The Wednesday Night Thaw

To start today’s post, here are a couple of facts about Australia:

  1. It’s the only country that’s also a continent.
  2. It’s one of the warmest spots on the planet right now.

Seeing how it’s almost summer down there, it’s fitting that an Australia Play was seen on December 13, 2017. Biggest play of the night, in fact. The appearance of the most commonly seen Pattern, an encore at that, was a big play, don’t get us wrong. It’s just that more happened in the lottery that saw the Australia Play.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas had the honor of hosting the Australia Play for the 204th time! Wednesday’s winning numbers were 12, 14, 19, 34, 39, and 47.

Now with there being 1507 Lotto Texas drawings, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played 13.5% of the time. An Australia Play was last seen November 29, 2017.

Similar Spread

This Australia Play saw a spread of 02:05:15:05:08, which was like the spread on May 8, 2010. That night, the spread was 02:08:15:05:05, and the winning numbers were 12, 14, 22, 37, 42, 47. What makes this a similar spread is that even though the numbers in the spreads are the same, their orders are different. Yes, even if three of the six numbers drawn are shared between the drawings.

Four-Number Combination(s)

The Australia Play continued to go big with two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 12, 19, 34, 47 (Debuted December 31, 2008)
  • 12, 14, 19, 34 (Debuted July 18, 2001)
And it likes to go big. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

By process of elimination, it was Powerball that saw the Pattern encore. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, King of the Powerball Patterns, saw its 83rd appearance with 2, 24, 28, 51, 58, and PB 7.

An encore is nothing to sneeze at. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Out of the 229 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 36.2% of them.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 23rd appearance, and was seen alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in this past Saturday’s drawing. This has now played in 27.7% of the 83 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 229 drawings into account, this General Order has played about 10% of the time.

Now with four appearances, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 17.4% of the time. This Specific Order has also played in 4.82% of the 83 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.75% of all 229 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order had played in the April 15, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The Pattern encore was the only big play for Powerball. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will Saturday’s drawing lead to either an Australia Play encore or a {2-1-1-1-1} three-peat?

The 4-1-1 on Mega Millions

Time flies by, doesn’t it? With only a few weeks left in 2017, let’s take moment to reflect:

  • Another {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak happened over the summer.
  • A new system was implemented early last month. Instead of 75 “regular” balls and 15 Mega Balls, we now have 70 “regular” balls and 25 Mega Balls. We call the new system 70-25.

With this new system, there have been 314 drawings. Of those drawings, this is the first one to have the uncommonly-seen {4-1-1} Pattern.

General Lottery Analysis

The December 12, 2017 drawing saw winning numbers 8, 23, 24, 25, 27, and MB 9, bringing the number of appearances of the {4-1-1} to  seven.

Out came a rare Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played 2.23% of the time, and was last seen in the March 28, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the {3-1-1-1} Pattern seen that night.

Tuesday night also saw the fourth appearance of the [1-4-1] General Order. This General Order has played in 57.1% of the seven drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 314 Mega Millions drawings, the [1-4-1] General Order has played in 1.27% of them. We last saw this General Order in the June 10, 2016 drawing. This wasn’t reconfigured from anything.

The 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut! At least, in the 70-25 system. Under said system, this Specific Order has played in 25% of the four drawings where the [1-4-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 14.3% of the seven drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.32% of all drawings. The 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order did appear in the old 75-15 system, having been seen in the July 22, 2016 drawing. That Specific Order was reconfigured to 1 3 1 0 0 1 so it would comply with the 70-25 system.

Three Number Combination(s)

The rarely-seen {4-1-1} Pattern was accompanied by two repeating Three-Number Combinations.

  • 25, 27, MB 9 (Debuted July 8, 2014)
  • 8, 24, 25 (Debuted July 22, 2016)
The repeating Combinations also doubled as bookends. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Will Friday’s drawing feature another rarely-seen Pattern?

Repeating Combination Bundle

The snowstorm has passed, leaving broken records, social media blow-ups, and power outages. Neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball broke any records December 9th. But, there were a few rumblings in the repeating Combinations department. We’ll get to those in a moment. First things first though: the analyses!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

One way to obtain “Most commonly played Pattern” status is to appear in streaks. That is, appearing in at least three consecutive drawings. Saturday’s drawing saw the {3-2-1} Pattern play for the third time in a row. This time, the winning numbers were 4, 5, 10, 21, 34, and 40, bringing the number of appearances up to 783.

The {3-2-1} Pattern was liked so much, it came back a 3rd time. Source: lotterytrend.com.

With 1506 Lotto Texas drawing so far, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 52% of the time.

Now with 134 appearances, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.1% of the 783 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 1506 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 8.90% of the time. Prior to Saturday night, the 3 2 1 Specific Order played in the November 4, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Lotto Texas is sometimes fond of throwing in a repeating Four-Number Combination that debuted sometime in the previous decade. Not this time!

