Hopping Away to Crazy Millions

Easter has come and gone, and the Mega Millions jackpot grew once again. The jackpot eluded capture in the April 23rd, 2019 drawing. The fallout was a prize now standing at $212 million.

How’d Mega Millions get away? By exchanging the opportunity for a {2-2-1-1} three-peat with a hopping mad Australia Play, of course!

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 7, 24, 30, 48, 67, and MB 9, Mega Millions saw its twelfth Australia Play.

Of the 456 Mega Millions drawings, that means the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have played 2.63% of the time. It wasn’t that long ago when we last saw an Australia Play. In fact, it was just two weeks ago in the April 9th, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

An Australia Play was mad enough, it seems. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

April is just about over, and Mega Millions has a couple more opportunities for tricks before heading into May. The weekend will most certainly kick off with a crazy-large jackpot, or something close to it. Question is, will the Australia Play make an encore or will a more common Pattern appear?

Down Under with Mega Millions

Spring is in full swing and summer is right around the corner here in Lottery Trend Country. Naturally, things heated up for Mega Millions April 9th. Thinking it could avoid the pressures of high expectations, it jaunted off to the wondrous world of the Australia Play! Tuesday night saw this lottery deliver a powerful kick. Part of the aftermath was a $140 million grand prize for Friday. The rest, well, a blog post introduction isn’t enough to do it justice.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 11, 22, 34, 44, 58 and MB 9, the 11th Australia Play was made possible.

Of the 452 Mega Millions drawings, that means the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have played 2.43% of the time. An Australia Play was last seen September 25th, 2018.

The Australia Play isn’t that common, let alone in Mega Millions, so a Friday night encore isn’t likely. This lottery loves repeating Three-Number Combinations, though, so whether there’s a parade of them remains to be seen. Inquiring minds want to know: Will the jackpot in Mega Millions continue to climb?

Far from the Madness

This past Saturday and January 9, 2019 were worlds apart. On Saturday, we saw repeating Four-Number Combinations in both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Wednesday…was not like that. The lotteries took a subtler approach; no encores, no fireworks. Their respective grand prizes rose quietly to $12.5 million and $96 million. But, as (comparatively) quiet as things were, Wednesday night was far from boring!

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 5, 8, 16, 17, 37, and 52, the {4-2} Pattern made its 175th appearance.

Of the 1619 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 10.8% of the time and was last seen December 19, 2018.

Now with 25 appearances, the 4 0 2 Specific Order has played in 14.3% of the 175 drawings where {4-2} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 1.54% of all 1619 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 4 0 2 Specific Order played March 4, 2017.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

As quiet as Wednesday night may have appeared, Powerball had the most momentum. The 24th-ever Australia Play was thanks to winning numbers 6, 19, 37, 49, 59, and PB 22!

Given the 341 Powerball drawings, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have all played 7.04% of the time. We last saw an Australia Play right after Christmas. More specifically, on December 26, 2018.

Will the “quiet approach” continue Saturday night, or will Lotto Texas and Powerball be touched with weekend madness?

Gift of the Powerball

Lotto Texas and Powerball were like the Northern and Southern Hemispheres December 26th. They were polar opposites (no pun intended)! While it’s winter in New York City, it’s summertime in Sydney.

Speaking of New York City, Powerball gifted one player from Brooklyn with $298.4 million! That brought the jackpot down to a more “respectable” $40 million. Lotto Texas, ever the classy one, saw its jackpot ease on upward to $10 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern was so well-loved that Lotto Texas asked for it to come back for an encore! With winning numbers 5, 26, 33, 40, 42, and 47, this Pattern has now played 848 times.

A festive Pattern encore! Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1615 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.5% of the time.

Now with 152 appearances, the 1 2 3 Specific Order has played in 17.9% of the 848 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 9.41% of all 1615 drawings. We last saw this Specific Order on December 1st, 2018.

Four-Number Combination(s)

An encore wasn’t all the {3-2-1} brought with it; there were also two repeating Four-Number Combinations.

  • 5, 26, 40, 42 (Debuted October 30th, 2002)
  • 26, 33, 40, 47 (Debuted May 31st, 2017)

Hard to believe that one of these Combinations debuted sixteen years ago, and to think that we’re on the cusp of a new year! Time keeps on slipping, as they say.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Would you believe that it was an Australia Play that gifted the sole Powerball winner? The winning numbers were 5, 25, 38, 52, 67, and PB 24.

Given the nature of the Australia Play, that means the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have played 23 times. With there being 337 Powerball drawings, the Australia Play has appeared in 6.82% of them. Prior to Wednesday night, the Australia Play was seen August 8th, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Hopping alongside the Australia Play was lone repeating Three-Number Combination 25, 52, and 67.

The last lottery drawing of the year is this Saturday. Will the year end with a Pattern streak in Lotto Texas or perhaps someone becoming $10 million richer?

Megamillions Gets It Too!

