The Big Thaw

After a restful weekend, Lotto Texas and Powerball came back swinging Wednesday night. In fact, a major warm-up took place. July 12, 2017  saw Patterns from recent Saturdays make an appearance in both lotteries. What’s more is that the Powerball Pattern from this past Saturday made an encore appearance. There were also repeating Four-Number Combinations for Lotto Texas and a repeating Three-Number Combination for Powerball.

Prior to Wednesday night, how recent was Lotto Texas’s Pattern? What was it, anyway?

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 760th appearance, with winning numbers 4, 19, 24, 32, 44, and 50.

This Pattern has played in 51.9% of the 1463 drawings and was last seen in the July 1, 2017  drawing nearly two weeks ago.

With 116 appearances, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has played in 15.3% of the 760 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.93% of all 1463 drawings. Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, this Specific Order previously played on July 1st.

There were two repeating Four-Number Combinations, one of which made its debut near the beginning of the century (yeah, that far). They were

  • 4, 24, 32, 50 (Debuted December 29, 2001)
  • 19, 24, 32, 50 (Debuted September 3, 2008)

This Pattern has played in 30.8% of the 185 Powerball drawings.

Making its 23rd appearance, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in 40.4% of the 57 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 12.4% of all 185 drawings. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, this General Order was last seen in the July 8, 2017 drawing.

With two appearances, the 2 2 0 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 8.70% of the 23 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order appeared, 3.51% of the 57 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.08% of all drawings. This Specific Order made its debut in the November 4, 2015 drawing.

There was one repeating Three-Number Combination: 23, 61, PB 9.

This Combination made its debut last year, in the April 9, 2016 drawing.

Will things stay hot on Saturday night?

Guess Who Decided to Show Up?

Well, isn’t this something!? After not showing up in the July 7th Mega Millions drawing, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared Tuesday night.

If it had made an appearance in both Friday night and Tuesday night’s drawings, it would’ve shattered the record for most consecutive appearances of a Pattern. At least, as far as Lottery Binge’s Mega Millions coverage is concerned. Perhaps next summer, {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Perhaps next summer.

With that said, the winning numbers for the July 11th drawing were 7, 18, 24, 55, 74, and MB 10.

{2-1-1-1-1} comes back. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared in 162 out of 389 Mega Millions drawings, and has played 41.6% of the time. The last time we saw this Pattern was in the July 4th drawing.

Making its 46th appearance, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played in 28.4% of the 162 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 11.8% of all 389 drawings, and was last seen in the May 16th drawing.

With nine appearances, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 19.6% of the 46 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, and 5.56% of the 162 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 2.31% of all 389 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the November 15th, 2016 drawing.

There were also three repeating Three-Number Combinations, and they were as follows:

  • 18, 24, MB 10 (Debuted November 17th, 2015)
  • 55, 74, MB 10 (Debuted April 29th, 2016)
  • 7, 24, 74 (Debuted October 18th, 2016)

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern dare to start up another streak right after breaking the last one, or will another Pattern play?

The Big Combination Freeze

Things got even chillier July 8, 2017. For the past few weeks, the Lotto Texas/Powerball posts covered at least one lottery having either a repeating Four-Number or Three-Number Combination, respectively. Saturday night was the first time since June 14, 2017 that there were no repeating Four-Number or Three-Number Combinations. Just as well, for the Fourth of July has come and gone, and those who took mini-vacations are making their way back to work.

Lotto Texas

The {4-1-1} Pattern made its 160th appearance with winning numbers 8, 33, 38, 43, 51, and 53.

This Pattern has now played in 10.9% of the 1462 drawings. Speaking of June 14th, this was the last time the {4-1-1} Pattern was seen.

Now with 55 appearances, the 1 1 4 Specific Order has played in approximately 34.4% of the 160 drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.76% of all 1462 drawings. Like the {4-1-1} Pattern, this Specific Order was also last seen in the June 14th drawing.

Powerball

Making its 56th appearance, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played in 30.4% of the 184 Powerball drawings. The winning numbers were 8, 10, 29, 40, 59, and PB 26.

No repeating Three-Number Combinations this time. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern was last seen in the June 28, 2017 drawing; this was almost two weeks ago.

