Pre-Halloween Playback Fever

October 28, 2017 was a good night for Netflix, nail-biting World Series games, and lottery. For those of you who enjoy playbacks, Saturday was your night! We saw a playback in Lotto Texas. Powerball was close, but a playback wasn’t meant to be. However, the Specific Order played for the first time in over a year. Which Pattern led the way to a playback in Lotto Texas, and what was that Powerball Specific Order?

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-3} Pattern made its 127th appearance with winning numbers 3, 7, 13, 37, 38, and 50.

These numbers produced a Pattern that hadn’t been seen in nearly two months. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Given that there have been 1494 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 8.5% of the time. We last saw this Pattern about a couple of months ago in the August 30, 2017 drawing.

Now with 48 appearances, the 3 0 3 Specific Order has played in 37.8% of the 127 drawings where the {3-3} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.21% of all 1494 drawings. The 3 0 3 Specific Order was also last seen on August 30th.

Note that the “previously played” date for both the Pattern and Specific Order are the same. This is not an Australia Play because the Pattern and Specific Order are not the same. Remember that in Lotto Texas, an Australia Play consists of the {2-2-2} Pattern and 2 2 2 Specific Order.

Four-Number Combination(s)

The repeating Four-Number Combination of the evening was 3, 13, 38, and 50.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 27, 35, 38, 57, 66, and PB 10, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 64th appearance.

These numbers harbored a {2-2-1-1} Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has played in 29.6% of the 216 Powerball drawings, and was last seen October 18, 2017.

Now with 20 appearances, the [1-2-2-1] General Order has played in 31.25% of the 64 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern appeared. It has also played in 9.26% of all 216 drawings, and was also seen in the October 18th drawing.

The Specific Order of the evening was 0 1 2 0 2 1. Of the 20 drawings that featured the [1-2-2-1] General Order, this Specific Order has appeared 15% of the time. This Specific Order has also played in roughly 4.69% of the 64 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, the 0 1 2 0 2 1 Specific Order previously played in the June 24, 2016 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Saturday night.

Lotto Texas and Powerball will be the lotteries to kick off November. Will Wednesday’s drawings see any Pattern encores?

It’s the Last Dance

For those of you who may not know, the October 27, 2017  drawing was the last one with Mega Balls 1 through 15. Starting on Halloween, the Mega Ball range will go from 1 to 25. “Regular” balls will remain 1 to 75. Also, the price of a Mega Millions ticket will double in price from $1 to $2. This is not a (pre) Halloween scare.

Whatever happens in Mega Millions, Lottery Binge and the Lottery Trend analysis team will be here.

Now that we’ve got that covered, which Pattern was the send-off for this system?

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern had the honor of playing one final time under the current system. With winning numbers 17, 27, 41, 51, 52, and MB 13, this Pattern has played 125 times.

Given that there have been 420 drawings, this Pattern has played 29.8% of the time. We last saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in the October 17, 2017 drawing.

The General Order of the evening was [2-1-2-1], and it has now played 43 times. With that said, it has played in 34.4% of the 125 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 10.2% of all 420 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the [2-1-2-1] General Order previously played in the September 26, 2017 drawing.

Now with six appearances, the 0 2 1 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in roughly 14% of the 43 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.8% of the 125 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. And of course, this has played in roughly 1.43% of the 420 Mega Millions drawings. The 0 2 1 2 0 1 Specific Order hadn’t been seen in over a year. It previously played in the September 2, 2016 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Two repeating Three-Number Combinations were there for the send-off:

What does Halloween have in store for Mega Millions?

The Pattern Bind

“The more things change, the more they stay the same,” as they say. What does this have to do with playing the lottery, you ask? The numbers that play in any given drawing will change, that’s a given. But, there are times where a few things, oh, say a Pattern, will remain the same. Make that two Patterns. On October 25th, both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw encores for their respective Patterns.

And how fitting that as the drawings happened, the Astros would go on to tie the World Series!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The 777th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 18, 19, 24, 32, 51, and 52.

With 1493 Lotto Texas drawings so far, this Pattern has played roughly 52% of the time.

With its 119th appearance, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has played in 15.3% of the 777 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared. And, given 1493 drawings, this Specific Order has played 7.97% of the time. Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern, the 1 3 2 Specific Order did not make an encore. It previously played in the September 9, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Just like last time, there was a lone repeating Four-Number Combination. Wednesday’s Combination was

This Combination made its debut in the March 5, 2014 drawing.

Before we move on to Powerball, we’d like to mention that exactly one week ago, we discussed repeating Combination 18, 25, 47, and 50. That Combination made its debut in the March 8, 2014 drawing.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 18, 22, 29, 54, 57, and PB 8, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 80 times.

Encore #2. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Of the 215 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 37.2% of them.

Now with 18 appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 22.5% of the 80 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played. This General Order has also played in 8.37% of the 215 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order was last seen in the September 30, 2017 drawing.

