Served Up Rare

Unlike what we saw in our last Lotto Texas/Powerball post, the February 25th drawing didn’t provide us with Australia Plays or repeating Four-Number (Lotto Texas) or Three-Number (Powerball) Combinations. However, Saturday night was far from “ordinary”. A rarely-seen Pattern made an appearance in Lotto Texas and the Specific Order in Powerball made its second-ever appearance. One noteworthy development was that the Patterns in both lotteries have now played the same number of times.

Lotto Texas

Saturday’s drawing marked the 50th appearance of the {5-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 16, 37, 42, 46, 49, and 54.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers.

While 50 seems like a high number of occurrences, keep in mind that there have now been 1424 drawings in Lotto Texas. Not only that, the {5-1} Pattern has now played in 3.51% of all drawings, and was last seen in the December 17, 2016 drawing.

Adding a bit more spice to the mix, the 1 0 5 Specific Order was also last seen in the December 17th drawing. This Specific Order has now made 10 appearances, and has played in 20% of the 50 drawings where the {5-1} Pattern has appeared, and 0.70% of all Lotto Texas drawings.

Powerball

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance with winning numbers 6, 32, 47, 62, 65, and PB 19.

Winning Powerball numbers.

Now with 50 appearances, this Pattern has played in approximately 34.2% of the 146 Powerball drawings to date. This Pattern, if you recall, previously played in Wednesday’s drawing.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 18th appearance, its first since the October 22, 2016 drawing. This General Order has now played in 36% of the 50 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 12.3% of all drawings.

Our coverage concludes with the second appearance of the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 11.1% of the 18 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared, 4% of the 50 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.37% of all drawings. The 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order made its debut in the September 3, 2016 drawing.

February ended with a bang for Lotto Texas and Powerball. Will March come in like a lion, or will things mellow out?

Play That Song Again, Mega Millions

Mardi Gras will be upon us soon. King cake  is flying off the bakery shelves and the orders for crawfish, or crayfish for our non-US readers, keep coming. On the lottery side, things have slowed down a bit, but Mega Millions still had a strong showing on Friday night. The most commonly seen Pattern made an encore, and we also saw a Specific Order that hadn’t been seen in almost a year.

The winning numbers for the February 24th, 2017 drawing were 12, 29, 33, 42, 68 and MB 14.

Winning Mega Millions numbers.

With 140 appearances, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern retained its position as the most commonly seen Pattern and has now played in 40% of the 350 drawings to date. Recall that this Pattern was last seen in Tuesday’s drawing.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order made its 33rd appearance and has now played in approximately 23.6% of the 140 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in approximately 9.43% of all drawings. Unlike the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order did not make an encore. To see when this General Order previously played, we need to go back to the January 27th drawing, which was nearly a month ago.

Next, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order made its third appearance, its first in nearly a year. This Specific Order previously played in the March 22nd, 2016 drawing. With that said, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has now played in 9.09% of the 33 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, 2.14% of the 140 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} drawing has appeared, and in approximately 0.86% of all drawings.

Our Mega Millions coverage concludes with the repeat appearance of the Three-Number Combination 29, 33, and 68.

In this snippet, the repeating Combination is in the red box.

This Combination made its debut in the July 25th, 2014 drawing.

Will Mega Millions end the month with a {2-1-1-1-1} three-peat?

Combos with a Side of Australia Play

The lead-up to Mardi Gras showed no signs of slowing down Wednesday night. After seeing the same Pattern in both Lotto Texas and Powerball, the February 22nd drawing decided to take things up a notch. Both lotteries saw repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations respectively, and there was an Australia Play.

Lotto Texas

The Australia Play was spotted in Lotto Texas. The {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 193rd appearance, with winning numbers 4, 8, 21, 27, 52, and 53.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers.

These two have played in 13.6% of the 1423 drawings to date. Lotto Texas last saw an Australia Play in the January 25, 2017 drawing almost a month ago.

The Lotto Texas Mardi Gras momentum got an extra boost with the repeat appearance of two Four-Number Combinations:

  • 4, 8, 21, and 53 (Debuted February 10, 2016)
  • 4, 8, 21, and 27 (Debuted February 19, 2011)
The repeating Four-Number Combinations are highlighted in red boxes.

