The date: December 20, 2022. With only five days until Christmas, Mega Millions saw a big cool down. Got to rest up for the Christmas Eve Eve drawing, you know! That, and with a jackpot that crossed the $500 million threshold, $510 million to be exact, no extreme plays were necessary.

One word that best described Saturday night was “Encore!” Both Lotto Texas and Powerball thought it best to stick with what they knew instead of going for unorthodox plays. Well, at least Lotto Texas played it somewhat safe as the jackpot hit $22 million. Although not too wild, Powerball took a page from the Mega Millions playbook and saw the jackpot rise to $158 million.

A more festive mood is in the air this year. With most everyone going about shopping, eating out, and going to the movies, it seems that last Christmas and the one before are distant memories! There are two sides to this festive mood coin. Specials are a staple of the holidays. From special deals on Amazon to watching Christmas specials, there’s just no escaping them. In fact, the Christmas season is a prime time for lotteries to offer specials of their own. And boy, did Mega Millions cook up something big!