Hello, Lottery fans, this is guest blogger, Romulun Harris, about to give his last post for a while. As we go deeper into Autumn, the event that happened with Lotto Texas on September 22, 2018 happened with Megamillions: an Australian play! Now for the report.

Last night on September 25, 2018, the winning numbers for Megamillions were 8, 16, 32, 48, 61, and MB 12.

As mentioned earlier, Megamillions experienced an Australian play when the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. They all made their 10th appearance and appeared in approximately 2.53% of all 396 drawings and last played on August 3, 2018.

There were no repeat Three-Number Combinations.

And now, before I leave you all, I would like to thank Freyja Harris for this opportunity to blog to you all for the past three days while she was on a trip in Canada. Freyja will be back tomorrow to fill in on the details while I continue my duties as analyst for lotterytrend-megamillions.com. Until the time comes again when I have to fill in for Freyja, this is Romulun Harris signing off.

Everybody Loves Australia (Plays)

Who doesn’t love Australia, right? What with the surfing, the wildlife, the weather…

But seriously. August 8, 2018 was a night like no other. In fact, something so wild, so crazy happened that we can’t talk about it in this paragraph. All we can tell you right now is that the jackpots for Lotto Texas and Powerball rose to a respective $16 million and $245 million.

With those six numbers, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have played 22 times. Given the 297 Powerball drawings, the Australia Play has played 7.41% of the time.

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination, 10, 43, and 63, made its debut in the October 19, 2016 drawing.

Could another first take place Saturday night with both Australia Plays making an encore?

Mega Millions Springs into August

The August 3, 2018 Mega Millions drawing was a bit different from last time. There was no {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat and the only similarity, if it can be called that, was an inching upward of the grand prize. With the jackpot now at $55 million, the one thing we can’t shake here at Lottery Binge is how for the first time since the spring, an Australia Play showed up.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 9, 28, 30, 54, 60, and MB 2, Mega Millions saw its ninth Australia Play.

Of the 381 Mega Millions drawings, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have appeared in 2.36% of them. This play is very uncommon here. Prior to Friday night, it was last seen on March 30, 2018.

Could the Australia Play pull an upset and make an encore appearance in Tuesday’s drawing?

The Australia Play Double Feature

Someone became at least $522 million richer after the July 24, 2018 Mega Millions drawing. Any lottery that had a drawing the next night would have its work cut out for it. Both Lotto Texas and Powerball rose to the occasion July 25th. Not only did their jackpots rise to $13 million and $168 million, respectively, they both saw an Australia Play! To learn more about what an Australia Play is, click here. Although the post covered Lotto Texas, the same principle applies to Powerball and Mega Millions.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Wednesday night.

Will either Australia Play do the “unthinkable” and go for an encore Saturday night? Will other Patterns be the ones to end July?

Great Lotteries Think Alike

In the past, we’ve seen Lotto Texas and Powerball play the same Pattern, and even have a “joint” Pattern streak. Although neither of those things happened May 9th, that night was a treat for playback lovers everywhere. In fact, the night was bouncing with not just playbacks but repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 9, 17, 30, 34, 39, and 51, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 215th appearance. These two combined make up that special playback we here like to call the Australia Play.

The {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have now played 20 times each. And, with 271 Powerball drawings, that means Powerball’s Australia Play has happened 7.38% of the time.  The last time this happened was in the April 4, 2018 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination was 50, 69, and PB 19.

Interestingly, this Combination made its debut in the April 21st drawing just a few weeks ago.

Another interesting (and totally out of character) thing is how short this post was for Lotto Texas and Powerball analysis. With Mother’s Day (for the US/Canada/Australia anyway) right around the corner, will these lotteries be sweet and chill, or go nuts with Australia Play encores?

Pattern Come Lately

For the first time in a while, neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball saw an encore Pattern. The drawing for April 4th belong to the Australia Play and the most-commonly seen Pattern in Lotto Texas.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

In an interesting twist of events, the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared again after a very brief leave of absence this past Saturday. This time, the winning numbers were 3, 11, 12, 34, 40, and 51, bringing the total number of appearances up to 802.

Eight consecutive appearances of the {3-2-1} Pattern would’ve been earth-shattering. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Given that Lotto Texas has 1539 drawings, this Pattern has played 52.1% of the time. We last saw the {3-2-1} Pattern in the March 28th, 2018 drawing.

Now with 149 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.6% of the 802 drawings where the winning Pattern was {3-2-1}. Finally, when looking at all 1539 drawings, this Specific Order has played 9.68% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the 3 1 2 Specific Order played in the March 24th, 2018 drawing.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball got bit by the Australia Play bug this time. With winning numbers 8, 24, 42, 54, 64, and PB 24, an Australia Play has occurred 19 times.

Powerball nabbed itself an Australia Play. Soure: lotterytrend-powerball.com

That means that, given the 261 Powerball drawings we’ve seen so far, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have played 7.28% of the time. Powerball last saw an Australia Play in the February 17th, 2018 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Alas, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either lottery see an encore in Saturday’s drawing, or will they take a breather from encores?
