Night of the (Almost) Rhyme

The number of days until Christmas continues to wind down and Mega Millions added a little more fuel to the fire. Although the December 13th drawing wasn’t as explosive, it still stirred things up a bit.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made an encore Tuesday night. Its 102nd appearance was made possible by winning numbers 2, 15, 26, 34, 41, and MB 14.

This Pattern has now played in 31% of the 329 Mega Millions drawings to date. Since this is an encore and all, we saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern previously play in this past Friday’s drawing (December 9th).

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 36th appearance and it too played previously in the December 9th drawing. This General Order has now played in 35.3% of the 102 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 10.9% of all drawings.

Finally, we come to the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order, making its third appearance. As of Tuesday, this Specific Order has played in approximately 8.33% of the 36 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared, 2.94% of the 102 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.91% of all Mega Millions drawings. Prior to Tuesday’s drawing, we last saw the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order on November 14th, 2014.

As we look ahead to the last Friday of sane Christmas shopping (the 23rd will be a nightmare), will the {2-2-1-1} go for a three-peat? Will someone get a huge Christmas bonus?

And the Gifting Continues

What a week! Wednesday’s drawing had an Australia Play and repeating Three-Number Combinations in Lotto Texas and Powerball, respectively. The gift explosion continued Saturday in more ways than one.

Lotto Texas

The December 10, 2016 drawing was the 731st appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern. The occasion was marked by winning numbers 1, 9, 14, 26, 37, and 46.

As of Saturday, this Pattern has appeared in 52.1% of the 1402 Lotto Texas drawings to date. We previously saw the {3-2-1} Pattern last weekend in the December 3, 2016 drawing.

The 3 1 2 Specific Order made its 130th appearance, its first since the October 5, 2016 drawing. This Specific Order has played in 17.8% of the 731 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 9.27% of all drawings.

Our Lotto Texas coverage ends with two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 1, 9, 37, and 46, which debuted on July 4, 2012 and
  • 1, 14, 26, and 46, which debuted November 4, 2015

Powerball

Remember in our coverage of Wednesday’s drawings that Lotto Texas saw an Australia Play? Powerball got in on the action with the appearance of the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers were 12, 21, 32, 44, 66, and PB 15.

With 13 appearances, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 10.5% of 124 Powerball drawings to date. As is the nature of the Australia Play, these statistics also apply to the [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. Powerball last saw an Australia Play in the November 2, 2016 drawing.

As parents (and teachers) brace for the upcoming Christmas break, will we see an unprecedented Australia Play streak? Will either Lotto Texas or Powerball see a similar spread?

Spreadin’ That Christmas Spirit

December 9th was an explosive start to the weekend. The Mega Millions drawing of the evening saw a development that heated things up. How hot did it get?

For those of you who were expecting an encore of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, we’re sorry to disappoint you. Instead, we saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern play for the 101st time. The winning numbers were 19, 27, 47, 67, 68 and MB 1.

As of Friday, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played in 30.8% of the 328 Mega Millions drawings. We recently saw this Pattern last weekend in the December 2nd drawing. It’ll be a while yet before {2-2-1-1} challenges the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern for Most Commonly Played Pattern!

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 35th appearance, its first since the September 2nd, 2016 drawing. With that said, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has now played in 34.7% of the 101 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 10.7% of all drawings.

Next, the 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order made its second appearance. Currently, this Specific Order has played in 5.71% of the 35 drawings where [2-1-2-1] was the General Order of the evening, 1.98% of the 101 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern played, and in approximately 0.61% of all Mega Millions drawings. To see when the 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order debuted, we need to go back to the December 19th, 2015 drawing.

Now, about that development.

Friday night saw something so hot, so spectacular, that it’s never been seen before. At least, with the 1-75 white-ball and MB 1 – 15 system.

Mega Millions saw its first similar spread!

For those of you who are new to Lottery Trend/Lottery Binge, a spread is the difference between adjacent numbers. A similar spread happens when the differences between numbers in separate drawings are the same, but the order is different. For instance, the winning numbers for the January 10th, 2014 drawing were 8, 28, 36, 37, 57, and MB 8. The spread that appeared that evening was 20:08:01:20. The spread that appeared Friday night was 08:20:20:01. Note that with Mega Millions, the Mega Ball is not included when determining the spread. We can also see, upon closer inspection, that the spreads for January 10th, 2014 and Friday were similar.

There is also the exact spread, which occurs when the difference between adjacent numbers and their orders are the same. More information can be found on our Mega Millions site (hint, hint).

As it start to feels more like Christmas, will Mega Millions continue to be gracious with the gifts?

