Lotto Texas Throwback and Powerball Keeps it Mellow

Saturday’s Lotto Texas drawing was quite the show! We saw a rarely-played Pattern and a Specific Order that first played nearly fifteen years ago! Powerball, on the other hand, was a bit more down-to-earth.

Lotto Texas

The July 30, 2016 Lotto Texas drawing gave us the following winning numbers: 1, 8, 13, 14, 15, and 17.

Winning numbers from lotterytrend.com
Winning numbers from lotterytrend.com

These numbers followed the {6} Pattern, which is not only a rare Pattern, it is the least commonly played! This Pattern is so rare that it’s played in five out of 1364 drawings, or about 0.37% of the time. In fact, prior to the July 30th drawing, this Pattern played on March 14, 2012.

The {6} Pattern gave way to the 6 0 0 Specific Order. The 6 0 0 Specific Order only appeared twice out of the five drawings, or 40% of the time in which the {6} Pattern has played. Taking all 1364 Lotto Texas drawings into account, the 6 0 0 Specific Order has played about 0.147% of the time. The first time the 6 0 0 Specific Order played was back on September 5, 2001, a time when Pokémon GO meant “Go buy the video games”!

We also saw a Four-Number Combination provided in 8, 13, 14, and 15, which first played on April 11, 2007.

And to think 2007 was just nine years ago! Who would have thought that the 2000s would become retro so fast?

Powerball

Powerball’s winning numbers for July 30, 2016 were 11, 17, 21, 23, 32, and PB 5.

The winning Pattern of the night was {3-1-1-1}, which previously played on June 4, 2016. With eleven appearances, and with 86 Powerball drawings to date, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played 12.8% of the time.

The General Order was [1-3-1-1] and it has now played six times, its previous appearance being on June 1, 2016. Out of the 11 drawings in which the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played 54.5% of the time. With all 86 Powerball drawings taken into account, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played 6.98% of the time.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order gave way to the 1 3 1 0 0 1 Specific Order, now having played twice. The first time this Specific Order has played was back on February 13, 2016.  Out of the six drawings in which the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared, the 1 3 1 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 33.3% of the time. If we take a look at the 11 times in which the {3-1-1-1} Pattern played, the 1 3 1 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 18.2% of the time. Finally, taking all 86 Powerball drawings to date into account, the 1 3 1 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 2.33% of the time.

As we look ahead to August, getting fired up for the Olympics, what will be in store? Will Powerball get a taste of rarely-seen Patterns?

Mellow Mega Millions

July has come and gone. The Rio Olympics are right around the corner and parents all across the U.S. are scrambling for the best Back-to-School deals.

Friday’s Mega Millions drawing was a low-key affair. In our last Mega Millions post, we asked if the {2-2-1-1} would make an encore appearance. The {2-2-1-1} did not make an encore.

The winning numbers for the July 29, 2016 Mega Millions drawing were 11, 16, 19, 31, 48, and MB 4.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 112th appearance, and it continues to be the most commonly seen Mega Millions Pattern to date. Prior to Friday’s drawing, we last saw this Pattern on July 19, 2016. Out of 290 Mega Millions drawings, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played approximately 38.6% of the time.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern gave way to the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, which has now made 31 appearances. To date, this is the most commonly seen General Order associated with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern.  Given that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 112 times, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared in 27.7% of those drawings. Taking all 290 Mega Millions drawings into account, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played 10.7% of the time. The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order previously played on July 8, 2016.

Finally, we saw the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order play for the 12th time, having previously played on June 28, 2016. The 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order is the most commonly seen Specific Order associated with not only the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, but the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern as well.

  • The 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 38.7% of the time (12 out of 31) that the [1-2-1-1-1] General Oder has played.
  • The 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 10.7% of the time (12 out of 112) that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played.
  • Taking all 290 Mega Millions drawings into account, the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 4.14% (12 out of 290) of the time.

What will August have in store?

Wednesday Night Cool Down

After an extraordinary Saturday night for Lotto Texas and Powerball, things mellowed out considerably in Wednesday’s drawing. How mellow was it? Well, let’s find out.

