Christmas Countdown: Mega Millions Style

The world is now in countdown mode. There are now nine days until Christmas and sixteen days until the new year. Subtract a day if you’re reading this from a part of the world that’s at least eight hours ahead of us in Houston. With that said, December 15th was the (un)official start of the countdown, and Mega Millions wanted a part of the action. At the end of the last Mega Millions post, we wondered if a rare Pattern would make an appearance Friday night. Did a rare Pattern have the honor of appearing in the 315th drawing?

General Lottery Analysis

The honor went to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 4, 12, 36, 44, 57, and MB 19, this Pattern has now played 138 times.

The ever-resilient {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played in 43.8% of all 315 drawings, and was last seen the previous Friday. Could the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern be trying to establish a “Friday streak” like it did last month? So, this Pattern didn’t appear on December 1st, but there are two Fridays left. Anything can happen!

Now with 40 appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in about 29% of the 138 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 315 drawings, this General Order has played 12.7% of the time. Prior to Friday, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order previously played on October 24th, 2017.

The 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order made its 14th appearance, and has now played alongside the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order 35% of the time. When looking at the 138 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, this Specific Order has played 10.1% of the time. Now looking at all 315 drawings, this Specific Order has played 4.44% of the time. We last saw the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order in the September 1st, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

This Combination made its debut in the January 5th, 2016 drawing.

Next week is the last week before Christmas. Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern dominate?

The 4-1-1 on Mega Millions

Time flies by, doesn’t it? With only a few weeks left in 2017, let’s take moment to reflect:

  • Another {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak happened over the summer.
  • A new system was implemented early last month. Instead of 75 “regular” balls and 15 Mega Balls, we now have 70 “regular” balls and 25 Mega Balls. We call the new system 70-25.

With this new system, there have been 314 drawings. Of those drawings, this is the first one to have the uncommonly-seen {4-1-1} Pattern.

General Lottery Analysis

The December 12th drawing saw winning numbers 8, 23, 24, 25, 27, and MB 9, bringing the number of appearances of the {4-1-1} to  seven.

Out came a rare Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played 2.23% of the time, and was last seen in the March 28th, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the {3-1-1-1} Pattern seen that night.

Tuesday night also saw the fourth appearance of the [1-4-1] General Order. This General Order has played in 57.1% of the seven drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 314 Mega Millions drawings, the [1-4-1] General Order has played in 1.27% of them. We last saw this General Order in the June 10th, 2016 drawing. This wasn’t reconfigured from anything.

The 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut! At least, in the 70-25 system. Under said system, this Specific Order has played in 25% of the four drawings where the [1-4-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 14.3% of the seven drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.32% of all drawings. The 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order did appear in the old 75-15 system, having been seen in the July 22nd, 2016 drawing. That Specific Order was reconfigured to 1 3 1 0 0 1 so it would comply with the 70-25 system.

Three Number Combination(s)

The rarely-seen {4-1-1} Pattern was accompanied by two repeating Three-Number Combinations.

  • 8, 24, 25 (Debuted July 22nd, 2016)

Will Friday’s drawing feature another rarely-seen Pattern?

Repeating Combination Bundle

The snowstorm has passed, leaving broken records, social media blow-ups, and power outages. Neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball broke any records December 9th. But, there were a few rumblings in the repeating Combinations department. We’ll get to those in a moment. First things first though: the analyses!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

One way to obtain “Most commonly played Pattern” status is to appear in streaks. That is, appearing in at least three consecutive drawings. Saturday’s drawing saw the {3-2-1} Pattern play for the third time in a row. This time, the winning numbers were 4, 5, 10, 21, 34, and 40, bringing the number of appearances up to 783.

The {3-2-1} Pattern was liked so much, it came back a 3rd time. Source: lotterytrend.com.

With 1506 Lotto Texas drawing so far, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 52% of the time.

Now with 134 appearances, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.1% of the 783 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 1506 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 8.90% of the time. Prior to Saturday night, the 3 2 1 Specific Order played in the November 4th, 2017 drawing.

Did Powerball see a Pattern encore Saturday night?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball didn’t see a Pattern encore. However, it too saw its most commonly played Pattern. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 82nd appearance with winning numbers 25, 36, 31, 55, 60, and PB 6.

Powerball could play the “Most Commonly Seen Pattern” game, too. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in roughly 36% of the 228 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the November 11th, 2017 drawing.

With its 22nd appearance, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played in 26.8% of the 82 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Looking at all 228 drawings, this General Order has played 9.65% of the time. We last saw the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order in the October 21st, 2017 drawing.

