The Primetime Combination Smash

As the countdown to Super Bowl LVI (56 for those unacquainted with Roman numerals) continued, another game took place Saturday night. Lotto Texas and Powerball changed up their game plans once again, resulting in yet another personality swap! Lotto Texas returned to its ever-graceful self, and with that came a jackpot that rose to $9.5 million. Meanwhile, Powerball’s devil-may-care attitude with repeating Three-Number Combinations pushed the jackpot to $183 million.

Lotto Texas and Powerball couldn’t be any more different! Why, just a few posts ago, we talked about Lotto Texas’s grace and poise and how audacity was Powerball’s raison d’etre. What we forgot to mention was that their personalities flip once in a while.

An Australia Play is a special play indeed. In Mega Millions (and Powerball), it translates to the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order being the same. That is, {1-1-1-1-1-1}, [1-1-1-1-1-1], and 1 1 1 1 1 1, respectively. Another thing that makes an Australia Play special is that given how joined at the hip the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order are, they all play on the same date. All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.