Lotto Texas

The July 27, 2016 Lotto Texas drawing gave us the following winning numbers: 27, 37, 38, 40, 49, and 54.

These numbers played in the {5-1} Pattern, the first time since March 23, 2016. Currently, the {5-1} Pattern has played 47 times. Given that there have been 1363 Lotto Texas drawings, this pattern has played 3.45% of the time. In fact, the {5-1} Pattern has played the second least amount of times.

The {5-1} Pattern followed the 0 1 5 Specific Order, which has now played 9 times, and has appeared in 19.1% of the drawings in which the {5-1} Pattern has played. Recall that there have been 47 drawings where {5-1} was the winning Pattern. Taking all 1363 Lotto Texas drawings into account, we see that the 0 1 5 Specific Order has played 0.66% of the time. Prior to the July 27th drawing, we last saw the 0 1 5 Specific Order play on August 28, 2013.

We also saw a Four-Number Combination in the form of 27, 37, 38, and 54, which first played back on January 7, 2009.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played 29 times, and prior to the July 27th drawing, this Pattern played July 23rd, 2016. Yes. It was this very pattern that was part of the July 23rd extravaganza!  With 85 Powerball drawings to date, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 34.1% of the time.

We saw the [1-2-2-1] General Order play for the first time since July 2, 2016. With 12 appearances to date

  • The [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared in roughly 41.4% (12 out of 29) of the drawings in which the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played and
  • The [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared in 14.1% (12 out of 85) of all Powerball drawings.

As of the July 27th Powerball drawing, the [1-2-2-1] General Order is the most commonly seen General Order associated with the {1-2-2-1} Pattern.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order gave way to the 1 0 0 2 2 1 Specific Order, which previously played on January 16, 2016. As of the July 27th drawing, the 1 0 0 2 2 1 Specific Order has played in 3 out of 12 drawings in which the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared. That’s an even 25%. Taking it even further

  • The 1 0 0 2 2 1 Specific Order has played in 10.3% (3 out of 29) drawings in which the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played and
  • The 1 0 0 2 2 1 Specific Order has played in 3.53% (3 out of 85) of all Powerball drawings.

Remember, the month isn’t over yet. Is the July 27th drawing just the calm before the storm?

{2-2-1-1} Keeps It Chill

After Sunday’s report on Lotto Texas and Powerball, Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing brought things down to Earth. We didn’t see any new Specific Orders play, nor did we see the {4-1-1} Pattern repeat. What we did see was a more commonly played Pattern.

The winning numbers for the July 26, 2016 Mega Millions drawing were 1, 4, 31, 36, 54, and MB 9.

Mega Millions winning numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com

This play marked the 92nd appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, which previously played on July 5, 2016. With 289 drawings to date, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 31.8% of the time, and remains the second most commonly seen Mega Millions Pattern to date.

The General Order of the night was [2-2-1-1], which has now played 37 times and it previously played June 24, 2016. Out of the 92 times the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played 40.2% of the time. In fact, the [2-2-1-1] General Order is the most commonly played General Order associated with the {2-2-1-1} Pattern thus far. If we take all 289 Mega Millions drawings into account, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played 12.8% of the time.

The 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order made its fifth appearance, its first since September 1, 2015. Breaking everything down, we get the following:

  • Appeared in 5 out of 37 drawings in which the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played, or 13.5%.
  • Appeared in 5 out of 92 drawings in which the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, or 5.4%
  • Appeared in 5 out of 289 Mega Millions drawings, or 1.73%.

We had three, count ‘em three Three-Number Combinations play for the second time last night:

  • 1, 4, 36, which first played January 5, 2016
  • 4, 31, MB 9, which first played October 2, 2015
  • 1, 54, MB 9 which first played April 4, 2014.

As we look ahead to Friday’s drawing, will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern begin to play catch-up, or will another Pattern play?

Combos! Combos Everywhere!

Saturday night’s results didn’t lead to another attempt at a {3-2-1} Pattern streak in Lotto Texas nor an encore of Powerball’s {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Instead, we saw results that were nothing like we’ve covered on our blog so far. Lotto Texas was quite a doozy and Powerball had some interesting plays as well. Grab some popcorn and a bottle of your favorite spirits because we have quite the recap!

