We Got Ourselves a Three-Peat!

February ended with a one-two-three punch! Mardi Gras was in full swing, and Mega Millions saw the {2-1-1-1-1} three-peat. We also saw not one, not two, but three repeating Three-Number Combinations!

The {2-1-1-1-1} three-peat was thanks to winning numbers 20, 33, 45, 58, 69, and MB 4.

Winning Powerball numbers.

As of the February 28th, 2017 drawing, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared in 141 out of 351 drawings. This Pattern has now played 40.2% of the time and remains the most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions. Recall that we last saw this Pattern in this past Friday’s drawing.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 41st appearance, and has now played in 29.1% of the 141 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 11.7% of all 351 drawings. Unlike the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order didn’t make an encore. We need to go back to the February 21st drawing to see when this General Order previously appeared. February 21st was also the first appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in this three-peat.

The 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order made its fifth appearance, its first since the October 7th, 2016 drawing. As of Tuesday, this Specific Order has played in 12.1% of the 41 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order appeared, 3.55% of the 141 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} drawing appeared, and in 1.42% of all drawings.

Our Mega Millions coverage concludes with the repeat appearances of the following Three-Number Combinations:

  • 33, 45, MB 4 (Debuted January 21st, 2014)
  • 33, 58, 69 (Debuted July 4th, 2014)
  • 20, 45, MB 4 (Debuted November 10th, 2015)
The repeating Three-Number Combinations are boxed.

Since February ended with a bang, that means March will come roaring in like a lion, right? What better way for that to occur than for a {2-1-1-1-1} four-peat?
