Pattern Streaks. They Do a Lottery Good

September 12, 2018 was a good night for lottery lovers. Not only did the Lotto Texas jackpot rise to $7.25 million, the Pattern streak held strong! Powerball, on the other hand, didn’t see a Pattern encore. What it did see was a rise in the jackpot, now standing at a cool $147 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

In an amazing turn of events, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its sixth, yes sixth consecutive appearance! This time, the winning numbers were 1, 3, 12, 20, 36, and 44.

The {3-2-1} Pattern has grown roots. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1585 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.3% of the time and remains second-to-none. The last time we saw the {3-2-1} Pattern was on September 8, 2018.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There was no similar spread this time. Instead, there was a repeating Four-Number Combination!

It was nearly seventeen years ago when this Combination first showed up! Will another seventeen years pass before it appears again?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Although Lotto Texas appeared to have the lion’s share of the action, Powerball was no slouch. With winning numbers 6, 28, 48, 63, 64, and PB 24, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 109th appearance.

Powerball had its own tricks. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 307 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 35.5% of them.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has now appeared in 34 drawings and has played in 31.2% of the 109 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 307 drawings into consideration, this General Order has played 11.1% of the time.

Now with nine appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 26.5% of the 34 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.26% of the 109 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 307 drawings, this Specific Order has played 2.93% of the time.

Instead of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore, Powerball gifted us with a playback. That is to say, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, and 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order all played together on September 5, 2018!

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Lotto Texas’s Pattern streak is one to look out for in Saturday’s drawing? Will the {3-2-1} Pattern shatter all records and go for a seventh appearance? Could Powerball get a touch of Pattern streak fever?

Brevity Was the Soul of Mega Millions

September 11th—a day that changed the course of humanity and one of the most defining moments of the 21st century. Considering the gravitas associated with this day, it was fitting that Mega Millions toned things down. The biggest draws Tuesday evening were (a) an increased grand prize (now at $227 million) and (b) a continuation of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern had a four-peat appearance, with winning numbers 15, 30, 51, 62, 67, and MB 19. This Pattern has played 172 times.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak held on. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 392 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.9% of the time. We last saw the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern on September 7th, 2018.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 40th appearance and has now played in 23.3% of the 172 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 392 drawings into consideration, this General Order has played 10.2% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order played on July 31st, 2018.

Now with five appearances, the 0 1 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 12.5% of the 40 drawings where [1-1-1-2-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 2.91% of the 172 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-1-1-1-1}. Finally, when taking all 392 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 1.28% of the time. The 0 1 1 1 2 1 Specific Order previously played on November 24th, 2017.

Three Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this past Tuesday.

The Pattern streak is holding strong as we head into Friday night’s drawing. Will there be a five-peat for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern?

The Five Voyages of a Common Pattern

Pattern streak fever was present in Mega Millions this past Friday, and it spread to Lotto Texas on September 8, 2018. The Lottery World was set on fire Saturday night with a five-peat and other things so wild they can’t be talked about in an introduction! The only other thing we can say is that the grand prizes rose for both Lotto Texas and Powerball. The respective prizes are now $6 million and $132 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 14, 21, 33, 43, 47, and 48, the {3-2-1} Pattern went on to play for the fifth time in a row! This Pattern has now played 828 times.

Of the 1584 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.3% of the time. September 5, 2018 was when we last saw the {3-2-1} Pattern.

Now with 147 appearances, the 1 2 3 Specific Order has played in 17.8% of the 828 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 9.28% of all 1584 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the 1 2 3 Specific Order played on June 2, 2018.

Similar Spread

The key thing to remember about a similar spread is that this happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. The spread for Saturday night was 07:12:10:04:01. This is similar to the spread that was seen on November 26, 2014. That night, the winning numbers were 14, 21, 31, 35, 36, and 48 and the spread was 07:10:04:01:12.

Lotto Texas developed a fondness for similar spreads last month, even seeing them happen back-to-back. Could another similar spread appear Wednesday night?

Four-Number Combination(s)

Believe it or not, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Although Lotto Texas dominated this past Saturday, Powerball still had a respectable showing and had its own surprises!

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 92nd appearance with winning numbers 3, 13, 20 32, 33, and PB 21.

Of the 306 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 30.1% of them, and was last seen on September 1, 2018.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order has played 28 times and has now appeared in 30.4% of the 92 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has played in 9.15% of all 306 drawings, and previously played on August 25, 2018.

Now with five appearances, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 17.9% of the 28 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1]. When taking all 306 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 1.63% of the time. The 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on March 22, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball may not have seen a Pattern encore, but there were two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

The big things to look out for Wednesday night are similar spreads and Pattern streaks. Will the {3-2-1} Pattern streak continue in Lotto Texas, and could either lottery see a similar spread?