Next, the [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 22nd appearance, and has played in 39.3% of the 56 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in approximately 12% of all 184 drawings. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, this General Order was last seen in the June 28th drawing.

Other than the lack of repeating Three-Number Combinations, one of the biggest highlights of Powerball was the debut of the 2 0 2 0 1 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 4.55% of the 22 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 1.79% of the 56 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared and 0.54% of all drawings.

Will the cool down continue into next week, or will things heat up a bit?

The Streak is Gone

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t go for a sixth consecutive appearance in the July 7, 2017 drawing. If it had, then it would have tied the record set last summer. What a firework show that would have been! Nevertheless, Friday night’s drawing provided its own fireworks. Although a less common Pattern played, there was more bubbling underneath the surface.

The winning numbers were 2, 9, 11, 28, 60, and MB 10, bringing the total number of appearances of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern to 63.

Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played in 16.2% of the 388 Mega Millions drawings, and was last seen in the June 13, 2017 drawing.

Making its 22nd appearance, the [3-1-1-1] General Order has played in 34.9% of the 63 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 5.67% of all 388 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this General Order was last seen in the May 26, 2017 drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in approximately 9.09% of the 22 drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 3.17% of the 63 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 0.52% of all 388 drawings. The 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the May 22, 2015 drawing.

Seeing a Specific Order that hadn’t played in over two years wasn’t the only big draw of the evening.

Friday night’s winning numbers share a similar spread with the May 23, 2014 drawing. That drawing’s winning numbers were 12, 14, 21, 38, 70, and MB 15, with a spread of 02:07:17:32. The spread from Friday night was 07:02:17:32. Note that while the difference between numbers was the same in both drawings, the order was different.

Another big draw was the repeat appearances of two Three-Number Combinations. The Combinations were

  • 2, 9, 11 (Debuted June 2, 2015)
  • 11, 60, MB 10 (Debuted March 17, 2017)
Boxed in together. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance Tuesday? Will there be another similar spread next week?

Cooling Off with a Trip Down Under

There was a shift in gears July 5th. Lotto Texas decided to beat the heat, and the {3-2-1} Pattern streak, with an Australia Play. It wasn’t too chilly though, as Wednesday night also saw a repeating Four-Number Combination. Powerball saw its most commonly played Pattern, but there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations. That, and there were no new Specific Orders to speak of in either lottery.

Lotto Texas

The 197th iteration of the {2-2-2} Pattern was thanks to numbers 4, 8, 24, 32, 47, and 51.

Likewise, the 2 2 2 Specific Order made its 197th appearance. Both the Pattern and Specific Order have played in 13.5% of the 1461 Lotto Texas drawings. The last time an Australia Play appeared was on May 27th, 2017.

This Australia Play also produced the repeating Four-Number Combination 4, 8, 47, and 51, which made its debut in the May 12th, 2001 drawing.

Fun fact: The very first iPod made its debut five months later. It would be several years later before the iPhone made its mark on the world.

Powerball

The winning numbers were 4, 9, 16, 54, 68, and PB 21, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern to 67.

Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 36.6% of the 183 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the June 24th, 2017 drawing.

Making its fifteenth appearance, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 22.4% of the 67 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, and in approximately 8.2% of all 183 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this General Order played in the June 17th, 2017 drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 26.667% of the fifteen drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 5.97% of the 67 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 2.19% of all 183 drawings, and was last seen in the May 27th, 2017 drawing.

Will this cool down continue into Saturday night, or will things heat up again?

Five-Time Charmer

The Fourth of July came and went. Across the U.S., people went to cookouts, parades, and even sales at retail stores. Of course, no Fourth of July celebration is complete without fireworks. Speaking of fireworks, Mega Millions had a show of its own. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now made its fifth consecutive appearance!

Did this iteration of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern also produce any repeating Three-Number Combinations, or did the Pattern steal the show?

Tuesday night’s winning numbers were 16, 39, 47, 53, 71, and MB 15, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern to 161.

This Pattern has now played in 41.6% of the 387 Mega Millions drawings.

Making its 37th appearance, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in approximately 23% of the 161 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.56% of all 387 drawings. Like the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, this General Order was last seen in the June 30th drawing.

