Mega Millions’ Reduction Plan

The past few Mega Millions drawings saw a budding relationship with repeating Three-Number Combinations. At least three such Combinations would appear. As it is in life, so it is in the lottery world: Nothing lasts forever.

The April 6, 2021 Mega Millions drawing saw a massive reduction in repeating Three-Number Combinations. As that was going on, the jackpot crossed the $200 million threshold. More specifically, the prize had increased to $201 million.

General Lottery Analysis

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore Friday night, and will it be accompanied by repeating Three-Number Combinations?

Lotto Texas and Powerball Don’t Fool Around

Spring is considered a time of hope and new beginnings. For lottery players, the beginning of a new month is another chance to win the big bucks, and hopefully retire early. Of course, winning the prize won’t be easy.

On April 3, 2021, Lotto Texas and Powerball made sure their prizes went unclaimed. Lotto Texas saw the return of the {3-2-1} Pattern and a jackpot that rose to $8.75 million. Powerball came close to a playback but more importantly, its jackpot rose to $43 million.

Will Wednesday give us a Lotto Texas playback three-peat, and will Powerball get in the playback action?

Mega Millions’ New Trick

In our last Mega Millions post, we covered how four repeating Three-Number Combinations popped up independently of a repeating Four-Number Combination. On April 2, 2021, it happened again! The question is, which made that, and a jackpot shooting up to $184 million, possible?

General Lottery Analysis

A {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore was blocked by the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. This Pattern’s 288th appearance was made possible with winning numbers 10, 42, 48, 53, 62 and MB 19.

Three-Number Combinations

It turned out that Mega Millions outdid itself Friday night. Five repeating Three-Number Combinations took to the field, and not a repeating Four-Number Combination in sight!

The Combinations keep on coming! Source: lotteryttrend-megamillions.com.

Will Mega Millions have more tricks like this in the week ahead, or are we more likely to see a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore?

Lamb? What Lamb?

March was, without a doubt, a busy month for Lotto Texas and Powerball. Although the events of March 31, 2021 weren’t as wild as what took place this past Saturday, the night was far from calm. Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their respective jackpots increase to $8.5 million and $32 million. What’s more is that Powerball saw a double three-peat, and then some!

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern Marvel: Mega Millions Edition

If you played Mega Millions March 30, 2021, you probably thought this lottery would also go out like a lamb*. To all those who expected a quiet night, we’re (not) sorry to say that’s not what happened. The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its rounds and brought some friends. Their combined efforts helped propel the jackpot to $168 million!

Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern return for Friday night’s drawing?

27 Days Later

This post could have been called “The Ides of March”, except March 15th was two weeks ago. Instead, we paid homage to a horror film series. Sort of.

Thankfully, there were no zombie hordes running around and society didn’t collapse, though the aftermath of March 27, 2021 was nothing short of awesome. This awesome, of course, was more along the lines of inspiring admiration or fear (the original definition, in fact).

What triggered such an emotion, you ask? For starters, Lotto Texas saw a playback, and a jackpot that rose to $8.25 million. Powerball nearly saw a playback, but something else, something of greater magnitude, occurred. Two somethings. The first something was the $238 million Powerball jackpot being won by a sole player from Florida. Naturally, the jackpot reset itself to $20 million. The other something was a repeat Four-Number Combination!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 16, 24, 42, 45, 48 and 50, the {4-1-1} Pattern made its 204th appearance.

Now with 71 appearances, the 1 1 4 Specific Order has played in 34.8% of the 204 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1850 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.84% of the time.

Both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 1 1 4 Specific Order were last seen March 17, 2021. Talk about lucky!

Four-Number Combinations

A trio of repeating Four-Number Combinations made an appearance. In fact, one of these Combinations debuted in the earlier-mentioned March 17th drawing!

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 162nd appearance with winning numbers 6, 14, 38, 39, 65 and PB 6.

There have now been 572 Powerball drawings, and this Pattern has played 28.3% of the time.

Prior to Saturday night, both the {2-2-1-1} Pattern and the [2-2-1-1] General Order played March 24, 2021. Not only was this a near-playback, but this was also a double encore!

Now with three appearances, the 2 0 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 5.17% of the 58 drawings where the General Order was [2-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 1.85% of the 162 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.52% of all 572 drawings. The 2 0 2 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the July 8, 2020 drawing.

Four-Number Combination

The repeating Four-Number Combination (that wasn’t a typo) was 6, 38, 39 and PB 6.

This Combination debuted December 23, 2020.

Three-Number Combinations

Having popped the hood of a repeating Four-Number Combination, four repeating Three-Number Combinations were found deep inside:

  • 38, 39, PB 6
  • 6, 39, PB 6
  • 6, 38, PB 6
  • 6, 38, 39

All the combinations above debuted in the earlier-mentioned December 23rd drawing.

Powerball got hooked on repeating Three-Number Combinations, as there was room for one more! Repeating Three-Number Combination 14, 39, and 65 debuted January 16, 2021.

Will March end on a note like this, or will a quieter night await us on Wednesday?

Mega Millions Hops into the Weekend

March 26, 2021 saw a shift in the Patterns. Instead of an encore from the most commonly seen Pattern, we saw a visit from one that’s not so commonly seen. That is, we shifted from the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern to the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern. With the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern came the ever-wonderful Australia Play! The jackpot bounded away from the players and increased to $152 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The 19th Australia Play was made possible by 4, 25, 37, 46, 67 and MB 15.

Given the 657 Mega Millions drawings, that means the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 General Order have played 2.89% of the time. Prior to Friday night, January 22, 2021 was the last time we saw an Australia Play.

Three-Number Combinations

Bundled up in this Australia Play were three repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 25, 37, 46 (Debuted June 4, 2019)
  • 37, 67, MB 15 (Debuted November 20, 2015)
  • 37, 46, MB 15 (Debuted October 14, 2014)

Will an Australia Play do the unexpected and make an encore Tuesday night, or will Mega Millions say goodbye to March in a more “normal” manner?

A Spring in Their Step

This past Saturday, Lotto Texas and Powerball had the honor of welcoming spring. With a playback in Lotto Texas and a repeating Three-Number Combination in Powerball, they were more than ready to jump into the next season!

Yet, that was a quiet night compared to what happened March 24, 2021. The {3-2-1} Pattern returned in Lotto Texas and there was a parade of repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations! This madness propelled the Lotto Texas jackpot to $8 million, and Powerball jumped to $238 million.

Mega Millions in the Spring of Things

As the first week of spring continued, Mega Millions was more than happy to embrace the new season! Of course, as the new season began, March got closer to ending.