Powerball

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern retained its position as the most commonly seen Pattern. Its 49th appearance was thanks to winning numbers 10, 13, 28, 52, 61, and PB 2.

Winning Powerball numbers.

As of Wednesday’s drawing, this Pattern has appeared in 33.8% of the 145 drawings, and had previously played in the recent February 11th drawing.

The General Order of the evening was [2-1-1-1-1], making its eleventh appearance. This General Order has now played in 22.4% of the 49 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared and in 7.59% of all drawings. Like the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order was also last seen on February 11th.

The 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its second appearance and has now played in 18.2% of the 11 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.08% of the 49 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared and in 1.38% of all Powerball drawings. The 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its debut in the August 31, 2016 drawing.

Our Powerball coverage concludes with the repeating Three-Number Combination 10, 28, and 61, which made its debut in the July 9, 2016 drawing.

Repeating Three-Number Combination can be seen in the red box.

Will the momentum for Lotto Texas and Powerballl continue as we look forward to Saturday?

A Wisp of Valentine’s

Valentine’s Day has come and gone on the calendar, but Mega Millions had other plans! The little bit of Valentine’s Day wasn’t the only thing we saw in the February 21, 2017 drawing. We saw not one, but two repeating Three-Number Combinations, one of which in fact has appeared twice before!

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 139th appearance, with winning numbers 9, 21, 30, 32, 75, MB 9.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 39.8% of the 349 drawings thus far and was last seen exactly one week prior in the February 14, 2017 drawing.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 40th appearance, its first since the November 15, 2016 drawing. This General Order has played in 28.8% of the 139 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.5% of all drawings.

The Specific Order of the evening was 1 2 1 0 1 1, making its ninth appearance. As of Tuesday’s drawing, this Specific Order has played in 22.5% of the 40 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order appeared, 6.47% of the 139 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern had appeared, and in 2.59% of all drawings. To see when the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen, we need to go back to the August 9, 2016.

And now for the biggest draw of the evening: the repeating Three-Number Combinations! The Combinations were

  • 9, 21, 75 (Debuted October 9, 2015)
  • 21, 30, MB 9 (Previously played September 29th, 2015 and September 30, 2016)
The 2x Three-Number Combination is in the red box. The 3x Combination is in the blue box.

With one week to go before Mardi Gras, Mega Millions had turned it up a notch. Will the momentum continue to build up, or will Friday night be a night of rest?

Two Rounds of 3-2-1

Although we saw no repeating Four-Number (Lotto Texas) or Three-Number Combinations (Powerball) on February 18th, the pre-Mardi Gras momentum kept going. Powerball saw a General Order that hadn’t played in almost a year and a new Specific Order. Although Powerball had most of the momentum, there was one moment it got to share with Lotto Texas. That moment was the Pattern.

Lotto Texas

For the 739th time, the {3-2-1} Pattern played with winning numbers 5, 11, 14, 21, 38, and 44.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now played in 52% of the 1422 Lotto Texas drawings. Additionally, the {3-2-1} Pattern remains the most commonly seen Pattern by a wide margin. We last saw this Pattern earlier this month in the February 1, 2017 drawing.

The Specific Order of the evening was 3 1 2, making its 134th appearance. This Specific Order has played in 18.1% of the 739 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.42% of all drawings. Prior to Saturday, we last saw the 3 1 2 Specific Order play in the January 11, 2017 drawing.

Powerball

Just as in Lotto Texas, the {3-2-1} Pattern played. The winning numbers were 3, 7, 9, 31, 33, and PB 20.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, this is one of the least commonly seen Patterns in Powerball. Now with six appearances, Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern has played in approximately 4.17% of the 144 drawings. This Pattern was last seen in the January 25, 2017 drawing.

The [3-2-1] General Order made its second appearance, its first since the March 16, 2016 drawing. As of Saturday, this General Order has played in 33.3% of the six drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.39% of all drawings.

The biggest development of the evening was the debut of the 3 0 2 0 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in half of the two drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order has appeared, approximately 16.7% of the six drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.69% of all drawings.

Will other rarely-seen Patterns appear in the week ahead? Will other Specific Orders make their debut?

