Time for a Break

Spring Break is in full swing in the Houston area! The weather has been nice, with mild temperatures and sunny days. It’s news like this that remind us down in these parts that it’s (technically) still winter. March 13th saw the start of March Madness and Mega Millions did a complete 180 from what we saw last time.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern took the reins with winning numbers 6, 30, 58, 60, 61, and MB 17.

Three Number Combination(s)

Tuesday night was a break indeed! There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Friday’s drawing?

Seeing Double

It’s not often that the same Pattern plays across two lotteries at once! Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw the same Pattern on March 10, 2018. But, due to the nature of each lottery, this was where all similarities ended. Our analysis showed them going onto wildly divergent paths.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 5, 15, 27, 32, 36, and 46, has now played 796 times.

Now with 130 appearances, the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played in 16.3% of the 796 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 8.49% of all 1532 drawings and was last seen at the beginning of the year. More specifically, the January 3, 2018 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were also two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 15, 27, 36, 46 (Debuted May 8, 2002)
  • 5, 15, 27, 36 (Debuted March 22, 2017)

The {3-2-1} Pattern is the most commonly seen Pattern in Lotto Texas. This isn’t the case in Powerball.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Unlike Lotto Texas, the {3-2-1} Pattern in Powerball is one of the least commonly seen Patterns. Its 16th appearance was thanks to winning numbers 43, 44, 54, 61, 69, and PB 22.

Out of the 254 Powerball drawings, this {3-2-1} Pattern has played in 6.30% of them and was last seen on February 3, 2018.

One highlight of the evening was the debut of the 0 0 0 3 2 1 Specific Order. This General Order has played in roughly 16.7% of the six drawings where the General Order was [3-2-1], and in 6.25% of the 16 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Will either, or both, of these {3-2-1} Patterns make an encore in Wednesday’s drawing?

The Madness of King {2-1-1-1-1}

This weekend is going to be a big one! Spring Break is (technically) here for students in the Houston area. As to why Spring Break is in the middle of March instead of around Easter? It’s like trying to find the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop.

In the world of college sports, the selection process for the NCAA men’s basketball teams is Sunday, with the women’s selection on Monday. Of course, to get to the weekend, we must get through Friday night first.

A three-peat for the {2-2-1-1} Pattern wasn’t in the cards on March 9th drawing. The King of Mega Millions Patterns kicked off the weekend instead.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 7, 17, 18, 46, 66, and MB 22, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 147 times.

Only {2-1-1-1-1} was mad enough to handle it. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Prior to Friday night, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the February 6th, 2018 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

What with March Madness right around the corner, it wouldn’t just be enough for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern to appear, would it? There were two repeating Three-Number Combinations, one of which has played twice before!

With March Madness officially starting on March 13th (on a Tuesday, no less), will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore?

Another Round of Meat Pie

Meat pie!? What does that have to do with lottery analysis? It just so happened that March 7th saw another Australia Play. That, and there’s more to Australian cuisine than Vegemite. As one lottery saw the ultimate playback Wednesday night, another was this close to hopping on the Playback Express.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Having just recently played this past Saturday, the Australia Play came back for an encore. This time, the winning numbers were 9, 16, 25, 32, 41, and 44.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Will Saturday’s drawing have another Australia Play?

How ‘Bout Them Encores?

Encores! It’s always nice when these guys pop up. If the Pattern you played last time shows up again, the first thing that probably comes to mind is “Woo hoo! Second chance!” Of course, it’s never that simple (C’mon! If you’ve been reading this blog, you know it’s not). Anyway, a Pattern encore came roaring through in the March 6th Mega Millions drawing. But, that wasn’t the only thing that got caught in the encore web.

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of Friday night, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 97th appearance, with winning numbers 1, 4, 26, 35, 39, and MB 22.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern and [2-1-2-1] General Order stick together for a Friday night encore?

Bounded Together

Lotto Texas and Powerball are stuck together. That’s just the way it is. Every Wednesday and Saturday, they do their thing, and we do our thing by bringing you analysis. Last summer, we saw that these lotteries can be stuck together in other ways. March 3rd saw a shade of that.

Will the {2-2-2} Pattern and {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore together in Wednesday’s drawing?

In Like a {2-2-1-1}

Ah, March. Spring is coming soon, if it’s not here already, and there are many things to look forward to:

And of course, more Mega Millions coverage. Once again, it had the honor of kicking off a month (see February). Although March 2nd was quieter than what we saw lately, it wasn’t a sleepy night.

General Lottery Analysis

Friday night saw the 96th appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 24, 28, 42, 60, 64, and MB 8.

Could it be that Mega Millions kicked off the month with a playback? Let’s see what the Specific Order did.

With two appearances, the 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has now played in 6.90% of the 29 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1].  This Specific Order has also played in 2.08% of the 96 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 0.59% of all 337 drawings. A playback wasn’t meant to be. The 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order made its debut in the March 27, 2015 drawing. This was reconfigured from the  0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order seen that night, and the winning numbers were 17, 21, 36, 58, 70, and MB 3.

Will Tuesday’s drawing feature a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore?

Play That Back

Lotto Texas and Powerball had the honor of playing on February 28, 2018. The month ended with one word: “playback”. In fact, our February analysis for Lotto Texas and Powerball kicked off with not one playback, but two. Which lottery, or lotteries, ended the month the way it started?

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 1, 5, 18, 39, 45, and 52, bringing the number of appearances of the {3-3} Pattern up to 129.

A playback could be here, somewhere. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Given that there have been 1529 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 8.44% of the time. We last saw this Pattern in the December 27, 2017 drawing.

The 3 0 3 Specific Order, now with 50 appearances, has played in 38.8% of the 129 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. And, it was seen alongside the {3-3} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned December 27th drawing. When looking at all 1529 drawings, this Specific Order has played 3.27% of the time.

Before moving on to the repeating Four-Number Combination(s) coverage, we would like to point out the Specific Order. Note that even though Lotto Texas saw a playback, it did not see an Australia Play. The 3 0 3 Specific Order was not the only one that could have played.

Four-Number Combination(s)

The repeating Four-Number Combinations of the evening were

  • 1, 18, 45, 52 (Debuted August 18, 2001)
  • 5, 18, 45, 52 (Debuted April 30, 2003)

Although neither went as far as what we saw last time, a near seventeen-year gap is impressive. Was Powerball also bit by the playback bug?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

With wining numbers 12, 30, 59, 65, 69, and PB 16, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern played for the 52nd time.

Out of the 251 Powerball drawings to date, this Pattern has played in 20.7% of them, and was last seen a week ago in the February 21, 2021  drawing.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order, now with 23 appearances, has played in 44.2% of the 52 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Taking all 251 drawings into account, this General Order has played 9.16% of the time. The [1-1-3-1] General Order was also seen in the February 21st drawing.

Did the Specific Order allow for a playback in Powerball, too?

The 1 0 1 0 3 1 Specific Order made its second appearance and has now played in 8.70% of the 23 drawings where [1-1-3-1] was the General Order. The 1 0 1 0 3 1 Specific Order made its debut in the July 15, 2017 drawing.

There weren’t any repeating Three-Number Combinations, either.

Will March see more playback madness?
