Mega Millions and the Combination Avalanche

Another Memorial Day and another May have come and gone. Mega Millions took the opportunity to start June off with a bang, and that it did! Instead of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat, this lottery had other plans. Recently, Mega Millions adapted a “trick” that allows for four repeating Three-Number Combinations without the use of a repeating Four-Number Combination! This “trick” was employed in the June 1, 2021 drawing as a side effect of the three-peat blocking Pattern. That Pattern also bumped the jackpot to $45 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 185th appearance with 7, 11, 33, 58, 63 and MB 23.

This Pattern has now played in 27.4% of the 676 Mega Millions drawings and was last seen May 21, 2021.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order, now with 57 appearances, has played in 30.8% of the 185 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 676 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 8.43% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [2-1-2-1] General Order played May 18, 2021.

Now with seven appearances, the 2 0 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 12.3% of the 57 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.78% of the 185 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.04% of all 676 drawings. We last saw the 2 0 1 0 2 1 Specific Order March 19, 2021.