Resting Up Before Mardi Gras

In our last Mega Millions post, we were wondering if we would see the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore or if a rare Pattern would get exposure. Alas, these did not come to pass. With Mardi Gras coming on February 28th, Mega Millions got the idea to rest up a bit on Friday night.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 109th appearance in the February 17th drawing. The winning numbers were 4, 56, 58, 67, 75, and MB 8.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 31.3% of the 348 drawings, and previously played exactly one week prior on February 10th . The {2-2-1-1} Pattern remained the second-most commonly seen Pattern. Unlike “sister” Powerball, it will be a while yet before it catches up to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order played for the 32nd time. As of Friday, this General Order has played in 29.4% of the 109 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.2% of all Mega Millions drawings. We last saw the [1-2-2-1] General Order earlier this year in the January 3, 2017 drawing.

Next, we have the 1 0 0 2 2 1 Specific Order, now having made three appearances. This Specific Order has now played in 9.375% of the 32 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared, 2.75% of the 109 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in in 0.86% of all drawings. To see when the 1 0 0 2 2 1 Specific Order previously played, we need to go back to the May 24, 2016 drawing. For those of you who have been following our blog since the beginning, this was just before we launched.

And now, the conclusion of our Mega Millions analysis. Friday’s drawing gifted us with the repeating Three-Number Combination 58, 75, and MB 8, which debuted in the September 6, 2016 drawing.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern be the one to make an encore on Tuesday’s drawing?

Coupling Up After Valentine’s Day

Roses are red

No need to feel sour

Two lotteries in one night

Numbers wield great power

And lots of it. This February 15, 2017 was more than just the day after Valentine’s Day. Lotto Texas and Powerball had their drawings, and there was coupling up in both. By “coupling up”, we mean there was a Pattern and an Order that shared a “previously played” date. The dates, of course, varied.

Lotto Texas

For the 122nd time, the {3-3} Pattern came out to play. The winning numbers were 1, 4, 5, 43, 53, and 54.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now appeared in 8.59% of the 1421 Lotto Texas drawings to date, and was last seen in the January 21, 2017 drawing.

The 3 0 3 Specific Order made its 44th appearance, and has now played in 36.1% of the 122 drawings where the {3-3} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.1% of all drawings. Like the {3-3} Pattern, this Specific Order was last seen a few weeks ago in the January 21st drawing.

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations, sorry to say

Those will have to wait for another day.

Powerball

The Powerball Pattern of the evening was {3-1-1-1}, with winning numbers 5, 28, 33, 38, 42, and PB 19.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Now with 27 appearances, this Pattern has now played in 18.9% of the 143 Powerball drawings. We last saw this Pattern exactly two weeks prior in the February 1, 2017 drawing.

Next, the [1-1-3-1] General Order made its 11th appearance, and it was also last seen on February 1st. With that said, this General Order has now played in 40.7% of the 27 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.69% of all drawings.

The 1 1 3 0 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut, meaning that it has now played in 9.09% of the eleven drawings where the [1-1-3-1-] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.70% of the 27 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.7% of all drawings.

Talk of a repeating Three-Number Combination, that we can do

It came in the form of 28, 38, and 42

The repeating Three-Number Combination is highlighted in the red box.

This past Christmas Eve was when it made its debut.

It definitely can be said

That momentum for Lotto Texas and Powerball is far from dead!

What will the weekend have in store?

Will there be a lull or a mighty uproar?

Candy, Champagne, and Numbers

Ah, Valentine’s Day. Not only does it mark the halfway point in February, it’s a day of love and romance. It’s a day of makeups and breakups, a day full of chocolates, cards, candy, and…Mega Millions? Well, yes! This year, a Mega Millions drawing fell on this holiday. Grab that box of chocolates and take a gander at the analysis for the February 14, 2017 drawing. Leftover champagne drinking is optional.

Tuesday’s winning Pattern was the {2-1-1-1-1}, having made its 138th appearance. The winning numbers were 7, 11, 33, 60, 68, and MB 15.

This Pattern has now played in 39.8% of the 347 Mega Millions drawings and remained the most commonly played Pattern. We last saw the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern exactly one week prior in the February 7, 2017 drawing.

Like the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order was also previously seen on February 7th. Now with 36 appearances, this General Order has played in 26.1% of the 138 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 10.4% of all drawings.

