Common Things

“Common” was the surface theme of the evening for June 17th. Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their most commonly played Patterns. Powerball’s Pattern play was also an encore this time around. Of course, there’s more to the story. Lotto Texas had two repeating Four-Number Combinations, and Powerball had one repeating Three-Number Combination.

Lotto Texas

Now with 756 appearances, the {3-2-1} Pattern showed no signs of being upstaged by another Pattern. The winning numbers Saturday night were 3, 4, 6, 23, 34, and 54.

This Pattern has played in 51.9% of the 1456 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen in the June 10th drawing one week prior.

Making its 131st appearance, the 3 2 1 Pattern has played in 17.3% of the 756 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared, and in 8.997% of all 1456 drawings. This Specific Order previously played in the March 22nd, 2017 drawing.

The Four-Number Combinations of the evening were

  • 3, 4, 23, 34 (Debuted November 29th, 2014) and
  • 3, 6, 23, 34 (Debuted July 31st, 2002)

Once again, the range of Four-Number Combination dates ranged from the era of smartphones all the way back to the era of Blockbuster and Napster.

Powerball

Right off the heels of this past Wednesday’s drawing, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made another appearance. This time around, the winning numbers were 10, 13, 32, 53, 62, and PB 21, bringing the total number of appearances to 65.

This Pattern has played in 36.5% of the 178 Powerball drawings.

The [2-1-1-1-1] General Order made its fourteenth appearance, and has now played in 21.5% of the 65 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 7.87% of all 178 drawings. Unlike the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order did not make an encore. In fact, this General Order was last seen in the June 3rd drawing exactly two weeks prior.

Making its third appearance, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 21.4% of the 14 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 4.62% of the 65 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 1.69% of all 178 drawings, and was last seen over a year ago. More specifically, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the February 10th, 2016 drawing.

The Three-Number Combination of the evening was 10, 13, and PB 21, and it made its debut in the March 16th, 2016 drawing.

The next Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings will take place on the summer solstice (or winter solstice for any readers in the Southern Hemisphere). How will Lotto Texas and Powerball mark the occasion? Will a Pattern streak be established with the most commonly seen Patterns, or will things mellow out?

The Common Denominator

Lotto Texas and Powerball dived into the June pool and they found common ground in Saturday night’s drawing. Both lotteries saw their most commonly played Patterns, and furthermore, these were encores! Powerball took it to another level and went into three-peat territory. Combination-wise, Lotto Texas saw repeating Four-Number Combinations. Powerball, on the other hand, didn’t see any repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Lotto Texas

With its 753rd appearance, the {3-2-1} Pattern remained the most commonly played. The June 3rd drawing marked the occasion with winning numbers 1, 9, 17, 23, 53, and 54.

This Pattern has now played in 51.9% of the 1452 Lotto Texas drawings.

Making its 137th appearance, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has now played in 18.2% of the 753 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.44% of all Lotto Texas drawings. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, this Specific Order was last seen in the May 20th drawing just a few weeks ago.

The repeating Four-Number Combinations of the evening were

  • 1, 9, 23, 54 (Debuted April 9th, 2014) and
  • 9, 17, 53, 54 (Debuted November 8th, 2006)

One of the amazing things about repeating Four-Number Combinations is the range of their debut dates. As you can see from the dates above, these Combinations debuted anywhere from the early days of YouTube to a period where smartphones were everywhere.

Powerball

As mentioned earlier, Powerball also saw its most commonly seen Pattern make an encore appearance. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was represented by winning numbers 3, 9, 21, 41, 54, and PB 25.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 36.2% of the 174 Powerball drawings. Prior to Saturday, and May 31st, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was seen in the May 27th drawing.

With thirteen appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 20.6% of the 63 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.47% of all Powerball drawings. This General Order was last seen in the May 27th drawing.

The 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order made its third appearance, and has now played in 23.1% of the 13 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This statistic becomes 4.76% when looking at the 63 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.72% of all drawings. This Specific Order hasn’t been seen in a while; the last time it appeared was in the December 17th, 2016 drawing.