Making its fourth appearance was the 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 22.2% of the 18 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. It also means that this Specific Order has, given the 80 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, played 5% of the time. Finally, this Specific Order has been seen in 1.86% of all 215 drawings. The 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the August 19, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

This Combination made its debut in the July 13, 2016 drawing.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern and the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern stick together like taffy, or will they split?

Dodging an Encore

October 24, 2017 was a big night. The Dodgers defeated the Astros in Game 1 of the World Series, and the {3-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t make an encore. The Specific Order was also last seen sometime this year. But, there was a phenomenon that doesn’t happen often in Mega Millions. See if you can guess what it is without scrolling through the post.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 20, 24, 34, 56, 64, and MB 6, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 173 drawings.

No Pattern encore here. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 419 Mega Millions drawings to date, this Pattern has now played 41.3% of the time, and was last seen September 22, 2017.

Now with 44 appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 173 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 419 drawings into account, this General Order has played 10.5% of the time. We last saw the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order in the September 1, 2017 drawing.

When it comes to Specific Orders, the 0 2 1 1 1 1 was the choice of the evening. With eight appearances, this Specific Order has played in 18.2% of the 44 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This statistic becomes 4.62% when accounting for the 173 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. And, when looking at all 419 drawings, this Specific Order has played 1.91% of the time. The 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the February 7, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Repeating Four-Number Combinations in Mega Millions are like U.S. two-dollar bills. It sounds crazy, but it’s a thing, and it’s rare.

The repeating Four-Number Combination of the evening was

  • 34, 56, 64, MB 6

and it made its debut in the January 7, 2014 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Of course, when there’s a repeating Four-Number Combination, that means four repeating Three-Number Combinations were nestled inside. The Combinations were as follows:

  • 56, 64, MB 6
  • 34, 64, MB 6
  • 34, 56, MB 6
  • 34, 56, 64

As is the nature of these types of repeating Three-Number Combinations, they too made their debut in the January 7th drawing mentioned earlier.

These weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations. In fact, there was one more:

  • 20, 34, MB 6

This one debuted a bit later in 2014. More specifically, the October 3, 2014 drawing.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} make an encore Friday night?

Common Was the Name of the Game

October 21st was a lot of things to a lot of people:

  • Ten days before Halloween (Have you gotten your costume yet?)
  • The Astros defeated the Yankees, and are on their way to play the Dodgers in the World Series. The first game is Tuesday.
  • There were no Pattern encores.

That last bullet is what we’re focusing on in today’s post. Although neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball saw Pattern encores Saturday night, they did see their most commonly played Patterns.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With 776 appearances, the {3-2-1} Pattern is second-to-none. The winning numbers this time were 2, 18, 29, 46, 53, and 54.

Of the 1492 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played in 52% of them, and previously played in the October 7, 2017 drawing.

With 114 appearances, the 2 1 3 Specific Order has played in 14.7% of the 776 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 7.64% of all 1492 drawings, and was last seen in the August 26, 2017 drawing.

Powerball

Given that there have been 214 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 36.9% of them, and was last seen in the September 30, 2017 drawing.

Making its 21st appearance, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played in 26.6% of the 79 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 9.81% of all 214 Powerball drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order played in the August 9, 2017 drawing.

Now with seven appearances, the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 33.3% of the 21 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 8.86% of the 79 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Given the 214 Powerball drawings, this Specific Order has played in 3.27% of them. The 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order was seen alongside the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order in the August 9th drawing mentioned earlier.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Earlier this year, the Combination made its debut in the January 4th drawing.

Will Wednesday’s drawing see these Patterns joined at the hip, or will they go their separate ways?

Breaking the Streak

October 20th saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern streak come to an end. However, Mega Millions wasn’t completely quiet Friday night. There was a Specific Order that hasn’t played in over three years. What Pattern would be so bold to break the streak?

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern was that bold Pattern. With winning numbers 6, 23, 63, 66, 73, and MB 9, this Pattern has played 71 times.

The numbers that stopped a four-peat. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 418 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in about 17% of them. Prior to Friday night, we last saw the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in the October 6th, 2017 drawing.

With 27 appearances, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in 38% of the 71 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 6.46% of all 418 drawings. The [1-1-3-1] General Order had previously played in the September 29th, 2017 drawing.

And now for the “Specific Order that hadn’t played in years”. The 1 1 0 0 3 1 Specific Order made its third appearance. Of the 27 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order appeared, this Specific Order has played in 11.1% of them. We’ve also seen this Specific Order in 4.23% of the 71 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, and in 0.72% of all 418 drawings. This Specific Order was last seen in the August 8th, 2014 Mega Millions drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

It’s tempting to think that these numbers would also produce at least one repeating Three-Number Combination. There weren’t any this past Friday.

Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Tuesday’s drawing? Will next week see another Specific Order that hadn’t played in years?