Now with five appearances, the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 22.7% of the 22 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 6.10% of the 82 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.19% of all 228 drawings. The 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played on April 22nd, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball saw a couple of repeating Three-Number Combinations, both debuting about three weeks apart:

Will there be more repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations in Wednesday’s drawing?

Around the Bonfire with Lotto Texas and Powerball

Our portion of Lottery Trend Country is still in the grips of winter. In fact, it’s so tight that the “s” word (that’s “snow”) was mentioned in the Houston weather forecast. As exciting as it all is, we’ll have to put it to the side.  Be it rain, heat, hail, or (possible) snow, Lotto Texas and Powerball held their drawings without issue on December 6th.  Lotto Texas greeted winter with a Pattern encore. Although Powerball saw no such thing, it wasn’t totally iced out of the numbers madness.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas liked the {3-2-1} Pattern so much that it decided to bring it back. This time, the winning numbers were 1, 25, 35, 42, 48, and 51.

With 1505 drawings so far, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played about 52% of the time.

Now with 143 appearances, the 1 2 3 Specific Order has played in 18.3% of the 782 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.50% of all 1505 drawings. We last saw the 1 2 3 Specific Order in the August 19th, 2017 drawing.

What was Powerball’s contribution to the numbers madness?

Not an encore. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 227 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 30.8% of the time. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern previously played in the November 25th, 2017 drawing.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 27th appearance. And, it has now played in 38.6% of the 70 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 227 drawings into account, this General Order has played 11.9% of the time. This General Order was last seen in the November 22nd, 2017 drawing.

Playing for the second time ever, the 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 7.41% of the 27 drawings where [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 2.86% of the 70 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.88% of all 227 drawings. The 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order made its debut in the January 21st, 2017 drawing.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern go for the three-peat? Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore?

A Playback and a Spread

The word “Uneventful” does not describe the night of December 2nd. This was the night of the playback, and the similar spread. Which lottery saw which event?

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 12, 15, 17, 31, 38, and 47, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 781st appearance.

Six numbers pack a lot of power. Source: lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has played in 51.9% of the 1504 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen November 25th, 2017.

Now with 145 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.6% of the 781 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in 9.64% of all 1504 drawings. And, it was seen alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in the November 25th drawing.

Because the {3-2-1} Pattern and the 3 1 2 Specific Order were seen together in a previous drawing, we here at Lottery Binge call this a playback.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Lotto Texas thought the playback was enough. There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 43rd appearance, with winning numbers 28, 30, 32, 36, 58, and PB 6.

These numbers ruled the night. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 226 Powerball drawings so far, this Pattern has played about 19% of the time. It was last seen in the November 15th, 2017 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order has now played 14 times, and has thus appeared in 32.6% of the 43 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has played 6.19% of the time when looking at all 226 drawings. Prior to Saturday, this General Order played in the September 23rd, 2017 drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 28.6% of the 14 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.30% of the 43 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} pattern appeared. Finally, when looking at all 226 Powerball drawings, the 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has played 1.77% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order in the May 24th, 2017 drawing.

Similar Spread

It just so happens that Powerball also saw a similar spread. The spread was shared with the numbers in the February 18th, 2017 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 3, 7, 9, 31, 33, and PB 20. The spread was 04:02:22:02. The spread for Saturday’s numbers was 02:02:04:22. Remember that with similar spreads, the numbers in the spreads are the same, but their orders are different.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There was also one lone repeating Three-Number Combination: 32, 36, and 58.

Not even six months and it shows up again. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

It wasn’t that long ago that this Combination made its debut. More specifically, it was the June 24th, 2017 drawing.

Will either Pattern make an encore presentation in Wednesday’s drawing? Will there be more similar spreads?

December Comes to Mega Millions

Can you believe it? We made it to December! With all the insanity going on in the “real world”, we can count on Mega Millions to be one of many trusty avenues of escape. One thing that makes Mega Millions fun to analyze is that it likes to shake things up. November was “The Month of {2-1-1-1-1}”. That Pattern was the first and last Pattern to play. Did {2-1-1-1-1} become the Pattern to start December?

General Lottery Analysis

It turns out that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern did not make an encore. The honor of starting December was handed to the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 16, 22, 40, 41, 59, and MB 8, this Pattern made its 88th appearance.

Changing it up a bit. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

As of December 1st, there have been 311 Mega Millions drawings. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 28.3% of the time, and was last seen in the November 21st, 2017 drawing.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 32nd appearance. This has now played in 36.4% of the 88 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 311 drawings, this General Order has played 10.3% of the time. The [2-2-1-1] General Order accompanied the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in the November 21st drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 12.5% of the 32 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.55% of the 88 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.29% of all 311 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the September 15th, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 0 2 2 1 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Three Number Combination(s)

Even without the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern taking the reins, Mega Millions got December started with three repeating Three-Number Combinations:

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Tuesday’s drawing, or does Mega Millions have another gift in mind?