Will the Patterns continue to be joined at the hip in the week ahead, or will other Patterns appear? Will a Specific Order make its debut?

Leaving May in 3-2-1

The month of May ended with Lotto Texas and Powerball, and what an ending it was! Both lotteries saw their most commonly played Patterns, and Lotto Texas got in a couple of repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Lotto Texas

With 752 appearances, the {3-2-1} Pattern is second-to-none in Lotto Texas. The winning numbers for May 31st were 11, 26, 33, 40, 47, and 53.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now played in 51.8% of the 1451 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen in the May 20th drawing.

The Specific Order of the evening was 1 2 3, making its 138th appearance. This has appeared in 18.4% of the 752 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.51% of all drawings. Prior to Wednesday, the 1 2 3 Specific Order previously played in the April 26th, 2017 drawing.

The repeating Four-Number Combinations of the evening were

  • 26, 40, 47, and 53 (Debuted May 18th, 2016) and
  • 26, 33, 47, and 53 (Debuted March 23rd, 2011)
Repeating Four-Number Combinations are highlighted in red. From lotterytrend.com.

Powerball

Right off the heels of this past Saturday’s drawing, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore! The winning numbers were 4, 33, 39, 46, 60, and PB 6.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

With 62 appearances, this Pattern remains the most commonly seen in Powerball, and has played in 35.8% of the 173 drawings.

Making its 17th appearance, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played in 27.4% of the 62 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.83% of all Powerball drawings. Prior to Wednesday, this General Order was last seen in the April 22nd, 2017 drawing.

Powerball didn’t see any repeating Three-Number Combinations, so the grand finale of the evening was the fifth appearance of the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has played in 29.4% of the 17 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, 8.06% of the 62 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.89% of all 173 drawings. The 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the April 1st drawing.

Will these Patterns make an encore in Saturday night’s drawing?

Ain’t No Party Like a Combo Party

Saturday nights for Lotto Texas and Powerball are usually busy, and May 20th was one of those nights. Repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations was the theme, and both lotteries got to take part. The debut dates ranged from just last month to the beginning of the millennium*!

*Or end of the millennium, depending on who you ask.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 751st appearance with winning numbers 8, 9, 15, 20, 38, and 39.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern remains the most commonly seen in Lotto Texas, now appearing in 51.9% of the 1448 Lotto Texas drawings. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern was last seen a few weeks ago in the April 26th drawing.

Making its 136th appearance, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has now played in 18.1% of the 751 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.39% of all Lotto Texas drawings. This Specific Order previously played in the March 18th, 2017 drawing.

The grandest part of Saturday night’s drawing was the repeat appearances of four Four-Number Combinations!

  • 15, 20, 38, 39 (Debuted April 19th, 2008)
  • 8, 15, 38, 39 (Debuted July 29th, 2009)
  • 8, 9, 15, 39 (Debuted September 23rd, 2000*)
  • 9, 15, 20, 39 (Debuted April 8th, 2009)

Lotto Texas saw plenty of repeating Combination action. Did Powerball see just as much?

Powerball

With winning numbers 5, 22, 45, 47, 54, and PB 3, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 32nd appearance.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 18.8% of the 170 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the April 29th drawing.

Now with 13 appearances, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in roughly 40.63% of the 32 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.65% of all Powerball drawings. This General Order previously played in the April 5th drawing.

The 1 1 0 3 0 1 Specific Order made its second appearance. With that said, this Specific Order has played in 15.4% of the 13 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared, 6.25% of the 32 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.18% of all drawings. Interestingly, this Specific Order made its debut in the same April 5th drawing that the [1-1-3-1] General Order was last seen.

The repeating Three-Number Combination was 5,22,45, fresh off the heels of its debut just last month in the April 15th drawing.