Oi! We’ve Got Ourselves a Couple of Encores

Via GIPHY

For our U.S. readers, nothing says, “I survived the week so far!” than a chocolate cupcake or two, right? October 18, 2017 was yet another food centered holiday: National Chocolate Cupcake Day. Lotto Texas and Powerball didn’t bring any cupcakes, but both of their Patterns made an encore appearance. Talk about a boomerang effect! What’s more, is that there was a repeating Three or Four-Number Combination here and there.

Making its 19th appearance was the [1-2-2-1] General Order, which has now played in 30.2% of the 63 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 8.92% of all 213 drawings. The [1-2-2-1] General Order was not seen alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern Wednesday night. Instead, this General Order was last seen in the September 20, 2017 drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 0 0 1 2 2 1 Specific Order has played in 10.5% of the 19 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared. Additionally, this Specific Order has played in 3.17% of the 63 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Of course, we can’t forget to mention that this has played in 0.94% of all 213 drawings. The 0 0 1 2 2 1 Specific Order accompanied the [1-2-2-1] General Order in the September 20th drawing. In fact, that was when the Specific Order made its debut.

The Charming 13th

With two weeks to go before Halloween, Mega Millions decided to get in the mood. It wasn’t enough that the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance on Friday the 13th. This Pattern made its third consecutive appearance in the October 17th drawing.

And the number 13 still didn’t appear.

General Lottery Analysis

Tuesday’s winning numbers were 31, 45, 49, 56, 70, and MB 11. This brings the number of appearances of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern to 124.

Who needs 13 to pack a punch? Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

With 417 Mega Millions drawings so far, this Pattern has played 29.7% of the time.

Making its 46th appearance was the [2-2-1-1] General Order, which has now played in 37.1% of the 124 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played. This General Order has also played in roughly 11% of all 417 drawings. The [2-2-1-1] accompanied the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in the Friday the 13th drawing. Could Tuesday’s drawing be a playback?

The appearance of the 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order puts the idea of a playback to rest. So, when did it play last? Don’t worry, we’ll get to that in a minute. With its third-ever appearance, this Specific Order has played in 6.52% of the 46 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This has also played in 2.42% of the 124 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.72% of all 417 drawings. Until Tuesday night, 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order hadn’t been seen in almost three years. This Specific Order had previously played in the January 20th, 2015 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

This time around, there was a repeating Three-Number Combination. The Combination of the evening was 31, 49, MB 11.

This Combination made its debut over the summer. More specifically, in the July 28th, 2017 drawing.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern continue its streak Friday night, or will another Pattern take over the reins?

A Mob of Combinations

Did you know that when the 14th falls on a Saturday, the chances of wild and crazy things happening goes up?

Okay, not really. But, there was plenty of wild and crazy action in Lotto Texas and Powerball. Whether you’re hoppin’ mad for Australia Plays or Specific Order debuts, October 14, 2017  had them. If you don’t fancy those sorts of things, there was a repeating Five-Number Combination. There was also a repeating Three-Number Combination, or two.

Lotto Texas

  • 15, 24, 44, 53
  • 15, 23, 44, 53

The bottom four made their debut alongside the Five-Number Combination in the May 21st drawing we mentioned earlier. The top Combination appeared in that same drawing, naturally, but it’s a special one. Four-Number Combination 23, 24, 44, 53 made its debut about a year-and-a-half prior to the other four Combinations. It debuted in the November 24, 2012 drawing, just two days after (US)Thanksgiving.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Although there wasn’t an Australia Play here, Powerball saw a respectable amount of number action. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 62nd appearance with winning numbers 32, 37, 56, 66, 69, and PB 11.

Will Wednesday night be hopping with repeating Combinations, or will things mellow out?

An Encore on the Thirteenth

Friday the 13th is a day that makes triskaidekaphobes take extra precautions. When it happens in October, it takes on another layer. Being just a few weeks before Halloween is probably the reason why! For us here at Lottery Binge, the 13th is just another day, no matter what day of the week it falls on. Normally. This is the first Mega Millions drawing that we’ve analyzed that just so happens to fall on Friday the 13th. And there’s going to be another one six months from now.

Spoiler alert: The number 13 did not appear.

General Lottery Analysis

Instead, we saw an encore of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. The 123rd appearance of this Pattern was made possible by winning numbers 2, 7, 18, 26, 31, and MB 12.

Nothing unlucky here. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played in 29.6% of the 416 Mega Millions drawings.

Now having appeared in 45 drawings, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in 36.6% of the 123 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 10.8% of all 416 drawings. We last saw the [2-2-1-1] General Order in the September 15, 2017 drawing.

With its third appearance, the 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 6.67% of the 45 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. Additionally, this Specific Order has played in 2.44% of the 123 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 416 drawings, this Specific Order has played 0.72% of the time. To see when the 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order previously played, we need to go back to the April 28, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Amidst all the fuss of Friday the 13th, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern go for a three-peat in Tuesday’s drawing?
