Summertime Jackpot Hikes

Hiking is one way to explore the great outdoors! Just get your hiking gear, pack some sandwiches and water, drive until you see woods and…

Oh, wait. Wrong type of “hike”.

Today’s post is about a different kind of hike, the kind of hike you see when the cost of something, or in this case, a jackpot, rises. Lotto Texas has been on a roll; it jackpot is at the highest it’s been in a long time. Meanwhile, Powerball’s jackpot is getting closer to the $100 million mark.

There were no wild or crazy plays July 11, 2020. But those weren’t needed to send the Lotto Texas jackpot to $25.75 million and Powerball’s to $89 million.

The Holiday Weekend Pattern Carryover

Another Fourth of July weekend has come and gone. The spectre of “Back to School” is peeking from around the corner and in a haunting twist of events, kids, parents, and teachers alike are looking for an alternative means of appeasing that spirit. While the youngsters can blot out those thoughts with movies and Minecraft, it’s not that simple for adults. They’re the ones who buy the supplies and pay the tuition, after all. They must also assess whether it’s truly safe to send their younglings off to a brick-and-mortar building or try their hands at online school (again). However, there is one thing the adults can do: they can win big money, and they don’t need to travel to Las Vegas to do it!

Mega Millions could have made at least one person richer than they’ve ever dreamed. That money could have been used to hire a tutor or two or be enough to retire and teach the kids themselves. Much like the stifling Texas heat, Mega Millions taunted the players and went up some more. The jackpot climbed to $83 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The jackpot hike of July 7, 2020 was thanks to a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore. This Pattern made its 110th appearance with winning numbers 16, 20, 25, 30, 43 and MB 18.

Three-Number Combinations

As it continued to recover from the Fourth of July weekend, Mega Millions held off on the repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern be bold enough to make a three-peat appearance Friday night?

73 Million Firecrackers

Happy Fourth of July to our U.S. readers! Given the madness plaguing our country (no pun intended), stay safe out there.

No Fourth of July celebration is complete without pyrotechnics! Whether you’re watching a show someone else is putting on, or you’re setting them off on your street, there’s nothing like watching the sky light up with the wonders of fireworks. If no fireworks are available, then firecrackers are just as amazing; just remember not to hold them once lit! But why wait until the holiday when you can get a head start the day before?

Mega Millions thought July 3rd was just as good a night as any to set off firecrackers. This threw the players off guard, letting the lottery boost its jackpot once again. With no one able to pick all six wining numbers, the jackpot rose to $73 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 20, 40, 44, 45, 50 and MB 24, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 109th appearance.

Three-Number Combinations

In honor of Independence Day, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

While we humans will be preoccupied with movie marathons, barbecues, and fireworks, Mega Millions will be cooking up ways to keep us on our toes. Will Tuesday night see a return of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern?

Leaping, Bounding and Holding Strong

To our readers, especially our U.S. readers: The COVID-19 pandemic is NOT a hoax. States have halted reopening phases and countries are talking about banning (not quarantining, banning) U.S. travelers. If you want everything to go back to “normal”, then stop throwing tantrums, put on your big boy pants and wear a mask and practice social distancing. Stay home if you can. You can’t play the lottery if you’re dead.

Compared to humans, lotteries are uninhibited. They can go out and about without worrying about the things that ail us.

And on June 24, 2020, the lotteries held strong. Lotto Texas continued to go steady with the {3-2-1} Pattern and its jackpot graciously climbed to $23.25 million. Powerball grew by leaps and bounds, seeing a boost from $33 million to $42 million.

What’s a large jackpot boost without repeating Three-Number Combinations?

As Lotto Texas and Powerball get ready to say goodbye to June this Saturday, will the jackpots continue to go upward?

Mega Millions’ Jumbo June Jackpot

The first five months of 2020 have been wild, to put it mildly. As of June 3, 2020, 380,000 lives have been lost globally to the (ongoing) COVID-19 pandemic, and protests for justice are taking place worldwide.