Lone repeating Three-Number Combination. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Powerball may not have seen as much in the way of repeating Combinations, but it’s not often that the General Order and the Specific Order share the same “last seen” date.

With the drumbeats of summer vacation growing ever louder in Lottery Trend Country, what will the week ahead have in store? Will there be more repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations or will there be a mellowing out. Memorial Day is around the corner, after all.

Stirring the Pot

From having a (deceptive) Australia Play to repeating Three-Number Combinations, Mega Millions took a different route in the May 19th drawing. An uncommonly seen Pattern surfaced, and this Pattern had previously played with the General Order of the evening. There was also a Specific Order that played for the first time in almost two years.

The {3-2-1} Pattern played for the 24th time on Friday night, with winning numbers 1, 4, 5, 24, 30, and MB 1.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern previously played in the April 21st drawing almost exactly one month prior, and has played in 6.42% of the 374 Mega Millions drawings.

Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, the [3-2-1] General Order previously played in the April 21st drawing. This General Order has now played 12 times, appearing in half of the drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. The [3-2-1] General Order has also played in 3.21% of all 374 drawings.

Making its second appearance, the 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played in approximately 16.67% of the 12 drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order appeared, and in roughly 8.33% of the 24 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared. This Specific Order has also appeared in 0.53% of all 374 drawings. The 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the June 2nd, 2015 drawing.

If one were to look at the Pattern and the General Order, one would be tempted to think that an Australia Play had taken place. Not only did they feature the same numbers (3-2-1), they also played together before. But, if one were to look at the Specific Order, this can’t be an Australia Play. After all, there’s no such thing as a 3 2 1 Specific Order in Mega Millions! The 3 2 1 Specific Order exists only for Lotto Texas.

As for repeating Three-Number Combinations, there were none on Friday night.

Will next week feature a true Australia Play?

Unicorn Sighting

There have been, ahem, unicorn sightings on Instagram and other social media outlets. Of course, I’m talking about the Unicorn Frappuccino, the brightly-colored drink that has sent baristas into rages and has been called, in some circles, “Diabetes in a cup”.

The elusive unicorn, in all its splendor. Credit to Starbucks.

No, I was unable to catch this unicorn; it sold out in a matter of hours. But, there was a unicorn sighting, of sorts, in April 21st’s Mega Millions drawing. It isn’t often that the Pattern and the General Order and the Specific Order were last seen together on the same date!

Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, the {3-2-1} Pattern isn’t commonly seen in Mega Millions. Friday night’s winning numbers were 1, 12, 13, 32, 34, and MB 10.

Winning Mega Millions numbers.

With 23 appearances, this Pattern has now played in 6.28% of the 366 drawings.

Making its 11th appearance, the [3-2-1] General Order has played in 47.8% of the 23 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also appeared in 3.01% of all 366 drawings.

Finally, the 3 0 2 0 0 1 Specific Order made its second appearance. This Specific Order has now played in approximately 18.2% of the 11 drawings where the [3-2-1] Pattern has appeared, 8.70% of the 23 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.55% of all Mega Millions drawings.

Of course, I’ve saved the best for last. Friday night’s Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order were all last seen in the December 16th, 2016 drawing.

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Friday night.

As the unicorn hype dies down, will Mega Millions see other rare Patterns get to play?

Golden Explosion

The night before Easter was a busy one, with Lotto Texas seeing the lion’s share of the action. There was a Pattern encore, and a repeat appearance of a Five-Number Combination. The last time such an occurrence was covered on our blog was over six months ago. Talk about uncommon!

Lotto Texas

Right off the heels of Wednesday’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 748th appearance in the April 15th drawing. The winning numbers were 2, 11, 36, 40, 42, and 53.

Winning Lotto Texas numbers.

This reigning Pattern has now played in 52% of the 1438 Lotto Texas drawings so far.

Making its 111th appearance, the 2 1 3 Specific Order has now played in 14.8% of the 748 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This statistic becomes 7.72% when taking all 1438 drawings into account. Prior to Saturday, this Specific Order previously played in the January 28th, 2017 drawing.