Lotto Texas

The July 23, 2016 drawing gave us the winning numbers of 8, 12, 19, 25, 26, and 30.

Winning Lotto Texas numbers. From lotterytrend.com

These numbers were the 147th appearance of the {4-2} Pattern, and with there being 1362 Lotto Texas drawings, the {4-2} Pattern has played 10.8% of the time. In fact, the {4-2} Pattern played exactly one week ago on July 16, 2016.

We saw the 2 4 0 Specific Order play for the 24th time. The 2 4 0 Specific Order has played 16.3% of the time given the 147 times that the {4-2} Pattern appeared. This shrinks to 1.76% of the time if we consider all 1362 Lotto Texas drawings.

What makes Saturday night’s drawing different from all the other Lotto Texas drawings we’ve covered so far is that we saw a similar spread appear for the third time! A spread is the difference between adjacent numbers. A similar spread occurs when the differences between numbers in separate drawings are the same, but the order is different. Here’s what we mean:

On April 12, 2003, the winning numbers for Lotto Texas were 9, 16, 22, 26, 27, and 31. The spread that appeared that evening was 07:06:04:01:04. The July 23rd, 2016 winning numbers’ spread was 04:07:06:01:04.

The winning numbers for the March 12, 2014 Lotto Texas drawing were 24, 31, 37, 41, 45, and 46 and their spread was 07:06:04:04:01. Again, we see that the July 23rd spread is similar to the March 12th, 2014 spread.

If we take a closer look at each of the three spreads (April 12, 2003, March 12, 2014, and July 23, 2016), we can see that they are all similar.

By contrast, an exact spread occurs when the difference between adjacent numbers and their orders are the same. For more information on similar spreads and exact spreads, check out our Texas Lottery Trend site.

The three-time appearance of a similar spread was just a warm-up. We saw a Five-Number Combination make its second appearance in the form of 8, 19, 25, 26, and 30, which first played back on January 8, 2014.

Given the appearance of a Five-Number Combination, that automatically leads to the repeat appearance of at least five Four-Number Combinations. In fact, we saw six Four-Number Combinations play for a second time!

  • 19, 25, 26, 30
  • 8, 25, 26, 30
  • 8, 19, 25, 30
  • 8, 19, 26, 30
  • 8, 19, 25, 26

All of these Four-Number Combinations played for the first time on January 8, 2014! There was one other Four-Number Combination in the form of 12, 25, 26, and 30 that played for the first time on July 6, 2013.

Of course, we’re not even going to mention how 8, 25, 26, and 30 also played in the July 22, 2016 Mega Millions drawing…

Powerball

Powerball’s winning numbers from the July 23rd, 2016 drawing were 5, 7, 23, 35, 39, and PB 11.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played in 28 out of 84 Powerball drawings, or 33.3% of the time. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern played July 2, 2016.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern followed the [2-1-2-1] General Order. With a seventh appearance, the [2-1-2-1] has appeared in 25% of the drawings in which the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played. Considering all 84 Powerball drawings to date, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played 8.33% of the time. This General Order previously played on April 30, 2016.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order gave way to the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order. The 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played 3 out of 7 times in which the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played, or 42.9%. Taking the 28 drawings in which {2-2-1-1} has played, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 10.7% of the time. Finally, taking all 84 Powerball drawings into account, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 3.57% of the time. Like the [2-1-2-1] General Order, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order previously played on April 30, 2016.

We conclude our Powerball coverage with Three-Number Combinations. We saw two Combinations play for the second time:

  • 5, 7, 23 which first played on May 21, 2016.
  • 23, 39, and MB 11 which first played on May 18, 2016.

Will July end with a fireworks show?

A Night of Encores and Firsts

This Friday’s Mega Millions drawing saw the return of a Pattern that played the previous week, as well as one Specific Order’s first ever appearance.

The winning numbers from the July 22nd, 2016 drawing were as follows: 8, 24, 25, 26, 30, and MB 7.

These numbers followed the {4-1-1} Pattern, which in fact played the previous Friday (July 15, 2016). As of July 22nd, the {4-1-1} Pattern has played in 11 out of 288 drawings, or 3.82% of the time.