Lottery Binge is a blog that’s dedicated to giving y’all analysis for Lotto Texas, Powerball, and Mega Millions. Normally, we stay out of politics, but this must be said. What happened to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbrey was murder. They are only three of the thousands of innocent black men, women, and children whose lives were taken by police brutality. For too long, black Americans have disproportionately felt the brunt of this injustice. It was on the backs of African slaves that the United States became the economic powerhouse that it is today. Their descendants have had to endure, and continue to endure, a system that sees them as second-class citizens at best.

There are 7.5 billion humans on this blue dot. We all bleed the same blood. There are things that transcend religion and race. We all want the best education for our kids, a roof over our heads, jobs that pay the bills and leave extra for saving, and food to eat. Above all, we all want justice, safety, and security.

To all our readers, especially our American readers, if you are planning to protest, stay safe and be aware of your surroundings.

To everyone else: Humanity is at the crossroads. We must decide if we want a peaceful, secure future for all, or a future ruled by strife, confusion, and fear, a future where lives are nasty, brutish, and short.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled blog post.

The similar spread we saw this past Friday night knocked the wind out of Mega Millions! So much, in fact, that there was no {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore for the June 2, 2020 drawing. However, in the spirit of blockbuster season (it is summer, after all), there’s a monster of a jackpot that saw another growth spurt. With no one picking the six winning numbers, the prize ballooned to $378 million.

Mega Millions’ Memorial Day Combination Blowout

Another Memorial Day weekend has come and gone. As people far and wide retreated back to their homes (having gotten a little taste of sunlight and fresh air), Mega Millions geared up for a blowout. While the odds of a Pattern streak are looking slim, this lottery more than made up for it with a volley of repeating Three-Number Combinations. May 26, 2020 was also favorable for all those who are crazy for crazy-large jackpots! With the jackpot unclaimed once again, the prize shot up to $336 million.

The Grand {3-2-1} Pattern Encore

So, the {3-2-1} Pattern made an encore in Lotto Texas. Big deal. Why yes, it was a big deal!

The {3-2-1} Pattern encore of May 20, 2020 solidified this Pattern as the King of Lotto Texas. Furthermore, this encore produced a repeating Five-Number Combination (and all that it implies) and fueled this lottery’s love of a growing jackpot. This normally unassuming lottery saw its grand prize rise to $17.25 million.

Powerball didn’t ruffle any feathers. However, it too saw its jackpot climb, reaching $104 million.

Lotto Texas and Powerball Get Their Climb On

No, neither lottery saw a Pattern encore. After what happened this past Saturday, it may be a while yet before we see streaks. Regardless, the results of May 13, 2020 showed that one doesn’t need Pattern streaks to see an increase in the grand prize! With no one able to pick the six winning numbers in either Lotto Texas or Powerball, their respective jackpots rose to $16 million and $86 million.

“May”-king Way for Another Pattern

There was a change in the Mega Millions Pattern roster. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was not only the last to play in April, this appearance had the distinction of being an encore. Given this Pattern’s past with streaks, a three-peat to kick off May wouldn’t have been unusual.

Alas, another Pattern pushed the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern aside. This bold move was just one of two big events May 1, 2020. The other was a Pattern encore. With no grand prize winners, the jackpot rose to $215 million.

All Roads Lead to Rising Jackpots

Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their jackpots rise to $12.75 million and $37 million, respectively. However, the path each lottery took Wednesday night was fraught with its own perils, er, surprises. One surprise was an Australia Play, the other a Pattern encore.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The April 22, 2020 Lotto Texas drawing had 9, 17, 19, 30, 44 and 50 as the winning numbers. This marked the 238th appearance for both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order. Around these parts, that’s called an Australia Play.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations Wednesday night.

Powerball

As April is nearing its end, we’ll need to keep an eye out for Pattern encores. Take the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in Powerball, for example. After its encore, is a three-peat in the cards Saturday night? Will we also see an Australia Play encore in Lotto Texas?