This Specific Order has also played in 2.33% of all 387 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the January 27th, 2017 drawing.

Nestled within this iteration of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern were four, yes four repeating Three-Number Combinations! The Combinations were as follows:

  • 16, 39, 53 (Debuted February 23rd, 2016)
  • 39, 71, MB 15 (Debuted August 19th, 2014)
  • 53, 71, MB 15 (Debuted February 10th, 2015)
  • 16, 47, 53 (Debuted November 11th, 2016)

For those of you who are new to Lottery Binge, or just need a memory jog, the “five-peat” phenomenon was talked about last summer. Is the long Pattern streak going to be a new summer phenomenon? Will the {2-1-1-1-1} tie the record for six consecutive appearances that was established last summer?

Combination Cannon (and Corn)

Compared to this past Wednesday, Saturday night was an explosion of numbers. Lotto Texas started the month of July with the third consecutive appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern and a repeating Four-Number Combination that hadn’t been seen in over fifteen years. The (usually) comparatively mellow Powerball saw the debut of a Specific Order and three repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Now, about the corn. What does that have to do with today’s post? That shall be answered in a moment, but first, let’s get the July 1st analysis out of the way.

Lotto Texas

The 759th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern was brought about by winning numbers 8, 29, 30, 36, 47, and 52.

This Pattern has played in 52% of the 1460 Lotto Texas drawings.

The 1 3 2 Specific Order made its 115th appearance, and has played in 15.2% of the 759 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.88% of all 1460 drawings. Prior to Saturday, this Specific Order was last seen in the June 7, 2017 drawing.

The Four-Number Combination of the evening was 29, 30, 36, and 47; it made its debut in the February 20, 2002 drawing.

Fun fact: February 20, 2002 was a Palindrome Day.

Powerball

Powerball’s {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 36th appearance with winning numbers 19, 42, 45, 48, 53, and PB 16.

This Pattern has played in 19.8% of the 182 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the June 21, 2017 drawing.

Making its sixteenth appearance, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in 44.4% of the 36 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 8.79% of all 182 drawings. Like the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, this General Order previously played in the June 21st drawing.

The 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut, and has now played in 6.25% of the sixteen drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 2.78% of the 36 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.55% of all 182 drawings.

Powerball’s trio of repeating Three-Number Combinations were the following:

  • 19, 42, 48 (Debuted October 29, 2016)
  • 48, 53, PB 16 (Debuted March 15, 2017)
  • 45, 48, PB 16 (Debuted March 25, 2017)

In contrast to the Lotto Texas repeating Four-Number Combination, these Combinations made their debuts very recently.

Now, the answer to today’s riddle: What does corn have to do with Lottery Binge? Well, the Fourth of July is only a few days away, and regardless of political leanings, people from coast to coast relish in fireworks, a day off from work, and barbecue. No Fourth of July cookout is complete without corn! Yes, corn! Corn on the cob roasted, or simply straight off the stalk, there’s nothing like the taste of organically grown sweet corn.

Sweet, sweet corn

The corn you see here was harvested yesterday afternoon out of my dad’s garden. No pesticides here! He let Mother Nature do the work, and she was mighty kind this year.

Getting back to the lottery side of things, will Lotto Texas continue its {3-2-1} Pattern streak? Will another Specific Order make its debut in Powerball?

Four-Timing Pattern

June ended not with a whimper, but with the sound of fireworks. The June 30th Mega Millions drawing saw the fourth consecutive appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Was there also at least one repeating Three-Number Combination, or was the four-peat the only highlight of the evening?

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 160th appearance with winning numbers 10, 38, 51, 55, 64, and MB 6.

This Pattern has played in 41.5% of the 386 Mega Millions drawings.

Now with 36 appearances, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in 22.5% of the 160 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.33% of all drawings. This General Order was last seen in the May 30th drawing, exactly one month prior.

Making its ninth appearance, the 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 25% of the 36 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in approximately 5.63% of the 160 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 2.33% of all 386 drawings, and was last seen in the December 16th, 2016 drawing.

There was a repeating Three-Number Combination in the form of 38, 51, and 64. This Combination made its debut in the September 25th, 2015 drawing.

The next Mega Millions drawing will take place on July 4th. Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for a fifth consecutive appearance?