Confessions of a Common Pattern

If the Mega Millions Patterns could talk, they’d be in admiration (or in envy) of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. It’s the most commonly played and what other Mega Millions Pattern do you know of that has played six times in a row? This record has yet to be broken, by the way.

To kick off the weekend, the September 7th drawing brought us a three-peat for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and a grand prize now at $207 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern threepeat was thanks to winning numbers 8, 10, 41, 54, 68, and MB 10. This Pattern has now played 171 times.

Of the 391 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.7% of the time.

Friday night also saw an encore for the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order. With 48 appearances, this General Order has played in 28.1% of the 171 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 12.3% of all 391 drawings.

Now with 16 appearances, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 33.3% of the 48 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 9.36% of the 171 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 391 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 4.09% of the time. Prior to Friday night, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order played on July 20th, 2018.

Three Number Combination(s)

This Combination made its debut in the April 4th, 2014 drawing.

Will next week see the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for a “four-peat”, or will another Pattern take the reins?

The Four-Timing Charm of the {3-2-1} Pattern

We’re going straight for the jugular today. September 5th belonged to Lotto Texas. Yes, the $6.75 million jackpot was dwarfed by Powerball’s $114 million. However, Lotto Texas was the one that saw a Pattern play four times in a row. Furthermore, that four-peat had a couple of other goodies nestled inside.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The 827th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 6, 28, 29, 34, 46, and 50.

The {3-2-1} Pattern stayed on top. Source: lotterytrend.com.

There have been 1583 Lotto Texas drawings, and this Pattern has played in 52.2% of them. Not only did the {3-2-1} Pattern play in this past Saturday’s drawing, it was also seen in the August 29th and August 25th drawings!

Also on board the encore train was the 1 3 2 Specific Order. Now with 124 appearances, this Specific Order has played in 15% of the 827 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 1583 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 7.83% of the time.

Seeing as both the {3-2-1} Pattern and 1 3 2 Specific Order were last seen together this past Saturday, this is what we like to call a playback.

Four-Number Combination(s)

A playback wasn’t the only “big play” of the evening. There was 6, 28, 29, and 46, the lone repeating Four-Number Combination.

This Combination made its debut in the March 9th, 2011 drawing.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Although Powerball didn’t have an encore, it too had a strong showing. With winning numbers 6, 15, 50, 59, 60, and PB 13, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remained the lottery’s most commonly seen Pattern.

This Pattern has now played 108 times, and given the 305 Powerball drawings, it has played 35.4% of the time. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was last seen on August 29th, 2018.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 33rd appearance and has now played in 30.6% of the 108 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 305 drawings into consideration, this General Order has played 10.8% of the time. The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order accompanied the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned August 29th drawing.

However, a playback was not meant to be. Now with eight appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 24.2% of the 33 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 7.41% of the 108 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 305 drawings, this Specific Order has played 2.62% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order played on July 21st, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Could the {3-2-1} Pattern go for a fifth appearance Saturday night? Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Powerball?

The September Climb

Summer’s over.

Okay, technically there are a few weeks left, but in terms of summer holidays and summer blow-out parties, those days are gone until next year. Traditionally, schools opened their doors after Labo(u)r Day across the U.S., but many schools did so at least a couple of weeks before. This week is for the last hold-outs of summer. To honor the passing of summer, Mega Millions started “the climb” on September 4th. That “climb” was to a crazy large jackpot. Tuesday night saw the grand prize rise to $187 million, among other things.

General Lottery Analysis

One of those things concerned the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. More specifically, this Pattern was loved so much that it made an encore! With winning numbers 2, 7, 25, 35, 44, and MB 3, it made its 170th appearance.

Finally, when taking all 390 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 1.79% of the time. We last saw the 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order on March 16th, 2018.

Could the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for the three-peat Friday night? Will the Mega Millions jackpot continue to climb upwards?

Bienvenidos al Septiembre (Welcome to September)

In the US, Spanish is one of several languages offered in schooling. Speaking of, this is the month that the remaining schools open their doors once again, the Halloween decorations show up in stores, and (handegg) football season starts up. Interestingly, September gets its name from “Septem”, the Latin word for seven.

The ninth (yet named for seven) month started on Saturday this year. September 1st saw the jackpots for Lotto Texas and Powerball inch up to $6.5 and $100 million, respectively, and one Pattern made its third repeat appearance.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern make a fourth appearance in Wednesday’s Lotto Texas drawing? Could Powerball’s {2-2-1-1} see an encore?

The Friday Night August Finale

The numbers have spoken. With the end of the month coinciding with a holiday weekend (US/Canada), one would not be at fault thinking that the occasion would be marked by something grand. After all, Labo(u)r Day is the unofficial end to summer. You have to go out with a bang, yes? A {3-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat would have been fitting, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Instead, the August 31st Mega Millions drawing offered up a rising jackpot, now at $167 million, and the lottery’s most commonly seen Pattern.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 7, 18, 29, 32, 45, and MB 17, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 169 times.