The big draw of the evening was the repeat appearance of the Five-Number Combination 2, 36, 40, 42, and 53.

Five-Number Combination highlighted in red box.

Now, the key thing to remember when dealing with a Five-Number Combination is that there are five Four-Number Combinations that repeat as well. The Combinations were as follows:

  1. ) 36, 40, 42, 53
  2. ) 2, 40, 42, 53
  3. ) 2, 36, 42, 53
  4. ) 2, 36 50, 53
  5. ) 2, 36, 40, 42
The resulting Four-Number Combinations (blue box)

All of the above Combinations made their debut in the August 28th, 2002 drawing. To put things in perspective, Wikipedia was in its infancy and cell phones were becoming more affordable. Smart phones? Forget about ‘em.

 Powerball

In contrast to Lotto Texas, Powerball didn’t see any repeating Combinations, nor did its {3-2-1} Pattern make an encore. Wouldn’t that have been something? However, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern retained its position as the most commonly seen Pattern. The 57th appearance was marked by winning numbers 5, 22, 26, 45, 61, and PB 13.

Winning Powerball numbers.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 35.625% of the 160 Powerball drawings, and previously played in the April 8th drawing exactly one week prior.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 15th appearance, and has now played in 26.3% of the 57 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 160 drawings, this statistic becomes 9.375%. This General Order was seen two weeks prior in the April 1st drawing. No foolin’.

Last, and certainly not least, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its third appearance. This Specific Order has played in 20% of the 15 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order appeared, 5.26% of the 57 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and 1.875% of all 160 drawings. Prior to Saturday, the last time the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order was seen was in the May 7th, 2016 drawing.

Will Powerball grab a piece of the action in the week ahead, or will Lotto Texas continue to be the most active?

Mirror, Mirror

Lotto Texas and Powerball mirrored each other the night of April 12th. If you were to look at just the Patterns, they were identical. If you were to take a deeper look, then you’d notice the many differences. One such difference is that this Pattern is very common in Lotto Texas, not so much in Powerball.

For those of you just tuning in to this humble blog (or need a reminder), the Lottery Trend analysis team never takes things at the surface level.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern continued to dwarf all other Lotto Texas Patterns in the appearance department, with 747 to date. The winning numbers on Wednesday night were 5, 26, 30, 31, 46, and 54.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers.

This Pattern has now played in approximately 52% of the 1437 drawings, and was last seen in the April 5th drawing exactly one week ago.

Making its 112th appearance, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has played in 15% of the 747 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 7.79% of all 1437 drawings. Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, the 1 3 2 Specific Order previously played on April 5th.

As for repeating Four-Number Combinations, there were none to speak of.

Powerball

In contrast to Lotto Texas’s {3-2-1} Pattern, Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern isn’t very common at all. Having just made its seventh appearance last night, it’s one of the least commonly seen Patterns. The winning numbers were 8, 14, 61, 63, 68, and PB 24.

Winning Powerball numbers.

This Pattern has now played in 4.40% of the 159 Powerball drawings, and previously played in the February 18th, 2017 drawing.

Now with five appearances, the [2-3-1] General Order has played in approximately 71.4% of the seven drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all the Powerball drawings into account, this statistic becomes 3.14%. The [2-3-1] General Order was last seen in the January 25th, 2017 drawing.

Since there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations, let’s end the Powerball coverage with the debut of Specific Order 2 0 0 0 3 1. This Specific Order has now played in 20% of the five drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared, as well as about 14.3% of the seven drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. When considering all 159 drawings, this stat becomes 0.63%.

What was just discussed in this evening’s post was in fact covered once before here on Lottery Binge. It’s not often that the Patterns for both Lotteries would be the same! Now, with the next drawings being held the day before Easter, will there be golden eggs?

No Foolin’

April is now in full swing and another Wednesday has come and gone. The results from Lotto Texas and Powerball showed that April 5th was far from a quiet night. Lotto Texas saw most of the excitement, but don’t count Powerball out!

