So Nice That It Played Twice

Tuesday night featured Mega Millions going out with the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. Perhaps it was because the jackpot went up, or Mega Millions saw something in this Pattern others overlooked. Whichever way you want to look at it, there was another outing with the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. This time around, the prize grew to $104 million.

Lotto Texas and Powerball’s February Fortitude

Winter blues? What winter blues? Winter has been extremely kind to both Lotto Texas and Powerball on the jackpot front. All right, Powerball has had one hiccup, but this lottery’s jackpot has been rising! With the seasons getting ready for their yearly March change-up, these lotteries’ jackpots are, pardon the expression, springing ahead, and with no one to stop them.

Wednesday night was kind to both jackpots. The Lotto Texas prize grew to $44 million with little fanfare. Meanwhile, Powerball’s rowdiness with a double encore pushed the jackpot to $73 million.

The Valentine’s Day 2023 Combination Special

Valentine’s Day is one of those “love to hate” holidays for more people than you think. Both singles and couples alike dread reminders of their relationship status (not all, mind you). If that isn’t enough, then there are the displays of cards, candies, plushies, and of course, flowers. Yet not many people turn down flowers, doubly so if chocolate is involved! Not  many people turn down the opportunity to win millions of dollars, either.

Mega Millions may not shower us with love and attention, but there does exist an opportunity to win enough money to not only retire early, but open the floodgates for buying more lavish gifts. Of course, money can’t buy love, and Mega Millions must be in the giving spirit.

Generosity was absent on the Mega Millions side. Valentine’s Day, or technically, Valentine’s Night 2023 was about the continuation of jackpot growth. Once everything settled down, the prize grew to $84 million.

General Lottery Analysis

February 14th featured the 241st appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers were 23, 24, 35, 40, 43 and MB 1.

Hanging Out in the Same (Jackpot) Neighborhood

Normally, Lotto Texas and Powerball hang out in different crowds. The former lottery tends to be more gracious whenever the jackpot rises. Meanwhile, the latter often goes all out, and isn’t afraid to flirt with the prospect of billion-dollar prizes, or close to that amount. Regardless of methods, it hasn’t escaped our notice that both Lotto Texas and Powerball do have one thing in common lately: the worth of their jackpots!

February 11, 2023 meant another night of growth for Lotto Texas. The return of a Pattern from earlier in the week boosted the jackpot to $41.75 million. Meanwhile, an Australia Play made the jump to $45 million possible for Powerball.

How close will the Lotto Texas and Powerball jackpots remain next week?

Mega Millions: Upwardly Mobile

“If you don’t like the way a lottery jackpot is trending, wait a couple of drawings.”

The above statement couldn’t be any truer for Mega Millions! This lottery endured several weeks of its jackpot resetting as fast as it rose. That changed Tuesday night when the jackpot climbed to $50 million. Things continued to trend upward for the jackpot Friday night; it rose to $67 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was what broke the “curse of the reset”, and it was its return February 10, 2023 that boosted the jackpot. Thanks to 20, 29, 30, 52, 58 and MB 19, this Pattern has now played 359 times.

A welcome assist from these six numbers! Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Once all 853 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 9.85% of the time. November 15, 2022 was the last time the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order played.

Now with 23 appearances, the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 27.4% of the 84 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 6.41% of the 359 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.70% of all 853 drawings. Is a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat in store for Tuesday night, and will it continue to push the jackpot upward?

The 4-1-1 on Wednesday Night

On Monday night, Powerball was hit with the mighty force of a reset. By way of a {4-1-1} Pattern, the jackpot grew to $34 million Wednesday night. Funny enough, Lotto Texas also saw the {4-1-1} Pattern! That Pattern was how Lotto Texas wound up with a jackpot currently larger than Powerball’s: $41 million. Even though the {4-1-1} Pattern was present in both lotteries, how it played couldn’t be any more different!

Lotto Texas

This Pattern has now played in 2.73% of the 844 Powerball drawings.

The [1-4-1] General Order, now with 14 appearances, has played in 60.9% of the 23 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 844 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 1.66% of the time.

Both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the [1-4-1] General Order played December 5, 2022.

A playback was a tempting prospect, but Powerball opted for debuting the 0 0 0 1 4 1 Specific Order, instead. This Specific Order has now played in 7.14% of the 14 drawings where the General Order was [1-4-1]. The 0 0 0 1 4 1 Specific Order has also now played in 4.35% of the 23 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.12% of all 844 drawings.

Similar Spread

Wednesday’s numbers had a spread of 06:01:05:02. Similarly, the winning numbers of April 18, 2018, 9, 10, 12, 17, 23 and PB 9, had a spread of 01:02:05:06. Note that although the differences between numbers played were the same, their orders, and the numbers that played, were different.

Four-Number Combination

A new Specific Order and a similar spread was just a warm-up! Repeating Four-Number Combination 58, 59, 66, and PB 9 debuted in the February 1, 2023 drawing. That was just one week ago!

Three-Number Combinations

Naturally, the repeating Four-Number Combination had four repeating Three-Number Combinations buried inside:

  • 58, 59, 66 (Debuted February 1, 2023)
  • 58, 59, PB 9 (Debuted July 18, 2020 and previously played February 1, 2023)

  • 59, 66, PB 9 (Debuted May 3, 2017 and previously played February 1, 2023)

There was room enough for a couple more:

Lotto Texas and Powerball may be different lotteries, but they aren’t above operating on the same wavelength. Is Saturday night going to be another “two great minds think alike” scenario, or will they take different paths?

Good Things Come to Lotteries Who Wait

Finally! After weeks of being stuck in a cycle of swift resets, the Mega Millions jackpot rose once again Tuesday night. With a jackpot that grew to $50 million, and Powerball’s spectacular takedown, Mega Millions couldn’t be any happier.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 9, 15, 46, 55, 57 and MB 4, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 358th appearance.

Grade A Lotteries

The “A” grade, source of both triumph and anxiety. More “A’s” on a report card means a higher grade point average (and happier parents). An “A” rating at a restaurant means the best food and high-quality service. For lotteries like Lotto Texas and Powerball, an A grade translates to, “Winning the jackpot is going to be a challenge.”

Lately, those who’ve played either or both lotteries have seen how their jackpots kept going up. After February 4, 2023, that didn’t change! No wild plays were needed to boost the Lotto Texas jackpot to $38 million. Meanwhile, Powerball, opting out of a Pattern streak, raised the jackpot to $747 million.