The 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order made its eighth appearance, its first since the August 2, 2016 drawing. As of Tuesday, this Specific Order has played in approximately 22.2% of the 36 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, 5.80% of the 138 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.31% of all drawings.

For those of you who are positively in love with repeating Three-Number Combinations, you’re in luck! The Three-Number Combination 11, 68, and MB 15 made its second appearance.

The repeating Three-Number Combination is highlighted at the bottom.
The repeating Three-Number Combination is highlighted at the bottom.

This Combination made its debut in the October 14, 2014 drawing.

As we march onward through the second half of February, will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore, or will a rarely seen Pattern get a shot? Will there be a lull before a Mardi Gras explosion?

That Plucky {4-2} Pattern

The lottery momentum continued the night of February 11th. For as long as Lottery Binge has been online, this is the second time we’ve seen the {4-2} Pattern appear not once, not twice, but three times in a row. Powerball on the other hand simmered down a bit.

Lotto Texas

The {4-2} Pattern three-peat on Saturday night was thanks to winning numbers 24, 25, 26, 29, 41, and 53.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.
Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now appeared 160 times, and has played in 11.3% of the 1420 Lotto Texas drawings. Recall that the {4-2} Pattern was last seen in Wednesday’s drawing.

The 0 4 2 Specific Order made its 31st appearance, the first since the September 17th, 2016 drawing. As of Saturday’s drawing, this Specific Order has now played in 19.375% of the 160 drawings where the {4-2} Pattern has appeared, and 2.18% of all drawings.

One observation we’ve made is that with the past two consecutive appearances of the {4-2} Pattern, there’ve been at least one repeating Four-Number Combination. Saturday night was no exception. The Four-Number Combination 24, 25, 29, and 41 made its second appearance, after having debuted in the November 19, 2014 drawing.

It’s not often that we see the {4-2} Pattern make a three-peat appearance.

Powerball

Powerball’s {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern retained its lead as the most commonly seen Pattern. The 48th appearance was represented by winning numbers 5, 9, 17, 37, 64, and PB 2.

This Pattern has now played in 33.8% of the 142 drawings to date, and previously played in the January 18, 2017 drawing.

Next, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order made its 10th appearance, its first since the January 7, 2017 drawing. This General Order has now played in 20.8% of the 48 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.04% of all drawings.

Our Powerball coverage concludes with the 2 1 1 0 1 1 Specific Order, making its third appearance. As of Saturday, this Specific Order has played in 30% of the 10 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, 6.25% of the 48 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} drawing has appeared, and in 2.11% of all drawings. Like the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order, the 2 1 1 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the January 7th drawing.

As we look to the week ahead, will we see an unprecedented four-peat of the {4-2} Pattern in Lotto Texas? Will the {2-1-1-1-1} in Powerball hold on to its lead?

February Huff n’ Puff

In our last Mega Millions post, we were wondering whether the February 10th drawing would be low-key or an explosion of numbers. Although it was a far cry from the six-peat we saw last summer, or even an Australia Play, Friday’s drawing had a bit more oomph to it.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 108th appearance, with winning numbers 32, 39, 51, 62, 75 and MB 14.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.
Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 31.2% of the 346 drawings to date, and was seen exactly one week prior in the February 3rd drawing. Unlike the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in Powerball, this {2-2-1-1} Pattern has a way to go before catching up to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 39th appearance, its first since the January 31st, 2017 drawing. This General Order has now played in 36.1% of the 108 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.3% of all drawings.

Next, the 0 0 2 1 2 1 Specific Order played for the fourth time. This Specific Order has now played in 10.3% of the 39 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] Pattern has appeared, 3.70% of the 108 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern appeared, and in 1.16% of all drawings. Prior to Friday’s drawing, the 0 0 2 1 2 1 Specific Order previously played in the April 8th, 2016 drawing ten months ago.

The biggest event in an otherwise low-key evening was the repeat appearance of two Three-Number Combinations:

  • 39, 51, and 75, which debuted in the January 8th, 2016 drawing, and
  • 39, 51, and MB 14, which debuted in the May 9th, 2014 drawing
Snippet of Three-Number Combinations. The bottom two Combinations repeated.

The next Mega Millions drawing falls on Valentine’s Day. Will someone strike the jackpot, or will those numbers cause broken hearts?
