Mega Millions NOT Tender and Mild

A more festive mood is in the air this year. With most everyone going about shopping, eating out, and going to the movies, it seems that last Christmas and the one before are distant memories! There are two sides to this festive mood coin. As the humans went about their Christmas ways, little did they know about the hyperactive Mega Millions that schemed to make their dreams of becoming (near) overnight millionaires a nightmare.

December 16, 2022 was more of a mischief night for Mega Millions. The triple encore that was seen earlier in the week was unceremoniously ditched. This paid off handsomely, as the already beastly jackpot grew to an astonishing $465 million!

General Lottery Analysis

Instead of paling around with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, or any of its crew, for the third time, Mega Millions opted for the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. Friday night’s winning numbers were 8, 35, 40, 53, 56 and MB 11, bringing the number of times this Pattern has played to 232.

No need for a three-peat to sew chaos! Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com

This Pattern has now played in 27.7% of the 837 Mega Millions drawings and was last seen November 29, 2022.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order, now with 78 appearances, has played in 33.6% of the 78 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 837 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 9.32% of the time. The [1-2-2-1] General Order was last seen September 23, 2022.

Now with seven appearances, the 1 0 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 8.97% of the 78 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.02% of the 232 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.84% of all 837 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the  0 2 2 0 1 Specific Order played April 17, 2020.

Four-Number Combination

Why go for a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat when Mega Millions dazzled the crowd with a repeating Four-Number Combination?!

Three-Number Combinations

Naturally, cutting a repeating Four-Number Combination open revealed four repeating Three-Number Combinations underneath:

  • 35, 40, 53
  • 35, 40, MB 11
  • 35, 53, MB 11
  • 40, 53, MB 11

The top three Combinations in the list debuted in the August 13th drawing mentioned earlier. The last Combination in the list debuted in the November 11, 2016 drawing.

Now, these weren’t the only Combinations! Repeating Three-Number Combination 53, 56 and MB 11 debuted December 31, 2019.

What Christmas goodies will Mega Millions have in store for next week?

Silent Night. Lottery Night.

Christmas is a time of wonder and merriment, and it’s also a time of reflection. A time to step back and soak it all in, you know? Those moments when not much happens can make you appreciate those wild moments more. This is generally true of not only people, but lotteries as well, apparently.

From monstrously sized jackpots to making it rain repeating Combinations, Lotto Texas and Powerball were busy these past few months! What with Christmas not being too far away, these lotteries toned it down significantly Wednesday night. As such, both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their respective jackpots rise to $21.5 million and $149 million.

As the Christmas countdown continues, how long will Lotto Texas and Powerball retain this “dignified” approach to jackpot boosting?

A Mega Millions Christmas Special: The Triple Encore

Specials are a staple of the holidays. From special deals on Amazon to watching Christmas specials, there’s just no escaping them. In fact, the Christmas season is a prime time for lotteries to offer specials of their own. And boy, did Mega Millions cook up something big!

Mega Millions has featured plenty of encores. No big deal, right? Well, what if we told you that the December 13, 2022 drawing featured three encores? The payoff was grand, as the special playback boosted the jackpot to $429 million.

General Lottery Analysis

These six numbers made the encore playback (or is it playback encore?) possible: 14, 22, 48, 58, 68 and MB 6. This brought the number of appearances for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern to 356.

We’re getting closer to Christmas and the jackpot is still holding strong! Will the jackpot grow once more with the help of a playback three-peat Friday night?

Silver and Gold

Seasons Greetings, Lotterytrend fans! Romulun Harris here. Last night on December 12, 2022, as the title implies, silver and gold did come to the Lottery World—and it was bigger than tinsel. That silver and gold came in the form of an Australia Play in Lotto Texas and Powerball’s frequently played {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. And now the details.

Pattern Encores are Brightly Shining

Why try your hand with one lottery when you can play two? That’s a thought that has crossed the minds of players every Monday (since last year), Wednesday, and Saturday. Two lotteries guarantee two tries to win the big bucks, right? Well, it’s not that simple. Whether you play Lotto Texas or Powerball, or both, things have come together to win the jackpot. Things did not come together December 10, 2022.

Lotto Texas and Powerball had it in their minds to revisit some very recently played Patterns Saturday night. These encores pushed the jackpots to $20.25 million and $124 million, respectively.

The Ever-Sublime Jackpot Climb

After toying with both an exact and a similar spread, Lotto Texas cast these aside Wednesday night. Heck, Powerball didn’t even approach those subjects! Instead, the mid-week drawings took a more, shall we say, common approach, to boost their jackpots. The Lotto Texas jackpot reached $19.75 million, and Powerball’s climbed to $116 million.

The 4-1-1 on That Crazy Mega Millions Over There

No two Mega Millions drawings are alike, and there was no better example than what happened December 6, 2022. It’s thanks to that Pattern that the jackpot ascended to $379 million.

Some Lotteries Like to Spread Out

After a month of going nuts over repeating Combinations, Lotto Texas and Powerball may going for another approach. That approach, dear readers, is the art of the spread.

December may have just started, but there were hints of change this past Wednesday night. A similar approach happened Saturday night for one lottery while the other went with repeating Combinations. Regardless of approach, both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their respective jackpots grow to $19 million and $89 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

An Australia Play has been featured in 14.1% of the 2093 Lotto Texas drawings and was last seen November 23, 2022.

Similar Spread

Lotto Texas mastered the exact art of a spread earlier in the week. Although that wasn’t present Saturday night, something similar did take place. Saturday’s winning numbers had a spread of 02:07:10:12:01. Similarly, the winning numbers from March 8, 2014, 18, 25, 35, 47, 49 and 50, had a spread of 07:10:12:02:01. With a similar spread, the differences between numbers played are the same, but their orders (and numbers played) are different.

A nice trio! Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Both Lotto Texas and Powerball’s jackpots continue to soar, and the art of the spread seems to be making headway. Still, it’s early yet. We’ll have to see if more similar and/or exact spreads are in the cards for these lotteries, or if they’ll abandon them like fruitcake.