The {4-1-1} Pattern gave way to the [1-4-1] General Order, which has now played in 6 out of 11 drawings in which the {4-1-1} has played, or 54.5%. Taking all 288 Mega Millions drawings into account, the [1-4-1] General Order has played 2.08% of the time. Like the {4-1-1} drawing, the [1-4-1] General Order last played on July 15, 2016.

Did the Specific Order also last play on July 15th?

No, no it didn’t. In fact, the 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order played for the first time last night! With that said, the 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 16.7% of the time that the [1-4-1] General Order has played. The 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played 1 out of 11 times that the {4-1-1} Pattern has played, or 9.09%. Finally, taking all 288 Mega Millions drawings into account, the 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 0.35% of the time.

Friday’s Mega Millions drawing also gave us two Three-Number Combinations that played for a second time. These were

  • 24, 26, and MB 7, which first played June 10, 2014.
  • 26, 30, and MB 7, which first played March 15, 2016.

As we look ahead to next week’s Mega Millions, will there be more Specific Orders making their debut? Will the {4-1-1} Pattern be seen again next Friday?

{3-2-1} Comes Back and Powerball Encores

Both the Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings saw the appearance of their most commonly played Patterns. Not only that, but Powerball was full of encores!

Lotto Texas

The July 20th, 2016 Lotto Texas gave us the following winning numbers: 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 38.

Winning numbers for Lotto Texas. From lotterytrend.com.
Winning numbers for Lotto Texas. From lotterytrend.com.

The winning Pattern was {3-2-1}, and having now played 712 times out of 1361 drawings, it leaves all other Patterns in the dust. How so? The {3-2-1} Pattern has played 52.3% of the time. Before the July 20th drawing, this Pattern played on July 13th, 2016.

The {3-2-1} Pattern gave way to the 2 3 1 Specific Order, bringing its total number of plays to 117. Looking at just the number of times the {3-2-1} Pattern has played (712), the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played 16.4%. Taking all 1361 Lotto Texas drawings into account, the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played 8.60% of the time. This Specific Order has previously played on June 15th, 2016.

One noteworthy observation in Lotto Texas’s winning numbers is that 18, 19, 20, and 21 appeared one after the other. This does not happen very often!

Powerball

The winning numbers for Powerball’s July 20th, 2016 drawing were 6, 25, 35, 58, 66, and PB 5.

Winning Powerball numbers for July 20th, 2016. From lotterytrend-powerball.com
Winning Powerball numbers for July 20th, 2016. From lotterytrend-powerball.com

These numbers followed the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which has now played 32 times. Given that there have been 83 Powerball drawings, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 38.6% of the time. Although it doesn’t leave other Patterns in the dust like Lotto Texas’s’ {3-2-1}, the {2-1-1-1-1} has a comfortable lead. The {2-1-1-1-1} previously played on July 9th, 2016.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern gave way to the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, which has played 15 times as of the July 20th drawing. This General Order has played in 46.9% of Powerball drawings in which the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern played. With all 83 Powerball drawings taken into account, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played 18.1% of the time. Just like the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order previously played on July 9th, 2016.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order gave way to the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order, now having played 6 times. Out of the 15 times the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 40% of the time. If we take into account the 32 times the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 18.8% of the time. Finally, with all 83 Powerball drawings accounted for, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 7.23% of the time.

And just like the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order played on July 9th, 2013!

Looking ahead to Saturday’s drawing, will the Lotto Texas {3-2-1} Pattern establish another streak? Will Powerball’s {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance?

Mega Millions Makes Way for Three-Number Combo

Looking at the July 19th Mega Millions drawing, we saw one Pattern cement its title as “Most Commonly Seen”. Can y’all guess what it is?

The winning numbers were 3, 34, 54, 65, 66, and MB 4.

