Chilly Guide to Mega Millions

A snowstorm is making its way across the northern United States. Lottery Trend headquarters is contending with a blustery day and dropping temperatures. All this and more to say one thing:

Winter is here.

One way you can beat those winter blues is by, you guessed it, playing Mega Millions! What better night than a Friday, yes? The January 18th, 2019 drawing, unlike our weather, was largely uneventful. The grand prize was unclaimed and now stands at $82 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 2, 43, 48, 62, 64, and MB 24, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 122nd appearance.

Will Mega Millions continue its chilled disposition Tuesday’s drawing, or will things warm up?

Restoring the Powerball “Order”

Amazing how much difference a few days can make! Last time, it was Lotto Texas that claimed the night. On January 16th, 2019, things went back to “normal”. That is, Powerball once more became the dominant one. There were a couple of commonalities between them, however. One was rising jackpots. These prizes increased to $5.25 million for Lotto Texas and $129 million for Powerball. The other was Pattern encores.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Will either of these commonly seen Patterns go for the three-peat Saturday night?

Watch Out for the Quiet One

We’ve all been warned at some time or another to “Beware the quiet ones.” Based on our analysis, the resident “quiet one” is Lotto Texas. Although its prizes don’t achieve the monstrous sizes we’ve seen in Mega Millions and Powerball, it presents itself in a respectable manner. After all, claiming a $12.5 million prize is nothing to be down about.

January 12th, 2019 was the night that, in an uncharacteristic moment, it was unrestrained. In fact, Lotto Texas ruled the night! There was more—far more—to Saturday night than someone winning. Describing it here in the introduction would be a grave injustice!

Keeping up with this flip-flopped scenario, Powerball was the one keeping to itself. Its prize rose to $112 million with little fanfare.

Case of the Pattern Streak Blocker

Even with the days slowly getting longer, we’re still in the dead of winter. January is notorious for its being considered a boring month. Add to that the cold and the snowstorms, it’s no wonder we’re eager for spring to come! In the meantime, we’ll have to use good ol’ entertainment like, oh, Mega Millions to keep us going.

The January 11th drawing saw the dream of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak freeze over. The fallout was a grand prize of $55 million and something that hadn’t been seen in nearly five years!

Five years may not seem like a lot, especially in comparison to some other lotteries, but this a milestone in Mega Millions!

Will Mega Millions keep with the tone of the month so far and stay low-key or will things get crazy in the week ahead?

Far from the Madness

This past Saturday and January 9th, 2019 were worlds apart. On Saturday, we saw repeating Four-Number Combinations in both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Wednesday…was not like that. The lotteries took a subtler approach; no encores, no fireworks. Their respective grand prizes rose quietly to $12.5 million and $96 million. But, as (comparatively) quiet as things were, Wednesday night was far from boring!

On the Eighth Day Was Calmness

January 8th marked exactly one week since 2019 started, and it just so happened to be a Mega Millions night. With no grand prize winner, the prize inched upwards to $50 million. Although it’ll be a while yet before a monster jackpot comes stomping through, Tuesday night was anything but uneventful.

Meanwhile, the grand prizes for Lotto Texas and Powerball went unclaimed; the jackpots are now $11.75 million and $82 million, respectively.

If Saturday night was anything to go by, 2019 looks to be an interesting year in the lottery world! Will either the {2-2-1-1} Pattern or the {3-2-1} Pattern make an appearance Wednesday night? Could another Four-Number Combination rear its head in Powerball?

Sobering Up the Mega Millions Way

The holidays are over, and everyone is trickling back into their “normal” routines. After the New Year’s Day drawing, it’ll be a while yet before Mega Millions sees another monster on the horizon. Still, $45 million is nothing to sneeze at! The January 4th, 2019 drawing saw a visit from the most commonly seen Pattern and a major throwback.

New York’s New Year’s Charm

First, a Happy 2019 to all you readers out there. Can you believe that the second decade of the 21st century is almost over? Just one more year (two if you count 2020) to go!

Speaking of the new year, New York City’s Times Square is said to be one of the hottest spots to ring in the new year. After the January 1st Mega Million’s drawing, “Lottery Charmer” can be another thing the city is known for. Right after Christmas, a Powerball winner was crowned in Brooklyn. Tuesday night saw a Long Islander ring in the new year with a whopping $425 million!

As is tradition, the grand prize decreased to a respectable $40 million.

Gift of the Powerball

Lotto Texas and Powerball were like the Northern and Southern Hemispheres December 26th. They were polar opposites (no pun intended)! While it’s winter in New York City, it’s summertime in Sydney.

Speaking of New York City, Powerball gifted one player from Brooklyn with $298.4 million! That brought the jackpot down to a more “respectable” $40 million. Lotto Texas, ever the classy one, saw its jackpot ease on upward to $10 million.
