The Grand Combination Foundation

Numbers are the first thing many of us think of when we see or hear the word “lottery”, but the combination is the true backbone. While numbers get all the attention, they’re being propped up by combinations. When you dig deeper, there are certain arrangements, combinations if you will, that like to show up in every drawing. To make our analysis even more exciting, some of these combinations will repeat, multiple times in fact.

August 21, 2021 honored the combination. Lotto Texas and Powerball saw outstanding showings of repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations, respectively. Furthermore, the jackpots rose to $12 million in Lotto Texas and $293 million in Powerball.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball liked the {2-2-1-1} Pattern so much that it decided to play it again! The 177th appearance of this Pattern was made possible by 16, 28, 36, 39, 59 and PB 4.

Bouncy, Energetic Mega Millions

The events that took place August 20, 2021 can be described with one word: “whirlwind”. Mega Millions didn’t know what to do with itself. A playback made an appearance, but that wasn’t enough. No, Mega Millions got greedy. It just had to go crazy with the repeating Three-Number Combinations, and would you believe that there was another similar spread? Bouncing and darting through the lottery smorgasbord propelled the jackpot to $270 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 41, 43, 51, 57, 70 and MB 1, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 192nd appearance.

All three were last seen August 10, 2021.

Similar Spread

Friday night’s spread was 02:08:06:13. The spread for March 4, 2020 had a similar appearance. That night, 2, 8, 16, 18, 31 and MB 14 were the winning numbers, and the spread was 06:08:02:13. The same difference between numbers but of course, the orders of said numbers that played were different.

Three-Number Combinations

Mega Millions darn lost its mind after grabbing five repeating Three-Number Combinations!

  • 41, 43, 57 (Debuted November 29, 2013)
  • 43, 51, 57 (Debuted January 5, 2021)
  • 51, 57, MB 1 (Debuted March 7, 2014)

Will that energy carry over into Mega Millions next week, or will this lottery take a more “sophisticated” approach?

Play That Back Again

Repetition has many uses. Watching a movie for the 101st time, for example, lets us see what we may have missed the first 100 times (though it’s really due to familiarity and/or nostalgia). For lotteries, repetition can be from either a Pattern repeat, a Pattern streak, or a playback. The result may not be predictable, but there’s a sense of familiarity when a Pattern plays consecutively, or even when everything played together on the same date.

Although neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball saw Pattern encores, there was a playback. August 18, 2021 was a boon for both jackpots, though. The jackpot for Lotto Texas continued to hang on, stopping at $11.75 million, and Powerball settled at $290 million.

Mega Millions Spreads Out

Some spreads are nicer than others. Bedspreads add a layer of finesse to freshly made beds. Jellies and jams can help mask the toast that got burnt (again). Mega Millions has no need for beds or strawberry jam, but it does like spreads. All while this lottery engages in its love-hate relationship with the players, a similar spread does pop up once in a while. August 17, 2021 was one of those “once in a while” occasions. That and a playback cut short pushed the jackpot to $256 million.

General Lottery Analysis

Growing Jackpots Are Happy Jackpots

August 14, 2021 marked the end of the {3-2-1} Pattern streak in Lotto Texas. History has shown us that Pattern streaks aren’t necessary in boosting jackpots, and Saturday night proved history right.

An Australia Play was responsible for keeping the Lotto Texas jackpot above $10 million. So much so, in fact, that the prize grew to $11.25 million. Meanwhile, Powerball’s jackpot grew to a fat and happy $274 million.

Streak to Go Upward

Even though summer vacation is (almost) over, it’s still summer. Fall doesn’t arrive until September 22nd, and it’s still hot outside. Maybe not hot enough to cook eggs on the sidewalk, but chances are you’re still seeking shade or a cold drink when you’re outside. You’re still swearing under your breath (or out loud; we won’t judge) when the weatherman says it’s going to get even hotter.

Rising jackpots are nicer than 100-degree (Fahrenheit), 90% humidity days, anyway. Even better when one of those jackpots is now worth a quarter of a billion dollars!

August 11, 2021 was a good night for Lotto Texas and Powerball. Strong showings from both lotteries sent their respective jackpots to $10.75 million and $250 million.

Mega Millions’ Tuesday Night Bummer

Summer is just about over. The kids are heading back to school and your commute to work has gotten longer. Wouldn’t it be nice to forgo the commute or even better, not have to work at all? The freedom, the escapism that summer offers, all that could be available full-time by winning a lottery. The bigger the prize, the better, right?!

Mega Millions got the better of everyone Tuesday night. Anyone who was hoping for an Australia Play encore was sure to be disappointed. Of course, another shot at the jackpot meant a larger prize to be won! In response to no one winning the grand prize, said prize grew to $225 million.

The Golden Lottery Spectacle

After two weeks of triumph, defeat, and spectacle, the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo have come to an end. With the flame extinguished, it’s back to life in the “new normal”. That is until next year, when Beijing hosts the 2022 Winter Olympic Games and Paris hosts the Summer 2024 games. Hopefully by next summer the crowds will return!

Meanwhile, the lotteries put on a grand display of their own. August 7, 2021 was when the {3-2-1} Pattern showed off for the third time in Lotto Texas, and an Australia Play ruled Powerball. More importantly, both lotteries saw a boon in their jackpots. Lotto Texas hit the $10 million checkpoint, and Powerball ascended to $241 million.