Winning numbers taken from lotterytrend-megamillions.com
Winning numbers taken from lotterytrend-megamillions.com

These numbers followed the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which has now played in 111 out of 287 drawings. With a tally of 38.7% percent, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern is without equal in Mega Millions. It remains the most commonly seen Pattern to date! This Pattern previously played on July 12, 2016.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern followed the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order. As of the July 19th drawing, this General Order has played 25 out of 111 times, or 22.5% of the Mega Millions drawings in which the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played. If we take all 287 drawings into account, then the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played 8.71% of the time. Prior to last night, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order last played on May 27, 2016.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order gave way to the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order, which has now appeared 9 out of 25 times, or 36% of the drawings in which the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. If we take all 111 drawings that had {2-1-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, then the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played 8.11% of the time. Finally, looking at all 287 Mega Millions drawings, then the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played 3.14% of the time. Prior to last night, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order last played on October 16, 2015.

We saw a Three-Number Combination play for the second time in the form of 54, 65, and 66!

Lotto Texas and Powerball Saturday Night Combo Mambo

Saturday’s drawings for Lotto Texas and Powerball ended the week with a bang. The {3-2-1} Pattern streak in Lotto Texas had been broken and Powerball saw an Australia Play encore!

The winning numbers for the July 16th, 2016 Lotto Texas drawing were 6, 13, 16, 17, 44, and 54.

Instead of the {3-2-1} Pattern that we saw for five consecutive plays, these numbers followed the {4-2} Pattern. Of the 1360 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the {4-2} Pattern has played 146 times, or 10.7% of the time. The last time we saw this Pattern play was back on May 25th, 2016.

The {4-2} Pattern broke down into the 4 0 2 Specific Order, which prior to Saturday’s drawing hadn’t played since March 30th, 2016. As of Saturday’s drawing, the 4 0 2 Specific Order has now played 20 times. Out of the 146 Lotto Texas drawings in which {4-2} has played, the 4 0 2 Specific Order has appeared 13.7% of the time. When we take all 1360 Lotto Texas drawings into account, this Specific Order has played only 1.47% of the time.

We also saw the appearance of three Four-Number Combinations, each having played twice. This is the first time our blog has covered such an occurrence! The three Four-Number Combinations were as follows:

These numbers gave way to the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which in fact played July 13th, 2016 (this past Wednesday). Given the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, we also saw the [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. This consecutive Australia Play brings the total number of drawings for the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order up to 10. With 82 Powerball drawings to date, all three have played 12.2% of the time.

Powerball also saw some action with previously played Combinations. We saw two Three-Number Combinations make a second appearance. These Three-Number Combinations were

  • 40, 50, and 62, which first played February 10th, 2016.
  • 11, 50, and 62, which first played March 12th, 2016.

Looking ahead to next week, will the {4-2} Pattern create its own streak? Will Powerball see an Australia Play three-peat?

So What’s the 4-1-1? Mega Millions Edition

Even though we’re halfway through the month of July, it looks like June has found its way back into Mega Millions. Apparently, June likes to come and go!

The winning numbers from the July 15th, 2016 Mega Millions drawing were 16, 51, 52, 56, 58, and MB 4.

Mega Millions had the {4-1-1} Pattern, making it the tenth appearance. Given that there have been 286 drawings to date, the {4-1-1} Pattern has played 3.75% of the time. This Pattern previously played on June 10th, 2016.

The winning numbers followed the [1-4-1] General Order, and its total number of appearances is now five. Out of the 10 times the {4-1-1} Pattern has played, this General Order has played 50% of the time. Taking all 286 Mega Millions drawings into account, the [1-4-1] General Order has played 1.75% of the time. The [1-4-1] General Order also played in the June 10th, 2016 Mega Millions drawing.

So what of the Specific Order? Did the ghost of this past June pay it a visit as well?

It turns out that that wasn’t the case. In fact, the 0 1 0 4 0 1 Specific Order made its first appearance last night! Since the 0 1 0 4 0 1 Specific Order has only made one appearance, it’s only played 20% of the time the [1-4-1] General Order has played. This becomes 10% if we consider the 10 drawings in which the {4-1-1} Pattern has played. Finally, if we look at all 286 drawings to date, the 0 1 0 4 0 1 Specific Order has only played 0.35% of the time.

Looking ahead to next week, will we see a repeat of the {4-1-1} Pattern or will another Pattern play? Will we see the debut of other Specific Orders?