Mid-Week Fireballs

We’re only a week into December and so far, it’s shaping up to be quite a month! December 7, 2016 gave us a Pattern in Lotto Texas that we haven’t seen in a while, and Powerball had an interesting play as well.

Lotto Texas

Although we didn’t see a repeating Four-Number Combination this time around, we saw an Australia Play. That is, the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order  made their 191st appearance. The winning numbers were 4, 5, 29, 34, 40, and 53.

As of Wednesday, the {2-2-2} Pattern has played in 13.6% of the 1401 Lotto Texas drawings. As is the nature of the Australia Play, this statistic also applies to the 2 2 2 Specific Order. We last saw both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order in the October 29, 2016 drawing.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern did not make an encore appearance. Instead, we saw the {3-1-1-1} Pattern play. The 23rd appearance of this Pattern was made possible by winning numbers 41, 48, 49, 53 64, and PB 20.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 18.7% of the 123 Powerball drawings to date. Prior to Wednesday, this Pattern previously played in the November 26, 2016 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order made its 9th appearance, its first since the November 12th, 2016 drawing. This General Order has now played in 39.1% of the 23 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.32% of all Powerball drawings.

Next, the 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order made its second appearance Wednesday night. This Specific Order has now played in 22.2% of the 9 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared, 8.70% of the 23 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and 1.63% of all 123 drawings. The 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order made its debut in the November 21, 2015 drawing.

Finally, Powerball saw two Three-Number Combinations repeat. These were

  • 49, 64, and PB 20, which first played August 27, 2016, and
  • 48, 49, and PB 20, which first played October 15, 2016

Looking ahead to Saturday’s drawing, will Patterns not commonly seen in either Lotto Texas or Powerball continue to have their play? Will we see another Australia Play?

Adding a Little Spice

As more cold air enters Lottery Trend country, Mega Millions heated up a bit in the December 6th drawing. Tuesday’s drawing not only gifted us with the most commonly seen Pattern, but a repeating Three-Number Combination!

Unlike the {2-1-1-1-1} in Powerball, the {2-1-1-1-1} in Mega Millions is in no danger of being upstaged anytime soon. With 130 appearances, this Pattern has appeared in 31.5% of the 327 drawings. The 130th appearance was made possible by winning numbers 13, 34, 48, 53, 63, and MB 12.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern previously played last month in the November 15th drawing.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order made its 30th appearance, its first since the November 4th, 2016 drawing. As of Tuesday, this General Order has appeared in 23.1% of the 130 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played, and 9.17% of the 327 drawings to date.

Next, the 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order played for the eighth time. With that said, this Specific Order has now appeared in approximately 26.7% of the 30 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General order has played. The 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has also appeared in 6.15% of the 130 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played, and in 2.45% of all Mega Millions drawings. Prior to Tuesday’s drawing, we last saw the 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order on October 28th, 2016.

Last, but certainly not least, we saw the Three-Number Combination 48, 53, and MB 12 make a repeat appearance.

This Combination made its debut in the November 8th, 2016 drawing.

What will Friday’s drawing have in store? Will a rarely-seen Pattern get to play, or will the {2-1-1-1-1} make an encore? Will we see another repeating Three-Number Combination?

December Warm-Up

December is marked by the change of seasons. In Lottery Binge country, it means the transition from autumn to winter. As cold and stormy weather takes hold, there were developments in Lotto Texas and Powerball on the night of December 3rd that brought some welcome warmth.

Lotto Texas

Lotto Texas reached a milestone Saturday night; it was the 1400th drawing with balls numbered 1 through 54. This special occasion was marked by the 730th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern. The winning numbers were 15, 24, 31, 47, 51, and 52.

The {3-2-1} Pattern has now played in 52.1% of the 1400 Lotto Texas drawings. This Pattern played previously in the November 26th drawing, which was in fact one week prior.

Next, the 1 2 3 Specific Order made its 136th appearance, its first since the November 5th, 2016 drawing. This Specific Order has now played in 18.6% of the 730 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern played, and in 9.71% of all drawings.

The biggest development for Lotto Texas was the repeat appearance of the following Four-Number Combination: 15, 24, 47, and 52.

This Four-Number Combination made its debut on February 4th, 2012.

Powerball

Powerball saw an encore appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, thanks to winning numbers 8, 10 26, 27, 33, and PB 22.

Now with 41 appearances, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played in 33.6% of all 122 Powerball drawings. Recall that the {2-2-1-1} Pattern recently played in the November 30th drawing. Is this encore appearance a prelude to yet another Tango with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern?

Moving on, the [2-2-1-1] General order made its 15th appearance, and it also previously played in the November 30th drawing. The [2-2-1-1] General Order has now played in 36.6% of the 41 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared and 12.3% of all Powerball drawings.

