A Balance in the Force

After the Earth-shattering results of the U.S. election and the rumblings in Mega Millions, we entered calmer waters on November 9th. That is, if seeing repeating Four-Number Combinations, one of which hadn’t been seen since last decade, could be considered calm.

Lotto Texas

For starters, Lotto Texas saw the not-so-common {3-3} Pattern make its 117th appearance. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 2, 9, 18, 42, 51, and 52.

The {3-3} Pattern has played in 8.40% of the 1393 drawings that have taken place so far. This Pattern was last seen a few weeks ago in the October 22nd, 2016 drawing.

The Specific Order of the evening was 3 0 3, making its 40th appearance. Out of the 117 times the {3-3} Pattern has played, the 3 0 3 Specific Order has played 34.2% of the time. When taking all 1393 drawings into account, this frequency whittles down to 2.87%. We last saw this Specific Order in the August 10th, 2016 drawing.

One highlight of the evening was the repeat occurrence of the following Four-Number Combinations:

  • 2, 9, 42, and 52, which first played way back on January 25th, 2003
  • 18, 42, 51, and 52, which first played March 5th, 2014 and
  • 2, 18, 51, and 52, which first played August 25th, 2010.

Powerball

What we saw in Powerball could end up putting the kibosh on the Powerball Pattern Tango, at least for the time being. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, having previously played in Saturday’s drawing, made an encore appearance. Now coming in with 41 appearances, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern holds on to its title as Most Commonly Played Powerball Pattern. This encore was thanks to winning numbers 1, 25, 28, 31, 54, and PB 2.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared in 35.7% of the 115 Powerball drawings.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made it is ninth appearance, its first since the October 5th, 2016 drawing. Of the 41 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played 22% of the time. When taking all 115 drawings into account, this Pattern has played 7.83% of the time.

Finally, we come to the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order, which made its second appearance. In the 9 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order appeared, the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 22.2% of the time. This becomes 4.88% when looking at the 41 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, and 1.74% of all 115 drawings.  The 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the April 16th, 2016 drawing.

Will the {3-3} Pattern be bold enough to make an encore appearance in Lotto Texas Saturday? Has the Powerball Pattern Tango finally come to an end?

A Night of Upsets

We’re in the middle of yet another history-making week. November 8th was truly a night to remember in more ways than one. While an upset was occurring in the U.S. election, the lottery world saw some rumblings in Mega Millions.

One such rumbling was the 20th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern. The winning numbers on Tuesday night were as follows: 46, 48, 53, 61, 74, and MB 2.

The {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared in 6.27% of the 319 drawings to date. Only two other Patterns have played fewer times: {4-1-1} (12, which puts it at 3.76%) and {5-1} (has yet to play). Prior to Tuesday night, we last saw the {3-2-1} Pattern in the November 1st drawing a week prior.

The [3-2-1] General Order made its ninth appearance and to see when it last played, we’d need to go back to the March 29th, 2016 drawing. With that said, the [3-2-1] General Order has played in 45% of the 20 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has played. After taking all 319 drawings into account, this becomes 2.82% of the time.

The second rumbling of the evening was the debut of the 0 0 0 3 2 1 Specific Order. We’ve now seen the 0 0 0 3 2 1 Specific Order play in 11.1% of the 9 drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order has appeared. When looking at the 20 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has played, this shrinks to 2.82%. Finally, when taking all 319 drawings into account, the 0 0 0 3 2 1 Specific Order has played 0.31% of the time.

The last Mega Millions rumbling of the evening came in the repeat appearance of the Three-Number Combination 46, 48, and 74.

This Combination made its debut in the May 13th, 2014 drawing.

Now that we’re entering calmer waters, will we see another Specific Order debut soon? Will the {3-2-1} Pattern go for an encore?

On Familiar Ground

Compared to what we’ve seen for the past few drawings, Lotto Texas and Powerball saw a cool-down on November 5th. How much of a cool-down? Let’s just say that what we saw was *very* common, Pattern-wise, at least.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made an encore appearance Saturday, bringing its total number of appearances to 725.The winning numbers were 4, 27, 30, 38, 47, and 49.

Out of the 1392 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 52.1% of the time, and holds the title of Most Commonly Played Pattern with no competition. Recall that we last saw this Pattern in Wednesday’s drawing.

The 1 2 3 Specific Order made its 135th appearance, its first since the October 19th, 2016 drawing. This Specific Order has played in 18.6% of the 725 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. When we look at all 1392 drawings, this becomes 9.70% of the time.

Powerball

The {2-1-1-1-1} made its 40th appearance, its first since the October 22nd, 2016 drawing. This was thanks to winning numbers 21, 31, 50, 51, 69, and PB 8.

This Pattern has played in 35.1% of the 114 drawings and has once again reclaimed the title of Most Commonly Played Pattern in Powerball.  Whether this is just the rumblings of another Powerball Pattern Tango is anyone’s guess.

Moving on to the General Order, we saw [1-1-2-1-1] make its ninth appearance, the first since the September 17th, 2016 drawing. The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in 22.5% of the 40 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This becomes 7.89% of the time when we take all 114 drawings into account.

The most stand-out feature of the evening was the debut of the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 11.1% of the drawings where [1-1-2-1-1] was the General Order of the evening. When looking at the 40 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the Pattern, the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played 2.5% of the time. Finally, when looking at all 114 drawings, this becomes 0.88% of the time.

