May We See Your Combinations, Mega Millions?

Mardi Gras (“Fat Tuesday”) season is in full swing. It’s a time of grand parties, flashiness, King Cake, and bingeing. Of course, Mega Millions wanted in on the festivities. After all, it’s no stranger to being flashy. Pattern streaks, playbacks, and the similar spread are just a few tools in its arsenal. Not only was there a similar spread, there was a repeating Four-Number Combination as well. That was not a typo. With this insane mishmash of (repeating) Combinations and a similar spread, we can say without hesitation that February 9, 2018 was one of the grandest nights we’ve analyzed.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 28, 34, 41, 46, 47, and MB 14, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played 94 times.

A lot of things can happen with just six numbers. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 331 drawings, this Pattern has played in 28.4% of them, and was last seen on January 23, 2018.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order made its 33rd appearance and has played in 35.1% of the 94 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has now played in 9.97% of all 331 drawings. Prior to Friday night, we saw the [1-2-2-1] General Order on January 9, 2018.

Now with six appearances, the 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 18.2% of the 33 drawings where [1-2-2-1] was the General Order of the evening. This Specific Order has also appeared in 6.38% of the 94 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-2-1-1}. Finally, when taking all 331 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 1.81% of the time. The 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the October 6, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Spread ‘Em

A similar spread happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. The spread for Friday night’s numbers are 06:07:05:01. This is similar to the spread that occurred in the May 12, 2017 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 28, 34, 41, 42, 47, and MB 13, and the spread was 06:07:01:05.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Repeating Four-Number Combinations aren’t all that common in Mega Millions. The lone Combination was 28, 34, 41, and 47.

This made its debut in the May 12, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

The thing about repeating Four-Number Combinations is that there are repeating Three-Number Combinations rolled up inside. Four of them to be precise:

  • 28, 34, 41
  • 28, 34, 47
  • 34, 41, 47
  • 28, 41, 47

These four Combinations debuted alongside “mother” Combination 28, 34, 41, and 47 in the May 12th drawing mentioned earlier.

These weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations of the evening!

The real Mardi Gras is this coming Tuesday. Will Mega Millions keep the momentum going?

Joined by January

It seems that January, although officially over, is far from done. Our last post on Lotto Texas and Powerball covered how both saw a playback. Fun fact: the original dates for both were sometime in January. And, January continued its grip on the lotteries Wednesday night. We didn’t see any playbacks, but Lotto Texas and Powerball had something in common.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 791st appearance February 7th, with winning numbers 4, 15, 35, 40, 44, and 50.

Given that there have been 1523 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 51.9% of the time. This Pattern previously played in the January 31st, 2018 drawing.

With 116 appearances to date, the 2 1 3 Specific Order has played in 14.7% of the 791 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared. Looking at all 1523 drawings, this Specific Order has played 7.61% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order the January 24th, 2018 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Four-Number Combination of the evening was 4, 15, 40, 50.

Powerball was also “hit” by January. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Of the 245 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 20.4% of them. Here’s the commonality between Lotto Texas and Powerball: the {3-1-1-1} Pattern also played in the January 31st, 2018 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order, now having made its sixteenth appearance, has played in 32% of the 50 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 6.53% of all 245 drawings. We last saw the [1-3-1-1] General Order in the January 6th, 2018 drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 12.5% of the sixteen drawings where [1-3-1-1] was the General Order of the evening. This Specific Order has also played in 4% of the 50 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 0.82% of all 245 drawings. Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time.

Will there be Pattern encores this Saturday night?

It Coulda Been a Playback

One would be tempted to think that Playback Fever would spread to Mega Millions in the February 6th drawing. After all, Lotto Texas and “sister” lottery Powerball saw playbacks this past Saturday. Right before the Super Bowl, no less! As the title hinted, it was close, but it just wasn’t meant to be. There were a couple of things that played together on a previous date. Tuesday night was also a good night for repeating Three-Number Combination lovers.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 14, 17, 25, 48, 58, and MB 25, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 144th appearance.

No playback this time. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 330 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 43.6% of them. We last saw this Pattern January 26, 2018.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, now with 31 appearances, has played in 21.5% of the 144 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. And, it accompanied said Pattern in the earlier-mentioned January 26th drawing. When looking at all 330 drawings, this General Order has played 9.39% of the time.

So that means the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order wasn’t seen in the January 26th drawing. Believe it or not, this Specific Order played in the January 19, 2018 drawing, exactly one week prior. Now with eight appearances, this Specific Order has played in 25.8% of the 31 drawings where [1-2-1-1-1] was the General Order, and in roughly 5.56% of the 144 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 330 drawings, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 2.42% of the time.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Friday’s drawing? Could there even be a playback?

Pre-Super Bowl Playbacks

Ah, the Super Bowl. The teams, the commercials, the over-the-top halftime shows, truly (pigskin) football is the real American pastime. As Lottery Trend Country was getting ready for the Super Bowl, things were not quiet on the lottery front. The theme for February 3rd was “Playback”, and both Lotto Texas and Powerball delivered the goods.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The Australia Play is the ultimate playback. Both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 208th appearances, with winning numbers 3, 12, 24, 29, 38, and 50.

This statistic becomes 13.3% when taking the 15 drawings where {3-2-1} played into account. Finally, when looking at all 244 drawings, this Specific Order has played 0.82% of the time.

The {3-2-1} Pattern, the [3-2-1] General Order, and the 0 3 0 2 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the January 27, 2018 drawing.

Will there be more playbacks and Australia Plays in the week ahead?

An Encore for Groundhog Day

In our last Mega Millions post, we asked if a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore would start off February. Well, Mega Millions delivered Friday night. February 2nd also took on another meaning here in the States: Groundhog Day. Our focus of course is on that Pattern encore, and it wasn’t the only big thing that happened.

General Lottery Analysis

We now come to the 3 1 1 0 0 1 Specific Order, which has now played three times. Given the 22 drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, this Specific Order has played 13.6% of the time. Finally, when taking all 329 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 0.91% of the time. Will next week lead to the establishment of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern streak, or will another Pattern take the reins?

Super Blue Lotteries

January 31st was more than just the last day of the month. A Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse could be seen in North America, Australia, and parts of East Asia. If you’re an eclipse enthusiast who missed it, YouTube has videos aplenty. Meanwhile, Lottery Trend headquarters saw a commonality between Lotto Texas and Powerball.
