The Primetime Combination Smash

As the countdown to Super Bowl LVI (56 for those unacquainted with Roman numerals) continued, another game took place Saturday night. Lotto Texas and Powerball changed up their game plans once again, resulting in yet another personality swap! Lotto Texas returned to its ever-graceful self, and with that came a jackpot that rose to $9.5 million. Meanwhile, Powerball’s devil-may-care attitude with repeating Three-Number Combinations pushed the jackpot to $183 million.

As people stocked up on Super Bowl snacks and prepared for a romantic getaway (or an opportunity to embrace self-love), Mega Millions decided to shake things up. Friday night featured not one but two similar spreads! This unique move pushed the jackpot to $53 million.

Lotto Texas and Powerball Do a Flip

Lotto Texas and Powerball couldn’t be any more different! Why, just a few posts ago, we talked about Lotto Texas’s grace and poise and how audacity was Powerball’s raison d’etre. What we forgot to mention was that their personalities flip once in a while.

Most recently, that personality swap took place on February 9, 2022. The Mega Millions Tuesday Night Playback Special

An Australia Play is a special play indeed. In Mega Millions (and Powerball), it translates to the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order being the same. That is, {1-1-1-1-1-1}, [1-1-1-1-1-1], and 1 1 1 1 1 1, respectively. Another thing that makes an Australia Play special is that given how joined at the hip the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order are, they all play on the same date. For our new readers, and anyone who may need a refresher, anytime the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order play together is called a playback. All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.

A note before we continue: For Lotto Texas, an Australia Play occurs when the {2-2-2} Pattern and 2 2 2 Specific Order are featured. Now, back to Mega Millions.

At least, that’s what legend says. Should a groundhog see his shadow on February 2nd, that means six more weeks of winter. If he doesn’t, then spring is right around the corner. Calendar aside, Phil saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter.

Meanwhile, the lottery groundhog predicted at least six more weeks of lotteries. With February 2, 2022 falling on a Wednesday, that meant the Groundhog Day honors went to Lotto Texas and Powerball.
