July 14th was a national holiday – in France. It was on that date in 1789 that revolutionaries stormed a medieval armory/political prison known as the Bastille. A symbol of the tyrannical monarchy, the storming triggered the start of the French Revolution. As to be expected, Bastille Day, or Fête Nationale (“National Celebration”)/Le 14 Juillet (“The 14th of July”), is a grand occasion. Military parades, concerts, and of course, fireworks are in order.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, the celebrations have since ended and most everyone has settled into a more “normal” pattern. Lotto Texas and Powerball appeared to follow suit.
