $6.75 million and $350 million, but how often do you see playbacks join forces to thwart the players?

With 1659 Lotto Texas drawings, the Australia Play has shown up in 13.9% of them and was last seen May 8, 2019. Given how joined at the hip the Pattern and Specific Order were (it is the nature of the Australia Play in Lotto Texas after all), you could say that this was the ultimate playback!

The {3-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-3-1-1] General Order, and 1 0 3 0 1 1 Specific Order were all seen together in the April 24, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The Powerball playback didn’t come alone. There were three repeating Three-Number Combinations!

The double playback action has Lotto Texas and Powerball fired up for June. On one hand, we all want to win, especially that crazy-high jackpot. On the other hand, we’re all asking in the back of our minds “How high can Powerball go?”

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to run on their momentum or will at least one of them start June with their sails deflated?

Mega Millions Feeds the Beast

What a difference a night makes! This past Friday saw the return of Mega Millions’ most common Pattern. One would think that as we get closer to the end of the month (and the school year) a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern would be the perfect send-off. No better way to start off summer, right?

A {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak lasting through the end of May would have made a fine transition. Except, Mega Millions had other plans, plans involving a beastly jackpot. The aftermath of the May 21, 2019 drawing was a beast that now looms over the players at an impressive $393 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The [1-3-1-1] General Order, now with 31 appearances, has played in 35.2% of the 88 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 6.68% of all 464 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the [1-3-1-1] General Order played December 4, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 1 0 0 3 1 1 Specific Order has played in 9.68% of the 31 drawings where the General Order was [1-3-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.41% of the 88 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Number Pastures

April 24, 2019 marked the end of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak in Powerball. It also marked the end of a short break from the madness brought about by said streak and an exact spread in Lotto Texas. Although not nearly as wild as what happened last week, Wednesday night was far from a snoozer. For starters, the night had its fill of repeating Combinations of both the Three-Number and Four-Number kind.

If you love crazy-high jackpots (we know you do!), Powerball is on its way to a $166 million grand prize Saturday night. Lotto Texas kept its cool, easing upwards to $5.75 million.

This Specific Order has also played in 2.63% of the 76 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.54% of all 371 drawings. Three-Number Combination(s)

The {3-2-1} Pattern is fond of encores, and the {3-1-1-1} Pattern had dipped its toes in the encore pool from time to time. Encores or no, Lotto Texas and Powerball look to finish the month on a strong note. Will someone walk away with a grand prize Saturday night, or will May start to look like “crazy-large jackpot” territory?

For April, a Pattern Encore

The momentum was strong with Lotto Texas and Powerball April 3rd. There weren’t any jackpots in “crazy-rich” territory (think $100 million+) but they were robust! Lotto Texas played hard to get; with no grand prize winner, it’ll be going into Saturday with $14.5 million. Powerball settled down with a $68 million prize, for it too couldn’t claim a jackpot winner.

Now for the big question: Who saw the encore?

Nothin’ But (Mega Millions) Facts

We all know April 1st is April Fool’s Day, but did you know that April 2nd is International Fact-Checking Day? To celebrate (belatedly), we’re analyzing the April 2nd, 2019 Mega Millions drawing. One noteworthy event was the prize climbing over the $100 million threshold once again! With no one to claim the jackpot, $104 million will be up for grabs Friday.

Prior to Tuesday night, the 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order played January 15th, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Tuesday. That’s no joke.

April has just started, so there’s still plenty of time for Pattern streaks, playbacks, and the possibility of flirting with a “crazy-rich” jackpot. Will the prize continue to rise after Friday’s drawing?

A {3-1-1-1} Pattern Bump

Mega Millions drawings are like snowflakes. There may be similarities, but none are ever alike. Just last week, we watched someone claim $50 million. And, in the March 22, 2019 drawing, we passed that threshold. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot bumped up to $57 million.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order, with its 26th appearance, has now played in 30.2% of the 86 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 5.82% of all 447 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the [1-1-3-1] General Order played January 15, 2019.

Now with three appearances, the 1 0 1 0 3 1 Specific Order has played in 11.5% of the 26 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-3-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.49% of the 86 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 447 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.67% of the time. We last saw the 1 0 1 0 3 1 Specific Order March 13, 2018.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern isn’t typically one to make an encore. Most likely though is that that jackpot is going to inch up again after Tuesday’s drawing. One thing for certain is that anything is possible.

Jackpot Madness: Spring Fever Edition

The calendar says “Winter”, but Lotto Texas and Powerball are ready for spring! March 16, 2019 saw a warm-up in the Lottery World, although “warm-up” may be a bit of an understatement. With no grand prize winners, Powerball’s jackpot officially went past the half-billion-dollar mark. More specifically, we’re looking at least $550 million going into Wednesday night! Lotto Texas had a touch of the “Jackpot Fever”, with a prize now at $11 million. Although not nearly as monstrous as Powerball, that’s plenty robust.

Two repeating Three-Number Combinations gave Powerball an extra boost:

This Wednesday marks the official start of spring. Powerball’s prize is currently $550 million, but there’s a good chance it’ll climb again before the actual playdate. This is something to keep an eye on. On a lighter note, will either the {3-2-1} or {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore?

The Onward March of Lotto Texas & Powerball

With a saying like, “In like a lion and out like a lamb”, you’d expect either Lotto Texas or Powerball to start their March runs guns blazing. Nothing like a Pattern streak or a playback to start the month off, right?

The lotteries kicked off the month with a powerful start, but not of the “In your face” variety. March 2nd saw a Pattern encore for Lotto Texas and Powerball’s jackpot is a beast, now towering at $381 million. Meanwhile, Lotto Texas kept a cool head; its grand prize is now $8.5 million.

This Combination made its debut on November 28, 2018.

For those of you out there who wanted a more robust start, keep in mind that March has just begun. Powerball’s prize is a force to be reckoned with, and it will be caught one day. Question is, will it be next week or closer to the end of the month? And what about Lotto Texas’s {4-1-1} Pattern: Is a Pattern streak in the cards?

Combination Parade

And so, with the February 26th, 2019 drawing, Mega Millions bid “Farewell” to February. What better way to end the month than a Pattern encore, right? Start off March with a Pattern streak, too.

Or perhaps a playback? We haven’t seen an Australia Play in a while, either.

Alright, I’ll level with ya. None of those things happened Tuesday night. Instead, Mega Millions had the bold idea of playing a repeating Four-Number (yes, Four-Number) Combination! A blog post introduction cannot do justice describing the fallout of such an event. If that wasn’t intense enough, the grand prize officially crossed over into quarter-billion-dollar territory, now standing tall at $267 million.

The royal repeating Four-Number Combination! Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This loner made its debut in the June 17th, 2014 drawing!

Three-Number Combination(s)

Of course, when you have a repeating Four-Number Combination, there are four repeating Three-Number Combinations just waiting to burst out!

  • 14, 24, 60
  • 10, 24, 60
  • 10, 14, 60
  • 10, 14, 24

As to be expected, all of the above made their debut June 17th, 2014.

Would you believe that these weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations? In fact, there were two more:

  • 10, 12, 60 (Debuted July 24th, 2015)
  • 12, 14, 24 (Debuted November 17th, 2015)

No doubt about it, a repeating Four-Number Combination was a bold move for Mega Millions and it paid off spectacularly! This lottery has the honor of welcoming March, and it will certainly be roaring in. Thing is, Tuesday night’s drawing is a tough act to follow. Will Mega Millions outdo itself Friday?