Did Powerball see a Pattern encore Saturday night?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball didn’t see a Pattern encore. However, it too saw its most commonly played Pattern. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 82nd appearance with winning numbers 25, 36, 31, 55, 60, and PB 6.

Powerball could play the “Most Commonly Seen Pattern” game, too. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in roughly 36% of the 228 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the November 11, 2017 drawing.

With its 22nd appearance, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played in 26.8% of the 82 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Looking at all 228 drawings, this General Order has played 9.65% of the time. We last saw the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order in the October 21, 2017 drawing.

Now with five appearances, the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 22.7% of the 22 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 6.10% of the 82 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.19% of all 228 drawings. The 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played on April 22, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball saw a couple of repeating Three-Number Combinations, both debuting about three weeks apart:

Will there be more repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations in Wednesday’s drawing?

There’s Snow Pattern Like {2-1-1-1-1}

Currently, a winter storm is dropping several inches of snow across the Eastern United States. Thursday night into Friday, places that normally don’t see snow saw anywhere from a dusting to a few inches.

Lottery Trend headquarters was one of them.

A small, early morning snowball.

What with it being Houston and all, the snow never stays long. It was all gone by noon Friday. Yet, it was still cold, for Houston at least. The high temperature barely reached 40 °F, or about 5 °C for the rest of the world. To our readers in the Eastern U.S., stay safe and stay warm.

And what of Mega Millions? Well, it avoided being buried under the snow Friday night.

General Lottery Analysis

A {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore ruled the night December 8th. With winning numbers 6, 37, 46, 60, 70, and MB 24, this Pattern has played 137 times.

Out of the cold comes a Pattern encore. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 313 drawings, this Pattern has appeared in 43.8% of them.

Now with 33 appearances, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played in 24.1% of the 137 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also been seen in 10.5% of all 313 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order played November 24, 2017.

The 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order made its 12th appearance. This Specific Order has now played in 36.4% of the 33 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. And, it has played in 8.76% of the 137 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 313 drawings into account, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played 3.83% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order in the September 22, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations. Apparently, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore was considered “Good enough” for keeping warm.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go on to a three-peat in Tuesday’s drawing?

Around the Bonfire with Lotto Texas and Powerball

Our portion of Lottery Trend Country is still in the grips of winter. In fact, it’s so tight that the “s” word (that’s “snow”) was mentioned in the Houston weather forecast. As exciting as it all is, we’ll have to put it to the side.  Be it rain, heat, hail, or (possible) snow, Lotto Texas and Powerball held their drawings without issue on December 6, 2017.  Lotto Texas greeted winter with a Pattern encore. Although Powerball saw no such thing, it wasn’t totally iced out of the numbers madness.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas liked the {3-2-1} Pattern so much that it decided to bring it back. This time, the winning numbers were 1, 25, 35, 42, 48, and 51.

With 1505 drawings so far, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played about 52% of the time.

Now with 143 appearances, the 1 2 3 Specific Order has played in 18.3% of the 782 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.50% of all 1505 drawings. We last saw the 1 2 3 Specific Order in the August 19, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

What was Powerball’s contribution to the numbers madness?

Not an encore. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 227 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 30.8% of the time. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern previously played in the November 25, 2017 drawing.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 27th appearance. And, it has now played in 38.6% of the 70 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 227 drawings into account, this General Order has played 11.9% of the time. This General Order was last seen in the November 22, 2017 drawing.

Playing for the second time ever, the 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 7.41% of the 27 drawings where [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 2.86% of the 70 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.88% of all 227 drawings. The 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order made its debut in the January 21, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination was 19, 55, and 62.

But there was a “hidden” repeating Three-Number Combination. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Combination made its debut in the September 17, 2016 drawing.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern go for the three-peat? Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore?

The Big Mega Millions Chill

Winter is here. For some animals, bears for example, winter means hibernation. For other animals, it means winter outfits, hot cocoa, presents, and snow days. Mega Millions, being a lottery and all, need not worry about such mortal things. And yet, even it’s not immune to cooldowns. Timing is everything.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 14, 15, 37, 42, 67, and MB 22, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 136th appearance in the December 5, 2017 drawing.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern provided some warmth. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 312 drawings in the 70-25 system, this Pattern has played 43.6% of the time. This Pattern was last seen in the November 28, 2017 drawing.

Making its 37th appearance was the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order. This General Order has played in 27.2% of the 136 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 312 Mega Millions drawings, this General Order has played 11.9% of the time. The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order was seen alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in the November 28th drawing.

Now with seven appearances, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 18.9% of the 37 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. In the 136 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, this Specific Order has played 5.15% of the time. Finally, when looking at all 312 drawings, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 2.24% of them. Unlike the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order, this Specific Order did not play on November 28th. It was last seen in the November 10, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

The only sliver of warmth was the appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will things warm up a bit Friday night with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore?