As we walk into another week bound for the history books, will Lotto Texas or Powerball break any records? Will the Powerball Pattern Tango resurface once again?

New Month Order

As World Series hysteria reached its apex and the U.S. presidential campaigns entered the home stretch, Mega Millions once again came at us with its own brand of madness! While the Pattern we saw was a common one, we saw something unusual in the Three-Number Combinations. In fact, we here at Lottery Binge can say that the night of November 4th, 2016, is one for the Mega Millions history books.

Friday marked the 128th appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers were as follows: 10, 29, 32, 44, 46, and MB 10.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 40.3% of the 318 drawings that have occurred so far. Prior to Friday’s drawing, we last saw this Pattern a week ago in the October 28th drawing.

The General Order of the evening was [1-1-2-1-1], now having made its 29th appearance. Like the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order was previously seen in the October 28th drawing. Out of the 128 drawings with {2-1-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played 22.7% of the time. When we look at all 318 drawings, this shrinks to 9.12%.

The 1 1 2 1 0 1 Specific Order made its ninth appearance, its first since the March 1st, 2016 drawing. Given that there are now 29 drawings with [1-1-2-1-1] as the General Order, the 1 1 2 1 0 1 Specific Order has played approximately 31% of the time. When taking the 128 drawings in which the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, the 1 1 2 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 7.03% of the time. This becomes 2.83% of the time when we look at all 318 drawings.

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. There were four Three-Number Combinations that repeated, but here’s the catch.

Are you ready?

Some of these Combinations have played twice before!

To keep things a bit simpler, we’re going to break it down into the Three-Number Combinations that have appeared once before, and the Combinations that have played twice already.

The ones that have only played once before are:

  • 29, 32, and 46, which first played February 21st, 2014 and
  • 32, 46, and MB 10, which first played July 31st, 2015.

The ones that have played twice before are:

  • 10, 29, and MB 10, which first played March 4th, 2014 and again on May 19th, 2015, and
  • 29, 46, and MB 10, which first played June 27th, 2014 and again on July 5th, 2016.
The Three-Number Combinations that have played twice are highlighted in red. Combinations that have played three times are highlighted in blue.

As one historic week comes to an end and we enter another one, will there be other Three-Number Combinations that play for a third time? Will an extremely rare Pattern get its chance to play?

Big League Plays

Chicago beating Cleveland wasn’t the only thing that happened on November 2nd! As the Cubs and the Indians went head-to-head in a nail-biter that will be talked about for years to come, Lotto Texas saw a Four-Number Combination that debuted last decade. The Powerball Pattern Tango was put on hold once again—but things heated up with an Australia Play!

Here is the rundown for Lotto Texas and Powerball on what was truly a historic night.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} remains the most commonly seen Pattern, with Wednesday’s drawing marking its 724th appearance. The winning numbers were 3, 4, 29, 31, 33, and 50.

The {3-2-1} Pattern has played in 52% of the 1391 drawings that Lotto Texas has had so far. We last saw this Pattern last week in the October 26th drawing.

The 2 3 1 Specific Order made its 119th appearance, its first since the September 7th, 2016 drawing. Out of the 724 drawings in which the {3-2-1} has appeared, the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played 16.4% of the time. This becomes 8.55% when we look at all 1391 drawings.

The Four-Number Combination 3, 4, 31, 50 made its second appearance. To see when this Combination debuted, we need to go back to January 30th, 2008.

Powerball

The {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its twelfth appearance Wednesday, thanks to winning numbers 13, 18, 37, 54, 61 and PB 5.

Given that there have been 113 drawings, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 10.6% of the time. The thing about Australia Plays in Powerball (and Mega Millions) is that not only is the Pattern {1-1-1-1-1-1}, it follows that the General Order is [1-1-1-1-1-1] and the Specific Order is 1 1 1 1 1 1. Just like the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, these have also played 10.6% of the time. We last saw the Australia Play in the October 19th, 2016 drawing.

Will Lotto Texas get in on the Australia Play action, or will another rarely-seen Pattern play? Will there be a definite Pattern that takes the title of Most Commonly Seen Pattern in Powerball?

“November” in 3-2-1

It’s hard to believe that we’re already in November! In between the madness of the World Series, the upcoming U.S. Presidential elections, and the start of the holiday season, of course Mega Millions didn’t want to feel left out! The November 1st, 2016 drawing gifted us with a Pattern that doesn’t get much play.

The 19th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 19, 24, 31, 39, 45, and MB 13.

Out of the 317 Mega Millions drawings thus far, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 5.99% of the time. We last saw this Pattern in the September 30th, 2016 drawing.

The [2-3-1] General Order made its 11th appearance Tuesday night, and like the {3-2-1} Pattern, it previously played in the September 30th drawing. Out of the 19 drawings in which the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared, the [2-3-1] General Order has played 57.9% of the time. When we look at all 317 drawings, this shrinks to 3.47% of the time.

The 0 2 3 0 0 1 Specific Order made its fourth appearance. Given that there have been 11 drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared, the 0 2 3 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 36.4% of the time. Looking at the 19 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern, this becomes 21.1% of the time. Finally, when taking all 317 drawings into account, the 0 2 3 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 1.26% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order earlier this year in the May 3rd, 2016 drawing.

Finally, we come to the repeating Three-Number Combination of 31, 39, and 45. To see when this Combination first played, we need to go back to the January 30th, 2015 drawing.

As November pushes onward and things get a bit wilder in the “real world”, will Mega Millions continue to partake in its own madness, or will it mellow out?
