The Friday Night Scale-Back

What a week it has been! More students returning to class, Mega Millions seeing eight repeating Three-Number Combinations, truly this calls for a celebration! No need for a grand bonanza, though. A celebration can be as simple as taking it easy, grateful that you made it through another week and enjoying the finer things. Or, if you’re a lottery, you celebrate the end of the week by taking things down a notch.

Mega Millions, pardon the cliché, flipped the script Friday night. This lottery took to playing a more common Pattern and overall scaled things back. Nonetheless, the jackpot grew to a sturdy $116 million.

General Lottery Analysis

Mega Millions swapped out the {3-2-1} Pattern for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers for August 19, 2022 were 12, 18, 24, 46, 65 and MB 3.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 341 times. Given that Mega Millions has 803 drawings to its name, this Pattern has played 42.5% of the time. Prior to Friday night, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern played August 2, 2022.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, now with 78 appearances, has played in 22.9% of the 341 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 803 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 9.71% of the time.

Now with 19 appearances, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 24.4% of the 78 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.57% of the 341 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.37% of all 803 drawings.

Both the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order played July 15, 2022.

Three-Number Combinations

Most notably, Mega Millions cut back on the repeating Three-Number Combinations. Instead of eight, Mega Millions settled for four:

Is a quieter week ahead for Mega Millions, or was Friday night the calm before the storm?

Getting Another Go-Around

Patterns often play once, then go away for a bit before showing up again. Thus is the way of lotteries. Of course, there are times when a Pattern decides to stick around for a bit. Sometimes, it’s just for one more round, and other times it’s several. If you’ve been a long-time reader of our blog, you know, too, that some Patterns are more prone to this than others. What happens, then, on the nights when there are two lotteries and both of their Patterns come back for an encore?

Lotto Texas and Powerball thought it safer to stick with Pattern encores Wednesday night. Playing conservative paid off, with both jackpots climbing to $11.75 million and $80 million, respectively.

Three-Number Combinations

Upon a closer look, it turned out that Powerball wasn’t playing too conservatively. After all, there were four repeating Three-Number Combinations!

What say thee, Lotto Texas, and Powerball? Will these Patterns return Saturday night, or will other Patterns take hold?

Mega Millions Comes Full Circle

Mid-August appears to be the new “Day after Labor Day”. That is, many school districts have it in their minds to start school in the middle of August, sooner even. For Mega Millions, mid-August means dusting off a Pattern that, funny enough, was last seen at the beginning of many a summer vacation.

August 16, 2022 was, shall we say, grandiose, even for Mega Millions. To think that a single, rarely seen Pattern could cause the fracas it did, well, you’ll have to read for yourselves! The only “normal” thing about Tuesday night was the jackpot climbing to $99 million.

Prior to Tuesday night, the 0 0 3 2 0 1 Specific Order played November 12, 2021.

Before we get to the repeating Combinations, we suggest you pour yourself a drink and get comfortable.

Now, are you ready for this?

There were eight, yes, eight, repeating Three-Number Combinations. What led to this insanity, you wonder? Half of that work was done by a repeating Four-Number Combination.

Three-Number Combinations

Naturally, a repeating Four-Number Combination that’s sliced open has four repeating Three-Number Combinations tumbling out:

  • 33, 35, 51
  • 33, 35, MB 1
  • 35, 51, MB 1
  • 33, 51 MB1

All four of the above Combinations debuted in the earlier-mentioned December 2, 2016 drawing. The other four repeating Three-Number Combinations?

Was Mega Millions having a little fun or just greedy for repeating Three-Number Combinations? You decide!

Tuesday night’s {3-2-1} Pattern proved that a “small” Pattern can produce the biggest blowouts. Will this momentum carry into Friday night, or will Mega Millions kick off the weekend in a more “restrained” manner?

Current Status: Blocked

The block feature on phones is a godsend. Don’t recognize that spammy number? Block it. Tired of your ex calling you when you’ve clearly said, “It’s over”? Block ‘em! Although the ability to block is great for phones, that isn’t necessarily the case with lotteries.

August 13, 2022 was a night for blocking. Playbacks? Blocked. Pattern streak? Ooh, that was blocked for sure! Not only were a playback and a Pattern streak blocked, so were the players. Naturally, the Lotto Texas and Powerball jackpots climbed to $10.5 million and $56 million, respectively.

Mega Millions’ Choice: Go Out or Leftovers?

It’s Friday night. You’ve completed another work week, and the kids survived their first week back in school. How to celebrate? Going out to dinner and/or a movie is a thing again, and then y’all can swing by Dave and Buster’s for a while. What? You’re not going out? You’re going to stay home, go on a binge-a-thon (those episodes of The Boys won’t watch themselves!), and eat leftovers? Well, all right then. You do you.

At least Mega Millions has something going on. After all, people go nuts with ticket purchases, hoping to win the kind of money that makes a job an option instead of a necessity. Even if no one wins, there’s a Pattern encore or an Australia Play, or even an explosion of repeating Three-Number Combinations. Except when there aren’t any.

Mega Millions was more of a homebody than the life of the party Friday night. Instead of a Pattern encore, this lottery reached for the week-old leftovers and warmed them in the oven.

The jackpot rose all the same to $82 million, Mega Millions thought, and that was plenty enough excitement.

The Heat Makes Jackpots Grow Steady

Regardless of the back-to-school ads that pop up like mushrooms, August is firmly planted in summer. With August comes some of the hottest temperatures of the year. When it gets too hot, we want to do as little as possible outside. When it’s too hot outside and the hype of massive jackpots dies down, lotteries act similarly.

August 6, 2022 was another sticky summer night, and both Lotto Texas and Powerball had enough strength to give it a go with their most common Patterns. These gave their respective jackpots a boost to $9.5 million and $26 million.