Full Pattern Revolution

November 28th was the last Mega Millions drawing for the month. And wouldn’t you know it? The ever-so-lovable {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore! Pattern streaks? Showing up on every Friday of the month? Those are well and good. But, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern outdid itself, adding “Finishing the month the way it started” to its list of accomplishments.

Now that we’re done gushing over this Pattern, let’s get to the analysis, shall we?

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 17, 47, 51, 61, and MB 5, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 135th appearance.

November started, and ended, with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 310 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.5% of the time.

Now with 36 appearances, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in roughly 26.7% of the 135 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. And, it has appeared in 11.6% of all 310 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order played November 10th, 2017.

Making its seventh appearance was the 1 1 0 2 1 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 19.4% of the 36 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.19% of the 135 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared. Finally, when taking all 310 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 2.26% of the time. We last saw the 1 1 0 2 1 1 Specific Order in the December 11th, 2015 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Four Number Combination(s)

Of course, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern wasn’t going to settle for appearing in the first and last drawings of November. True to this Pattern’s fashion, it’s “Go big or go home.” There was in fact a repeating Four-Number Combination:

Numbers to Go

Another Thanksgiving weekend has come and gone. People took to the skies and roads once again on November 25th, wanting to beat the mad rush home that would surely await them if they left Sunday. Lotto Texas sent along a playback. That is, both the Pattern and Specific Order were seen together on a previous date. Meanwhile, Powerball ran into a Pattern encore.

This Pattern has played in 51.9% of the 1502 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen on November 8th, 2017.

Now with 144 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.5% of the 780 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.59% of all 1502 drawings. As is the nature of a playback, this Specific Order accompanied the {3-2-1} Pattern November 8th. Note that a playback is not an Australia Play. Remember that with the latter, both the Pattern and the Specific Order would be the same. For Lotto Texas, that would be the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order, respectively.

Here’s a good rule of thumb to abide by: All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Making its fourth appearance was the 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order.  This Specific Order has now played in 17.4% of the 23 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in roughly 5.8% of the 69 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, when taking all 224 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 1.79% of the time. Friday Belongs to {2-1-1-1-1}

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern likes to shake things up in Mega Millions. Its (in)famous Pattern streaks are part of how it became the most commonly seen Pattern. After the results of the November 24th drawing, we can now add Friday nights to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern’s domain. This may be the first time in Lottery Binge’s history that we’ve covered a Pattern that has played on a certain day of the week.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 16, 36, 54, 61, 64, and MB 22, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 134 times.

This Pattern has played in 43.4% of the 309 Mega Millions drawings under the 70-25 system. We last saw it in the November 17th, 2017 drawing.

Making its 32nd appearance was the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order. This has now played in 23.9% of the 134 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 309 drawings, this General Order has played 10.4% of the time. The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order was seen alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in the November 17th drawing.

We reconfigured this from the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order that was seen that night.

A Night of Wednesdays Past

First, we would like to wish our U.S. readers a Happy Thanksgiving. May the pigskin fly and the turkey be bountiful.

Some things rest for no man, and lottery drawings are some of those things. Lotto Texas and Powerball flipped the script November 22nd. There weren’t any Pattern encores, but, each lottery’s Pattern was last seen on a previous Wednesday in November. There was another switch-up, but you’ll have to keep reading to find out what it was.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas contributed to the holiday spirit with the not-so-commonly seen {4-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers, 7, 22, 24, 33, 34, and 50, this Pattern has now played 166 times.

Six numbers and an uncommon Pattern. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Given that there have been 1501 drawings so far, this Pattern has played 11.1% of the time. We last saw it exactly one week ago in the November 15th, 2017 drawing.

On a more specific note, the 1 4 1 Specific Order made its 57th appearance. This has now played in 34.3% of the 166 drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared. And, it has played in 3.80% of all 1501 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this Specific Order previously played on November 11th, 2017.

Four-Number Combination(s)

In what may be a shocking twist, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 35, 37, 46, 51, 61, and PB 13, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played in 68 of the 223 Powerball drawings.

Making its fourth appearance was the 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order. This has played in 15.4% of the 26 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. When taking the 68 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, this Specific Order has played 5.88% of the time. Finally, when looking at all 223 drawings, this Specific Order has played 1.79% of the time. The 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the June 28th, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)