Our Saturday coverage concludes with the 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order, now having played three times. This Specific Order has now appeared in 20% of the 15 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played, 7.32% of the 41 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, and 2.46% of all Powerball drawings. Prior to Saturday, the 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the September 14th, 2016 drawing.

As the first full week of December is in full swing, will Lotto Texas get in on the action of successive repeating Patterns? Will the infamous tango between Powerball’s {2-2-1-1} and {2-1-1-1-1} Patterns commence once again?

December Special

Mega Millions got in the holiday spirit on December 2nd by giving us a couple of gifts. Not only was it a generous way to start the weekend, it helped start our December coverage with a bang.

Friday’s Mega Millions drawing saw the 100th appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. This occasion was marked by winning numbers 3, 33, 35, 49, 51, and MB 1.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played in 30.7% of the 326 Mega Millions drawings to date. We saw this Pattern play previously in the Black Friday (November 25, 2016) drawing last week.

Next, the [1-2-2-1] General Order made its 29th appearance, and it too previously played in the Black Friday drawing. This General Order has now played in 29% of the 100 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, and approximately 8.90% of all Mega Millions drawings.

This Specific order has now played in 13.8% of the 29 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order appeared, 4% of the 100 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern appeared, and in 1.23% of the 326 Mega Millions drawings. To see when the 1 0 2 2 0 1 General Order previously played, we need to go back a couple of years. More specifically, the October 10, 2014 drawing.

Finally, Mega Millions gifted us with the presence of two repeating Three-Number Combinations. These combinations were

As Christmas draws ever closer, will Mega Millions see a Pattern streak this month? Will there be more repeating Three-Number Combinations?

A Chilly Finish

And so we’ve come to the end of November. There was nothing explosive in either the Lotto Texas or Powerball drawings Wednesday night. However, one spark of warmth appeared in Powerball.

Lotto Texas

The {3-3} Pattern made its 119th appearance November 30, 2016, thanks to winning numbers 22, 26, 36, 45, 47, and 49.

Now that there have been 1399 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the {3-3} Pattern has now played 8.51% of the time. We last saw this Pattern a few weeks ago, in the November 16th drawing.

Next, we come to the 0 3 3 Specific Order, making its 41st appearance. This Specific Order has now appeared in 34.5% of the 119 drawings where the {3-3} Pattern has played and 2.93% of all Lotto Texas drawings. To see when the 0 3 3 Specific Order previously played, we need to go back to March 2nd, 2016.

Powerball

We saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make its 40th appearance. The winning numbers were 3, 14, 18, 25, 45, and PB 7.

Before you shout “Powerball Pattern Tango!” keep in mind that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has made 42 appearances. Any murmurs of this Tango returning are premature at best.

Now, referring to the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, it has now played in 33.1% of all 121 Powerball drawings. We last saw this Pattern in the October 26th, 2016 drawing.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 14th appearance, its first since the September 28th, 2016 drawing. This General Order has now played in 35% of the 40 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, and 11.6% of all Powerball drawings.

Our Powerball coverage continues with the 2 2 0 1 0 1 Specific Order. With its fourth appearance, this Specific Order has played in 28.6% of the 14 drawings the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, and 10% of the 40 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Prior to Wednesday, the 2 2 0 1 0 1 Specific Order played in the March 23rd, 2016 drawing.

The spark of warmth came from the repeating Three-Number Combination 3, 18, and 25.

This Combination made its debut earlier this year in the April 16th drawing.

As we draw closer to the end of 2016, what will Lotto Texas and Powerball have in store?

Remember, Remember, the Eleventh of November

November was quite a month for Mega Millions, full of excitement and upsets. On the surface, the November 29th drawing looked…normal. No Australia Play, no encore or three-peat Pattern, and certainly no repeating Three-Number Combinations! Of course, even a “normal” drawing isn’t always what it seems to be in the lottery! What’s so special about the eleventh that we need to remember it, anyways?

For starters, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern was last seen on November 11th, 2016. Tuesday’s drawing was the 52nd appearance of this Pattern, made possible by winning numbers 22, 33, 49, 51, 59, and MB 8.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 16% of the 325 Mega Millions drawings to date.

Next, we come to the [1-1-3-1] General Order, making its 20th appearance. This General Order has played in 38.5% of the 52 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 6.15% of all drawings. The [1-1-3-1] General Order was also previously seen in the November 11th drawing.

We wrap up our November Mega Millions coverage with the fifth appearance of the 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 25% of the 20 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played. We’ve also seen it play in 9.62% of the 52 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.54% of all Mega Millions drawings. The 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order also played in the November 11th drawing!

December is on its merry way. Will Mega Millions mellow out or will it end the year with a bang?
