Price Tag: $57 Million

Nothing like a weekend road trip to get away for a bit! Oh sure, there’s that whole pandemic thing going around, but this is also a camping trip, and there’s just no way you’ll run into anyone else, right? And you left on a Friday, but you left just before the traffic picked up. One great thing about road trips is that you can stop over at greasy spoons or snap pictures of landmarks. Try doing that from an airplane! Oh, and it’s cheaper than flying, too.

Mega Millions managed to escape the crowd, but it wasn’t easy. Teasing players with the idea of a playback (Spoiler: there wasn’t one, though it was close) and throwing in a repeating Three-Number Combination kept players at bay. All that to the tune of a jackpot hike to $57 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern had the honor of showing up in the August 21, 2020 Mega Millions drawing. With winning numbers 11, 15, 31, 42, 63 and MB 14, this Pattern has now played 261 times.

Now with 16 appearances, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 20.3% of the 79 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 6.13% of the 261 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.69% of all 595 drawings.

“Spreading the Jackpot Madness” or “The Inner Workings of Lottery Society”

The lottery world has always been a strange place. Numbers are the dominant species, and clout is in the form of jackpot size. The larger your jackpot, the higher your status.

In this strange world, Lotto Texas has gained clout, and is determined to hold on to it. With the help of a rarely seen Pattern and a similar spread, this lottery cemented itself in high society. The jackpot climbed to $34.25 million.

Powerball’s jackpot rises and falls, like jackpots are wont to do. However, it could reassure itself that it was of a “better” stock than that Lotto Texas! Well, Powerball was able to continue its climb upward. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot there ascended to $29 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

August 19, 2020 saw the 63rd appearance of the {5-1} Pattern with winning numbers 20, 24, 29, 31, 33 and 51.

From the pages of a rare {5-1} Pattern. Source: lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now played in 3.53% of the 1787 Lotto Texas drawings and was last seen March 28, 2020.

Now with 11 appearances, the 0 5 1 Specific Order has played in 17.5% of the 63 drawings where {5-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1787 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.62% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 0 5 1 Specific Order was last seen March 25, 2017.

Similar Spread

The spreadfor August 19th was 04:05:02:02:18. On March 19, 2008, numbers 17, 35, 40, 42, 46 and 48 had a spread of 18:05:02:04:02. Differences between the numbers that played were the same, yet the orders in which they played on those nights were different. Now, some lotteries may gripe, saying this was a case of try-hard, but a similar spread was a touch of class. Who classier than Lotto Texas?

Four-Number Combinations

Of course, Lotto Texas wasn’t done. There were also two repeating Four-Number Combinations!

  • 20, 29, 31, 51 (Debuted January 5, 2008)

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball decided to go in the opposite direction and play a commonly seen Pattern, its most common Pattern, to be precise. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 194th appearance with 13, 23, 47, 55, 58 and PB 23.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Repeating Three-Number Combination 47, 55 and 58 debuted December 1, 2018.

While it is nice to be at the top, it would do Lotto Texas good to remember that the bigger they come, the harder they fall. It doesn’t take much effort for Powerball to rise to the $30 million+ range. Will Lotto Texas continue its time in the lottery high society, or will it feel the sting of a captured jackpot and the painful crash?

The Mid-August Encore Bump

There aren’t any U.S. holidays associated with August, at least none that are federally recognized. Many staples of “normal” life are either still closed or operating at minimal capacity, and the start of school? Well, let’s not think about that. In fact, let’s escape the madness for a while. Can’t really go anywhere, so streaming and Mega Millions will have to do.

Thing is, Mega Millions was unkind. That multimillion-dollar jackpot would have been a much-welcome escape from the rat race, and there wouldn’t be much (if any) worry about the kids’ education. On the other hand, more money was added to the pot, so it wasn’t all bad. The boost to $40 million was thanks to the workings of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore of August 14, 2020 was thanks to 3, 24, 29, 42, 47 and MB 13. This Pattern has now played 260 times.

Mega Millions on the Rebound

When Mega Millions is down, it’s never down for long! This may be due to its quick recovery rate. After a recent reset, it added $2 million to the pot, and this continued a few more times. The addition on August 11, 2020 jumped from a $2 million increase to a $7 million increase. With another night of no jackpot winners, the jackpot jumped from $24 million to $31 million.

With Mega Millions making a break for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, does that mean an encore is in the works for Friday night?

On the {2-1-1-1-1} Foot

August arrived in Mega Millions and like the heat, there was no letting go of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. After the grand prize had been grabbed so quickly after resetting, it seemed right to stick with the tried and true. With a jackpot that bumped up to $22 million, this strategy paid off.

Sitting High and Mighty on the Lottery Hill

We’ve entered the eighth month and the lotteries just won’t budge. Did Lotto Texas and Powerball find industrial-grade glue and plant themselves firmly at the top? Truthfully, it was their love of teasing players that kept the prizes unwinnable August 1, 2020. With no one picking the six winning numbers, Lotto Texas and Powerball ascended to $29.5 million and $147 million, respectively.

What comes to mind when you hear or see the word “California”? Whether you’re thinking of Silicon Valley or thrown into fits of irrational rage, there’s no denying that The Golden State is an economic powerhouse. Being the most populous state in the U.S. is nothing to sneeze at, either. And it was one, just one of those residents who could claim the $22 million prize offered in the July 31, 2020 drawing.

The jackpot was swooped up faster than anyone could say, “Gnarly!” Naturally, the jackpot reset itself to $20 million.

Fortifying the Jackpot Fortresses

A grand shift is underway. July is almost over, and there are only a few more weeks until the start of the school year. Pandemic or no, that time of year is filled with both excitement and dread. Such a shift doesn’t exist for Lotto Texas or Powerball. Instead, they spent the night of July 25, 2020 fortifying their jackpot fortresses.

Both lotteries saw rising jackpots, one of which was thanks to the power of a playback. Lotto Texas grew to $28.5 million, the highest this blog has covered. Powerball extended its membership in the nine-figure club with a prize worth $126 million.

Joisey Millions

Mega Millions sizzled and then saw a big cool down. How you ask? The jackpot, once standing tall at $124 million, was brought down to size by a player in New Jersey. And wouldn’t you know it? A {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak and a [1-2-1-1-1] General Order encore joined forces to make the win possible! As is the nature of such things, the jackpot reset to $20 million. Embracing the Heat with a Pattern Three-peat

It’s the heart of summer and, like the heat, Mega Millions doesn’t look to be cooling down anytime soon! One reason for the lottery heatwave is a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat. The other? A boost in the jackpot to $124 million, which of course said three-peat had a hand in.