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made an encore appearance, with winning numbers 8, 20, 21, 26, 51, and 52.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers.

With 746 appearances, this Pattern continues to leave all other Lotto Texas Patterns in the dust. As of Wednesday, it has played in roughly 52% of the 1435 drawings. Recall that the {3-2-1} Pattern previously played in Saturday’s drawing.

The 1 3 2 Specific Order made its 111th appearance. Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, this Specific Order was also last seen this past Saturday. With that said, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has now played in 14.9% of the 746 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.74% of all Lotto Texas drawings.

Although there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations, we saw not one, but two similar spreads in Wednesday’s drawing. One of these similar spreads was 05:01:01:12:25, and the winning numbers for the night of April 4th, 2007 were 8, 13, 14, 15, 27, and 52. Another similar spread came in the form of 05:12:01:01:25 on February 16th, 2008. The winning numbers were 9, 14, 26, 27, 28, and 53. Given that the winning numbers from Wednesday night were 8, 20, 21, 26, 51, and 52, the spread was 12:01:05:25:01.  As is the nature of similar spreads, the differences between numbers in these drawings were the same, but the orders were different.

What antics did Powerball get up to?

Powerball

Compared to Lotto Texas, Powerball was much calmer. There were no similar spreads, nor were there repeating Three-Number Combinations. Even so, that didn’t stop the debut of a new Specific Order.

Wednesday’s drawing marked the 29th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 8, 20, 46, 53, 54, and PB 13.

Winning Powerball numbers.

This Pattern has now played in 18.5% of the 157 Powerball drawings and was last seen in the March 4th drawing, which was a little more than a month ago.

Next, the [1-1-3-1] General Order made its 12th appearance, its first since the February 15th, 2017 drawing. This General Order has now played in 41.4% of the 29 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.64% of all drawings.

Our Lottery Trend analysis/recap for Powerball concludes with the debut of the 1 1 0 3 0 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 8.33% of the 12 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared, 3.45% of the 29 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.64% of all drawings.

Looking ahead to Saturday, will another Specific Order make its debut? Will the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas go for a three-peat appearance?

Two Rounds of 3-2-1

Although we saw no repeating Four-Number (Lotto Texas) or Three-Number Combinations (Powerball) on February 18th, the pre-Mardi Gras momentum kept going. Powerball saw a General Order that hadn’t played in almost a year and a new Specific Order. Although Powerball had most of the momentum, there was one moment it got to share with Lotto Texas. That moment was the Pattern.

Lotto Texas

For the 739th time, the {3-2-1} Pattern played with winning numbers 5, 11, 14, 21, 38, and 44.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now played in 52% of the 1422 Lotto Texas drawings. Additionally, the {3-2-1} Pattern remains the most commonly seen Pattern by a wide margin. We last saw this Pattern earlier this month in the February 1st drawing.

The Specific Order of the evening was 3 1 2, making its 134th appearance. This Specific Order has played in 18.1% of the 739 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.42% of all drawings. Prior to Saturday, we last saw the 3 1 2 Specific Order play in the January 11th, 2017 drawing.

Powerball

Just as in Lotto Texas, the {3-2-1} Pattern played. The winning numbers were 3, 7, 9, 31, 33, and PB 20.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, this is one of the least commonly seen Patterns in Powerball. Now with six appearances, Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern has played in approximately 4.17% of the 144 drawings. This Pattern was last seen in the January 25th, 2017 drawing.

The [3-2-1] General Order made its second appearance, its first since the March 16th, 2016 drawing. As of Saturday, this General Order has played in 33.3% of the six drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.39% of all drawings.

The biggest development of the evening was the debut of the 3 0 2 0 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in half of the two drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order has appeared, approximately 16.7% of the six drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.69% of all drawings.

Will other rarely-seen Patterns appear in the week ahead? Will other Specific Orders make their debut?