A Playback and a Spread

The word “Uneventful” does not describe the night of December 2nd. This was the night of the playback, and the similar spread. Which lottery saw which event?

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 12, 15, 17, 31, 38, and 47, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 781st appearance.

Six numbers pack a lot of power. Source: lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has played in 51.9% of the 1504 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen November 25, 2017.

Now with 145 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.6% of the 781 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in 9.64% of all 1504 drawings. And, it was seen alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in the November 25th drawing.

Because the {3-2-1} Pattern and the 3 1 2 Specific Order were seen together in a previous drawing, we here at Lottery Binge call this a playback.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Lotto Texas thought the playback was enough. There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 43rd appearance, with winning numbers 28, 30, 32, 36, 58, and PB 6.

These numbers ruled the night. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 226 Powerball drawings so far, this Pattern has played about 19% of the time. It was last seen in the November 15, 2017 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order has now played 14 times, and has thus appeared in 32.6% of the 43 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has played 6.19% of the time when looking at all 226 drawings. Prior to Saturday, this General Order played in the September 23, 2017 drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 28.6% of the 14 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.30% of the 43 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} pattern appeared. Finally, when looking at all 226 Powerball drawings, the 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has played 1.77% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order in the May 24, 2017 drawing.

Similar Spread

It just so happens that Powerball also saw a similar spread. The spread was shared with the numbers in the February 18, 2017 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 3, 7, 9, 31, 33, and PB 20. The spread was 04:02:22:02. The spread for Saturday’s numbers was 02:02:04:22. Remember that with similar spreads, the numbers in the spreads are the same, but their orders are different.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There was also one lone repeating Three-Number Combination: 32, 36, and 58.

Not even six months and it shows up again. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

It wasn’t that long ago that this Combination made its debut. More specifically, it was the June 24, 2017 drawing.

Will either Pattern make an encore presentation in Wednesday’s drawing? Will there be more similar spreads?

December Comes to Mega Millions

Can you believe it? We made it to December! With all the insanity going on in the “real world”, we can count on Mega Millions to be one of many trusty avenues of escape. One thing that makes Mega Millions fun to analyze is that it likes to shake things up. November was “The Month of {2-1-1-1-1}”. That Pattern was the first and last Pattern to play. Did {2-1-1-1-1} become the Pattern to start December?

General Lottery Analysis

It turns out that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern did not make an encore. The honor of starting December was handed to the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 16, 22, 40, 41, 59, and MB 8, this Pattern made its 88th appearance.

Changing it up a bit. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

As of December 1st, there have been 311 Mega Millions drawings. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 28.3% of the time, and was last seen in the November 21, 2017 drawing.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 32nd appearance. This has now played in 36.4% of the 88 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 311 drawings, this General Order has played 10.3% of the time. The [2-2-1-1] General Order accompanied the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in the November 21st drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 12.5% of the 32 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.55% of the 88 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.29% of all 311 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the September 15, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 0 2 2 1 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Three Number Combination(s)

Even without the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern taking the reins, Mega Millions got December started with three repeating Three-Number Combinations:

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Tuesday’s drawing, or does Mega Millions have another gift in mind?

Resting Up for December

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s now time to put up those Christmas decorations (it’s never too early!) and get your shop on. Lotto Texas and Powerball weren’t up for that. November 29th was one of their quieter nights. That is, if you were to just look at the numbers. One important lesson when analyzing or playing the lottery it’s to never assume.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

In our last Lotto Texas post, we stated that, “All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.” True to form, an Australia Play made its 203rd appearance! With winning numbers 6, 12, 30, 33, 45, and 51, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played in 13.5% of the 1503 Lotto Texas drawings.

Would you believe that an Australia Play was what kicked off November this year?

Four-Number Combination(s)

Believe it or not, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations. Apparently, Lotto Texas thought copying Mega Millions’s “Finish the month the way you started” move was enough excitement.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball didn’t see an Australia Play, but it did see an uncommon Pattern. The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 13th appearance with winning numbers 24, 26, 28, 59, 63, and PB 16.

*This* {3-2-1} Pattern is rare. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 225 drawings in Powerball, this Pattern has played 5.78% of the time. We last saw the {3-2-1} Pattern in the November 18th, 2017 drawing.

Making its third appearance was the [3-2-1] General Order. It has played in 23.1% of the 13 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 1.33% of all 225 drawings. Prior to Wednesday, this General Order played February 18th, 2017.

There was, in fact, a new Specific Order: 0 3 0 0 2 1. With that said, this Specific Order has now played in 33.3% of the three drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order has appeared. The 0 3 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has also played in 7.69% of the 13 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.44% of all 225 drawings.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either Pattern start December with an encore?
